I am a third year student midwife in my last week of placement. To qualify I need to deliver 40 babies. With 3 shifts left I started this night shift needing 3 deliveries. I’ve only gone and got a hat trick and delivered my 40th baby!

I am absolutely over the moon and need to shout about it to anyone who will listen until a more civilised hour!

What a fabulous and privileged job I have ❤️

Congratulations UpUpUpU!🤘👏😁
You make sure you have a good day today, do something nice for yourself 🤗
Couldn't have got through my births without the lovely midwives so hoping you have a long and happy career helping little ones and their Mums Halo

Congratulations! What a shift! It is such a relief when you get that final catch!

I'll never forget when I was in my last delivery suite placement and had just got all my numbers. A fellow student and I were in a birth with a registrar (I think they thought the woman might need a ventouse but she didn't in the end). As the vertex was advancing, the reg asked if either of us wanted to catch. And we both thought about it for like a second and then decided "nah, you're good" and let her carry on 😂 a week earlier we would probably have fought each other to the death to catch that baby 😂

That's brilliant, well done! My DD is a student nurse and I couldn't be more proud of her, so I see all the early nights and 5am starts and 13 hour days when everybody else is partying, I'm in awe of anybody who does this. Good luck with the future and many more deliveries!

Congratulations op!!! I had the most incredible second delivery at the hands of an amazing midwife after birth trauma with my first. What a huge achievement you must be so proud of yourself!!!

JacquiDaytona · 31/07/2024 06:26

Amazing! I had a difficult birth and the student midwife was absolutely incredible - someone who will always stick in my mind. So kind and patient and knowledgeable. I did email her uni when I had recovered to say thank you.
I hope you get some sleep and a chance to celebrate soon!
