I am a third year student midwife in my last week of placement. To qualify I need to deliver 40 babies. With 3 shifts left I started this night shift needing 3 deliveries. I’ve only gone and got a hat trick and delivered my 40th baby!

I am absolutely over the moon and need to shout about it to anyone who will listen until a more civilised hour!

What a fabulous and privileged job I have ❤️

Well done 💐 - what an important and rewarding career you have in front of you. I still remember the midwives who delivered my children even though it was 25 and 30 years ago.

ru53 · 31/07/2024 04:42

Congratulations! What a huge achievement, and good luck in your future career.

UpUpUpU · 31/07/2024 04:44

Thank you everyone. It feels surreal! I’m just on my break and then I have to have the obligatory photo with the ‘40 selfie frame’!

Well done. I think the system has just given birth to a very happy midwife! Wishing you many more very happy deliveries.

Sunplanner · 31/07/2024 05:02

Amazing, you deserve to feel elated! There is no more important job in the world than this!

Dustyblue · 31/07/2024 05:03

Did you explain this to any of the mums? I think I would've pushed harder for you if I thought you might fail your course! 😆

The last one I did (once I was sure she was going to deliver as didn’t want to put pressure on her!) she and her partner were equally elated for me! I won’t sleep today as I am buzzing!

Good work, OP! Think of all the joy you have brought to so many people with so many precious babies.

I'm a nurse too, tho at the other end of life. Whatever we can do for people at these significant times of life is so awesome. Waving to you from Melbourne, Australia.

Feelingstrange2 · 31/07/2024 05:13

Congratulations!

I remember when I qualified (something different) and found out just gone midnight. No one was around apart from a retired police officer couple who were neighbours and were often up at silly o'clock due to being used to shifts! I took a bottle of champagne over to their house at 1 in the morning! That was 1991! You'll remember this forever!

prettypolly12 · 31/07/2024 05:13

Amazing! Well done!!!
