I thought she looked fabulous, but my question is about her hair and chemo. If she is having chemo wouldn’t she have lost her hair?
I don’t know perhaps not everyone loses their hair with chemo 🤷‍♀️
It didn’t look to me look she was wearing a wig.
I thought she looked very well and was glad to see her out and about.

She'll have the very best wig makers & fitters to hand if she has.

Namechanger385u4p · 14/07/2024 18:40

Not all types of chemo cause hair loss. The breast cancer one does which is why we assume everyone will but many types do not.

I have friends/fam who have had similar types of cancer (i think) and have actually ended up with more glowing locks immediately afterwards. Must be the specific drugs have loads of stuff that causes healthy hair(?) . Obvs they still felt shit but from the outside looked healthy

happystory · 14/07/2024 18:48

My friend had chemo, without the cold cap, and didn't lose her hair, it just thinned slightly.

you don't have hair loss with all chemo.
my friend kept her hair with kidney cancer.

NoraLuka · 14/07/2024 18:53

My friend had a wig after chemo. It was expensive but not the absolute best money can buy, and it still looked lovely and natural so I’m sure Princess Catherine would have access to something even better.

FantasticFanny · 14/07/2024 18:58

I didn’t lose my hair with chemo.

Really lovely to see her out and about, as the mum of young kids illness is hard no matter how much you try to hide it so I’m pleased she appears to be getting stronger/up to a public appearance.

I remember my eight year old crying and saying ‘everything’s topsy turvy mummy when you’re not well’. 🤞for a smooth journey back to normality for her and her family.

She looks well, although I think she looks tired round the eyes.

Redglitter · 14/07/2024 18:59

My friend had preventative chemo & didn't lose any hair at all so it's definitely possible

Happygogoat · 14/07/2024 19:02

Not all chemo combinations cause hair loss/total hair loss and also some people have incredible wigs.

alfagirl73 · 14/07/2024 19:02

She may not have lost her hair or indeed, it may be a wig - some of them look extremely natural. They would easily have been able to get one custom made to look identical to her own hair and hairline. Either way - I hope she's doing okay.

Penguinsa · 14/07/2024 19:04

Breast cancer chemo people do lose hair unless they are allowed by NHS to cold cap and it works - I wasn't. Other cancer chemos some of them you don't lose hair. There are also natural hair wigs you can buy though her hair looks like she's kept it to me.

ARichtGoodDram · 14/07/2024 19:06

I didn’t lose my hair during chemo. It thinned a bit, but when it was done for an event you couldn’t tell

KirstenBlest · 14/07/2024 19:06

A relative had chemo for renal cancer and didn't have hair loss.

I hope that all the responses so far have shown you how false your assumption was. The barely disguised insinuation was so easy to refute. I found your OP very disingenous. Leave the woman alone if you can't think of anything kind to say.

My mum’s had 3 different lots of chemo with different combinations of drugs and cold calling for 2 different types of cancer and never lost her hair so it is possible that you don’t lose your hair during chemotherapy. Like others have said it’s just lovely to see her out and about with her children doing things that she and they enjoy ☺️

Not all forms of chemo cause hair loss.

Runningupthecurtains · 14/07/2024 19:29

King Charles has also undergone cancer treatment and also appears to retained his hair. It isn't a given for all chemo.

Shityshitybangbang · 14/07/2024 19:36

I had chemo for colon cancer and didn’t loose my hair, it thinned only.

ssd · 14/07/2024 19:39

She looked fantastic

TheDogsMother · 14/07/2024 19:40

Do we actually know she had chemo ? Maybe she had radiotherapy depending on the stage. Great that she was well enough to attend though.

Catherine specifically said in her video in March that she had started a course of chemotherapy. The OP saying 'IF' she had Chemotherapy, wouldn't she lose her hair' is deliberately and unkindly insinuating that Catherine has not had such treatment. Thankfully do many people of this thread are so much better informed.

TheDogsMother · 14/07/2024 19:51

Ahh @Hermitreader understood and I didn't watch the video. Well it's great that she's out and about.

My ‘assumption’ was because I don’t really know anything about chemo and hair loss. People I know who have had chemo have lost their hair and I was commenting that Princess Catherine does not appear to have lost hers (thankfully).
My post was NOT disingenuous at all! It was a genuine question about whether some people lose their hair and others don’t.
Perhaps you should stay off here if you don’t have anything kind to say, my post was NOT unkind in any way.

I understand the POW had extensive extensions previous to her cancer diagnosis. Would she still be able to have them if her hair was weakened by cancer treatment?

Direct quote from your OP 'If she has had Chemo wouldn't she have lost her hair?' That clearly implies you are questioning if she has had Chemotherapy. I consider that very unkind.

Not at all!
You’re making a mountain out of a molehill 🤷‍♀️
