I thought she looked fabulous, but my question is about her hair and chemo. If she is having chemo wouldn’t she have lost her hair?
I don’t know perhaps not everyone loses their hair with chemo 🤷‍♀️
It didn’t look to me look she was wearing a wig.
I thought she looked very well and was glad to see her out and about.

It is lovely to see her. The dress was perfect.

She's the healthiest looking seriously ill person I've seen.

She has the best health care so they can catch deformities early. It doesn't mean she wasn't ill.

socialdilemmawhattodo · 14/07/2024 21:51

Watching today I didn't think her hair looked as glossy/ bouncy as it sometimes does, but perhaps that look is due to the extensions mentioned by a PP. She did look thin, but has looked thin for quite a long time, imo. I do hope her general health is OK outside of the health issues this year. It was nice that she could attend for a couple of hours with just Charlotte.

Chemo is weird and variable. It cleared up my colleague’s acne. A surprising and welcome side effect, she said.

Direct quote from your OP 'If she has had Chemo wouldn't she have lost her hair?' That clearly implies you are questioning if she has had Chemotherapy. I consider that very unkind.

Considering all the cover ups of the royal family over the last year. I wouldn’t trust anything of them.

bestbefore · 14/07/2024 21:59

Anyone know where her dress was from?

Blackcats7 · 14/07/2024 22:01

So much ignorance as well as the snide insinuations.
I have had people presume I will look like a skeleton and be bald because I have stage 4 cancer. They also presume stage 4 means you will be dead in months.
In fact cancer treatment made me put on a lot of weight as I needed steroids for side effects. My hair is the same as ever. I did not have a picc line. Five years on from being told my cancer is stage 4 I am still here.
I have had people imply I must be lying. They were lucky I am so disabled and that I wasn’t still on the steroids at the time or I might have smacked their face.
There are some sewers masquerading as human beings about.

Custom version of Safiyaa's Cecilia dress apparently.

corrine3278 · 14/07/2024 22:08

Lovely to see her out and about and nice for her kids too. Not sure regarding the hair loss but it looks like she didn't lose it. X

That dress was made for her and her only.

It did wonders for my Mam's rheumatoid arthritis - she was pain free for the first time in decades.

UsernameRedacted · 14/07/2024 22:14

My mum's just finished chemo for an aggressive cancer, no hair loss and she looks "well".

StrawberriesandMango · 14/07/2024 22:14

Her hair was really frizzy today with a lot of breakage you could see. Plus the side parting is more extreme than usual

She looked subdued not her bright self.

NerdyBird · 14/07/2024 22:35

my mum has had two cancer diagnoses, three operations, one course of radiotherapy and tamoxifen. She has never looked 'ill' throughout this, despite obviously being ill. My dad didn't seem ill through his prostate cancer treatment. I have a chronic illness for which I take a medication more generally prescribed for blood cancer. You'd never know from looking at me.

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 14/07/2024 22:44

While she broadly looks well relatively speaking, I think she does look thinner than before and less toned. which I'd expect. I chuckled at the less-than-sky-high-shoes as well - I feel like if I was a conspiracy theorist who thought she is actually fine, the fact that she's gone for lower heels is a sign she was sick! Grin.

I'm really pleased she appears to be feeling better and her genuine happiness at the response of the crowd was lovely to see.

Jibberty · 14/07/2024 22:46

Didn't lose my hair. Didn't have a PICC line (I had a port when my veins were fucked), didn't look unwell, but did sometimes look tired I suppose. Not all cancers are the same. Not all cancer treatments are the same and you know what? Not all people are the same. Unless you knew me, you would have absolutely no idea that I am living with stage 4 cancer.

Fuck me, what a cunty thread with some even cuntier posters.

outdamnedspots · 14/07/2024 22:53

Yeah, @Anunymus , but which doctors will give patients chemo if they don't need it?!

outdamnedspots · 14/07/2024 22:55

doublec · 14/07/2024 21:07

One more thing - PoW's was wearing short sleeves today. I couldn't see a PICC line which makes me think she's finished chemo. I really hope she has. Chemo is horrible, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Well of course a PICC line wouldn't be visible! Don't be daft.

Username1010 · 14/07/2024 22:59

She's extremely thin and her eyes look so tired.
Not a RF fan but I'm glad to see a mother of three young kids up on her feet and smiling and hope she is recovering well.
William and George were at the football and it was nice to see Pippa, Kate and Charlotte together. Wonder what Louis' special treat was?

My ‘assumption’ was because I don’t really know anything about chemo and hair loss. People I know who have had chemo have lost their hair and I was commenting that Princess Catherine does not appear to have lost hers (thankfully).
My post was NOT disingenuous at all! It was a genuine question about whether some people lose their hair and others don’t.
Perhaps you should stay off here if you don’t have anything kind to say, my post was NOT unkind in any way.

This "gotcha" has been frequently disproved over the last few months on here on Facebook on tiktok on any and all other platforms unless you have been living in a bunker you would have seen it every single time she has appeared in public its been discussed you are stirring an empty pot go find another hobby

A PICC line is most usually n the upper inside arm. I had one for six months and it most certainly would be visible if I would have worn the dress PoW wore today.

Even now, three months after removal, the scar/marking is still very much apparent. Again, this would be visible.

That's all

doublec · 14/07/2024 23:06

Redglitter · 14/07/2024 18:59

My friend had preventative chemo & didn't lose any hair at all so it's definitely possible

As I have said numerous times in other threads, preventative chemo is still chemo. However, and again, not all chemotherapy drugs cause hair loss.

@Penguinsa Cold cap doesn't always work. Several women I met during my time on the chemo floor all did cold cap religiously and still lost their hair/their hair thinned.

TheTripThatWasnt · 14/07/2024 23:06

My dad has been having chemo for years. Never lost any hair, never looked ill, didn't lose any weight. You'd have no idea that he was being treated. Also didn't have a picc line, despite months of 2-weekly cycles.

Another friend had a picc line in her chest (not her arm), so it was very easy to cover up (not that PoW should feel the need to do that if she doesn't want to).
