Why does everybody hate Trump?

First off, please don't flame me, I genuinely am not up to scratch on US affairs/politicians in general - I only do brief research for our own UK elections, and even then I generally only decide by whoever promises to help the NHS and living costs most believably!

Can someone give me some examples on why he's so hated - or on the other hand, why some people love him so much?

Any right wing person with an ounce of decency hates him too

Right wing people are lapping him up because he wins elections, not because he's capable of being a good leader

He endorses ripping immigrant children away from their parents and locking them in cages.

He should be locked in a cage to see how he likes it.

Bringing in women Bill Clinton was supposed to have had affairs with to sit in a prominent place at the leaders debate.

Being disgustingly smarmy with his daughter.

Raping his wife then paying her off to get her to say she made it up.

Talking the talk on immigrants then helping his Slovakian wife's parents get US citizenship.

What he did with the central park 5 in the 80s - racist scaremongering.

His long relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

Bringing his mistress/future wife on a family ski holiday (Marla marples) so that was the first time they met her. While on holiday with their apparently happily married parents.

Paying his wives reward money for birthing children.

It's not blindly following opinion...we've seen the videos, heard the 'grab her by the pussy' comments.

Plans to release rioters and calls them hostages instead of convicted prisoners
Thinks white supremacists are good people
Laughs about nancy pelosi’s husband being attacked with a hammer by a trump supporter
Says mexicans are rapists and mentally ill so tries to build a wall to keep them out
Lies about his money to get better loan rates
Thought injecting people with bleach would cure covid
Cannot have an actual debate, just calls anyone who doesn’t agree with him childish names
Said the country needed to get over it the day after a school shooting because he loves guns
Says Putin is a good guy

Is this enough?

Oh! And dodging the Vietnam draft. All this bullshit about how brave he is in the recent shooting, didn't want to do actual combat did he?

Seriously though, you must be pretty lacking in general knowledge if you've genuinely never heard any of these things before. I understand not being politically involved but these things are massive news headlines, water cooler talking moments... I don't understand how someone can live so sheltered from news.

Go on to Youtube and do a search for "John Oliver Donald Trump". Watch any of the first page of results and if you don't get it by the end of the video I'm not sure you will get it at all.

People hate him for all the reasons already listed.

People like him because he wins. He is prepared to do what other people aren’t. He is prepared to appeal to the basest instincts of certain demographics. It people want him to be racist, he will do that to gain their vote. They want him to mock the disabled .. OK he’ll do that. He doesn’t concern himself with whether something is “morally right” only whether it will win. So many of the people who vote for him do so because they feel validated by him. And others because they see him as a tool to get their party in power.

just adding that his is a very powerful approach because he is able to harness the moral outrage of those opposed to him. Even this thread is an example. A Trump supporter reading it will see it as evidence that people hate Trump and therefore hate them (because cause he validates them). And therefore they become even more dedicated to him.

People like the OP never fail to amaze me. How on earth could she not have any idea about Trump? He's been on the new for years, on the radio, in newspapers, online, social media, documentaries, court cases, the storming of the Capitol for fuck sake. Think of literally any scandal/rumour/unfortunate incident/faux pas that has previously made an individual a pariah in terms of seeking public office. Donald Trump will have done this, or something on a par.

He is disgusting. He's a convicted felon and a rapist. He mocks women, people with disabilities and immigrants and is extremely dangerous. He incited violence and the storming of the Capitol because he couldn't cope with losing the election.

For all of the awful things he has done, I think as a PP said....his support of the claim that the Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax was what tipped me over the edge from strong dislike into actually hating him. Those poor little children were murdered at school by a gunman and Trump supported the idea that it was all a hoax and the bereaved parents were actors recruited due to an attempt to strengthen gun laws. He makes me sick to my stomach.

He will say absolutely anything, there's nothing he won't stoop to. I think the rise of fake news and people spouting any old shit and others blindly believing them is genuinely dangerous and Trump exemplifies that anti-truth rhetoric.

Because he's dangerously ignorant, but thinks he has all the answers. Doesn't care about anyone but himself so won't give a damn about the people who vote him in. I could go on but I think everyone else has pretty much covered it.
