Like other posters have said, losing one's hair is solely dependent on not only what type of chemotherapy drug one has, but whether one uses a cold cap. Additionally, there are many different types of chemotherapy drugs, not all will cause hair loss because they do not target rapidly dividing cells such as the ones that form our hair. Regrettably, chemotherapy used for both breast cancer and ovarian cancer do target these cells, hence hair loss.
My friend and I both had breast cancer. We also both had doxorubicin, a chemo drug that does cause hair loss, usually on day 10 of the first infusion. However, my friend used a cold cap and kept her hair. It didn't even thin. I did not use a cold cap and lost 85/90% of my hair, although surprisingly, it did start to regrow. When I moved on to a different chemo drug - docetxel - I lost pretty much the rest of my hair within days. Thankfully, my hair started to regrow a few weeks later and continued to do so for the rest of my treatment. However, I feel certain that if like my friend I would have cold capped, I would not have lost my hair. But I did not, and chose not to wear a wig either.
Without knowing the PoW's kind of cancer or chemotherapy drugs, it is impossible to comment about if she lost her hair/used a cold cap etc etc. What I do know is that over the past year, I met several women who had amazing wigs made from real hair, ones I did not even clock were wigs until they told me.
