I know lm a woman, my friends are women. It’s only on MN any one cares about it.

In real life they don’t.

Aye until a young female relative encounters a stark naked bloke in the women's changing rooms

Maybe that’s just the people you know thou. I know quite a few people irl that care about women’s rights

Oh, Ange. She's dead common isn't she? Ditch her immediately for someone what speaks proper and doesn't eat chips. I despair of MN at times.

David Lammy "thick"? I've heard it all now!

So why do you think he’ll be gone by Feb?

My guess is that Starmer will not bin any cabinet ministers in the first year or so unless he really has to (scandals etc). On that basis I doubt any of the big appointments will be changed before next summer at the earliest, if uselessness is the only criterion.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/07/2024 11:20

Why is he ‘thick?’

I know everyone on MN likes to dislike him.

l like him, and Angela Raynor. She’s just what the country needs.

He stated that men can grow a cervix. He’s a complete idiot

10 education secretaries in 13 years must also be a record.

In Higher Education, we've had 13 ministers for Universities in 10 years!

It's interesting that 50% of electorate is being referred to here. Statistic published on BBC shows that only 32% voted labour. They've won because other parties performed worse, but doesn't change the fact that it is 32% of electorate, not 50%...

Just being pedantic.

Maybe it’s just the people you know and the weirdness of MN.

No one cares in reality. They care about other female things. Like equality, and equal pay, and safety to walk the streets and decent medical care.

A masters from Harvard doesn't say thick to me

Zimunya · 10/07/2024 11:53

CelesteCunningham · 10/07/2024 11:41

Please don't assume you speak for all women.

I don't speak for anyone - I'm not in parliament. David Lammy is, so it would be helpful if he understood both biology and percentages.

AutumnCrow · 10/07/2024 11:53

I think that Lisa Nandy will struggle with Media, Culture and Sport, and I think she'll say something very contentious and stupid during the Olympics.

Can you beat Michelle Donelan as Ed Sec for 1 day though?

Lammy was the first Black Briton to attend Harvard Law School, where he did his masters. He's worked in some big US law firms, and taught at the University of London.

What's your criteria for "not thick"?

Maybe having some basic common sense and general knowledge. Like not thinking men can “grow a cervix”. Or that Marie Antoinette invented radium. That sort of stuff.

Didnt George W Bush attend Harvard?

Phoebefail · 10/07/2024 11:54

One of the old Management Gurus (1970s style) said "managers get promoted to their level of incompetence"
After her mistakes as a teenager once Angela decided to use her brain properly she seems to have satisfied at every step she has made. I hope she can keep it going. For her sake and as an example and role model to prove one can turn ones life around.

Crinklycrisp · 10/07/2024 11:55

Is this thread going to turn into another antl-trans thread? Over and over again.

CassieMaddox · 10/07/2024 11:56

It goes to show how chaotic the last lot are that the new govt have not even been in post for a week and ppl are already talking about "who will go first".

I hope they all have a good few months/years and am looking forward to what they do first. Scrapping Rwanda was a good start.

Your post implies the "dinosaurs on the right" are all women and thus 50% of the population (and you know it implies that because you wrote it intentionally to imply that).

Not all women agree with you, far from it.

SleepingStandingUp · 10/07/2024 11:58

User2460177 · 10/07/2024 11:46

He thought Marie Antoinette invented radium. He’s not the sharpest

So a failure on a few random facts wipes out his entire significant education and makes him thick? It's hardly knowledge integral to the running of our country

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/07/2024 11:58

bellinisurge · Today 11:15
I think Lammy too. He's thick. You can only hide that for so long

Graduates of SOAS and Harvard tend not to be thick.

What you mean is, he doesn’t agree with you.

I agree. Given the state of public services and the cost of living crisis crippling us all, you'd think people would want stability and for the Government to succeed – for their sakes, their families' sakes, their children's sakes. It's such a defeatist attitude to want the country to keep failing.
