I thought she looked fabulous, but my question is about her hair and chemo. If she is having chemo wouldn’t she have lost her hair?
I don’t know perhaps not everyone loses their hair with chemo 🤷‍♀️
It didn’t look to me look she was wearing a wig.
I thought she looked very well and was glad to see her out and about.

I understand the POW had extensive extensions previous to her cancer diagnosis. Would she still be able to have them if her hair was weakened by cancer treatment?

It was clear she didn’t have extensions in today - for the first time in years - and her hair looked so much better (and realistic!) for it.

Not all chemo makes hair fall out. Chemo can be given in an oral form as well, so not everyone will have a port.

Some of the comments on here are vile. I (mostly) looked well when I had cancer.

@outdamnedspots Oh, I get that. Btw, she wore long sleeves at Trooping the Colour... I wore short sleeves and didn't much care who saw my picc line/scars!

But you probably weren't appearing at Wimbledon where all eyes would be on you...

I hope you're better now.

doublec · 15/07/2024 09:08

@outdamnedspots True. However, because I did not bother to wear a wig and my picc was usually on display, people often came to talk to me about either their own cancer treatment or experiences of loved ones. I don't know, for me, not covering mine was about normalising chemotherapy and trying to remove the stigma/misunderstanding. I can't help but feel that if we could have seen PoW's with a picc, it would have sent a powerful message. But at the same time, I completely understand why we did not.

Thank you for your good wishes. Am not yet out of the woods, but hopefully.

doublec · 15/07/2024 09:16

@Velvetcupcakes That's a great theory and makes total sense. (My infusions were given on the left, my cancer was on the right. `it's always so painful, not to mention a huge waste of time trying to find a usable vein on my left, so never offer it. Was kind of relieved to be given a picc straight out.

Will discuss with my favourite chemo nurse next time I see her. Thank you so very much for sharing.

Samcro · 15/07/2024 09:19

nice to see her out and about.
(why do people call her princess Catherine? there is no such person)

CelesteCunningham · 15/07/2024 09:19

She probably has a portacath instead of a picc line. My friend did.

AnnieMcFanny · 15/07/2024 09:21

@CelesteCunningham she doesn’t have had to have either.

True!

There are different forms of treatment and not everyone reacts the same anyway.

My mum had chemo for breast cancer and lost all her hair after just two treatments (she then switched to radiotherapy as the chemo itself was making her so ill). My dad has had chemo for skin cancer and more recently for bowel cancer but didn't lose any hair either time.

I also had a friend from school who had leukemia and her hair didn't fall out for months after she started treatment, she thought she wouldn't lose it, then suddenly it all happened in just a few days.

I thought the Princess of Wales (her title is not Princess Catherine!) looked very well, i felt very happy for her. I know she was "working" but she loves tennis so hope she enjoyed the day. Her hair was very natural looking so if it was a wig (unlikely) it's an excellent one.

LINDAHOAD · 15/07/2024 11:15

she is extremely thin - the purple dress added curves with the fullness at the hips and being polyester which is thicker than natural fabric. i thought her face was looking fuller though. pippa's dress was a nice summer floral and fitted wedll

You are basically trying to imply Princess Catherine hasn’t had cancer and hasn’t had chemo. I hope all the replies have set you straight. Why some people have to be so vile
is beyond me. Can’t say anything nice then say nothing.

I wasn’t implying that she hasn’t had cancer or hasn’t had chemo.

Maybe I should simply have asked the question: “do people who have chemo always lose their hair?” Because that is the question I was trying to get at in the first place!

I thought she looked lovely and it was nice to see her make an appearances but she's lost weight (understandably) which has aged her quite a bit(you can also see her mother in her now whereas before you couldn't).

There was an extremely unflattering photo where she looks like a little old lady's face has been put on her body and aged down. Massive photoshop fail.

KirstenBlest · 15/07/2024 11:43

FFS, she's been undergoing chemo, She still looks fab for someone in her 40s@xxSideshowAuntSallyxx

Absolutely.

And her sister, who also looks fab, definitely looks a lot older so there's clearly some magic at work for Catherine that's working brilliantly, even while she' sill (I suspect with Pippa it's too much sun, and possibly smoking!)

KirstenBlest · 15/07/2024 11:49

I thought she was superfit, so I doubt she smokes.
Outdoorsy people with low body-fat tend to age less well than people who are plumper and stay indoors.

Tippexy · 15/07/2024 12:02

She has certainly smoked in the past - photos of her with the packet in her bag!

3peassuit · 15/07/2024 12:07

Whether her own hair or a wig, I thought she looked great.

That's not conclusive proof that she smoked. Smile
She looks great and do we have to scrutinise the looks of women.

Emmanuelll · 15/07/2024 12:15

Lots of people in the Royal Family smoke - it's not a massive scandal.

If she walked around in a bin bag would you not say anything?

Princess Kate is a role model for young women. A poster has already asked where she got her dress from. Who cares if she smoked it's none of our business what she sticks in her mouth.

Okay… I don’t smoke but I always carry around a packet of cigarettes just in case the mood strikes me.

Anyhow, there are also French pap photos of her smoking too. But maybe that doesn’t mean anything either 🙄 😂

Lots of super fot super slim people smoke!

Don't really care except to hope that IS why she looks less than kate seeing as I still miss smoking years after giving up and try to remind myself.my skin probably thanks me!!!
