Put the country before himself - yes, finally, but he’s done it.

Please God let my country be ok.

Kamala Harris has a big job….just seen she’s the nominee

I'm not ageist, I'm in my 70s myself, but I think there needs to be an age limit. Not sure what it should be though.

I think 80 is reasonable. Even if you are still fit and healthy at that age you may as well enjoy it rather than having a really stressful job.

That wouldn't rule out Trump though unless you said if you turn 80 during the term you can't run.

Grazianoscubanheel · 21/07/2024 19:23

Straight run for Trump. MAGA!

VividQuoter · 21/07/2024 19:23

oh, whatever

Crosc · 21/07/2024 19:23

If you saw this on House of Cards you wouldn’t believe it!

Appalonia · 21/07/2024 19:23

Looks like it will be Kamala?

JamSandle · 21/07/2024 19:24

I hope he is well. Sending love to him and his family.

LibertyDuck · 21/07/2024 19:24

I love Kamala Harris, but anyone who thinks she can beat Trump is delulu.

Beginningless · 21/07/2024 19:24

Oh that’s good to hear, I’d hate to have watched him put himself further through a public decline.

Summernightsinthe21stcentury · 21/07/2024 19:24

I don't think Kamala is necessarily the nominee - she has been endorsed by Biden but surely they need to wait until the convention to choose the candidate.
Although I admit to not fully being able to understand the process in the US.

I can't find this, do you have a link?

Nothing on the white house page.

CNN news page.

Lentilweaver · 21/07/2024 19:25

He's not endorsed anybody. Isn't that odd? What's the usual process?

2inthestink · 21/07/2024 19:26

A week is a long time in politics. We've had the future President nearly assassinated and now this.

deeahgwitch · 21/07/2024 19:26

Startingagainandagain · 21/07/2024 19:12

Finally!

But his reluctance to do this early on has been a gift to Trump.

Another example of a politician who put his own interests and ego first rather than the good of his country.

A huge task for whoever will replace him as candidate with little time left to campaign.

Michelle Obama could win it. Hilary Clinton couldn't.

Probably will be someone less well known which again will be in Trump's advantage.

Edited

I agree.

It looks like Kamala Harris is the new Democratic Presidential candidate.

Kamala Harris Lol GIF by Election 2020

Agreed. She is very disliked.

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/07/2024 19:27

The right decision for Joe Biden for sure. God help America now though. Sounds like a shoe-in for Trump, sadly. And I am sure Kamala has actually been doing the job for months, if not years, but is America going to vote for her? I very much hope so - while doubting it hugely.

viques · 21/07/2024 19:27

Well I wish him well, shame the other old man with limited powers isn’t doing the same.

I think this is what the Democrats need, a candidate ( who ever it turns out to be) they can all get behind and show Trump that the vast majority of Americans aren’t racist, misogynistic, lying, gun toting, ignoramuses but actually care about their country, the wellbeing of its citizens, its standing in world politics and don’t want to see it being turned into a dynastic playground by the wannabe Kardashian Trump gene pool.

GingerPirate · 21/07/2024 19:27

Yesterday was too late.
Now roll on DJT!

Correction: he has endorsed her.

Dery · 21/07/2024 19:28

Thanks for the heads-up. I think it was the right thing to do and gives the democrats the best chance in the circumstances.

Crosc · 21/07/2024 19:28

How does Trump’s sentencing come into play?

tobee · 21/07/2024 19:28

It's only July; plenty of time for plenty of things to occur

Americano75 · 21/07/2024 19:28

@Mommybunny what do you think Harris's chances would be if she does run?

I feel the same. The whole Zelensky President Putin thing was excruciating.
