I wasn't allowed to watch ITV, BBC only! I'm not sure what the reason was.

This! ITV is common (still only watch it for live sport 😂)

Tupperwarefan · 06/07/2024 23:11

Watch Grange Hill incase it frightened me

JumpstartMondays · 06/07/2024 23:11

Wasn't allowed to throw balls in the house.

WetBandits · 06/07/2024 23:13

We were never allowed pick’n’mix in case we got threadworms from other people touching the sweets Grin

Have had pick’n’mix many times since childhood and no surprises!

CraftyNavySeal · 06/07/2024 23:13

Have clogs or platforms.

CountdownCat · 06/07/2024 23:14

thaegumathteth · 06/07/2024 23:15

Go guising (trick or treating)
Eat anywhere but at the dining table

Adverts? That was why my mum used to keep our viewing to BBC.

The "pester" advertising targeting children for stuff we couldn't afford was just something she she thought we could do without.

scotstarstrikestwo · 06/07/2024 23:21

Guising

Watch anything but neighbours

Couldn't get away with not liking certain foods

Get my ears pierced

There's loads more but can't think

Overthebow · 06/07/2024 23:24

I wasn’t allowed to cry.

Also wasn’t allowed to speak in the wrong tone of voice, though I never understood what that meant so was always getting it wrong.

gravitytester · 06/07/2024 23:26

Have a tamagotchi. I'm still bitter about it now, tbh.

Kyros · 06/07/2024 23:27

We were BBC only because my mum didn't want to have to deal with incessant I wanting!

I did the same with mine when they were tiny. CBeebies only.

TuesdayWhistler · 06/07/2024 23:27

Me.nan never let us in the front room.

"Don't go in your granddad's room, he'll have your hands off."

To little me, it was like a mystery room full of untold illicit treasures.

In reality, it was a pretty sad and lonely room with a comfy chair, a record player, a telly and shelves full of old records. It all stank of smoke and mold.

Motherrr · 06/07/2024 23:27

Not allowed fizzy drinks except at parties (good thing really!)
No eating on the sofa

Alicewinn · 06/07/2024 23:27

No sesame street

PinkSunsetSky · 06/07/2024 23:28

Get a perm
Get a Mr Frosty

fourelementary · 06/07/2024 23:29

Wasn’t allowed bubblegum or chewing gum.
Wasn't allowed to eat meals not at the table.
Wasn't allowed a pet.

loropianalover · 06/07/2024 23:30

We weren’t allowed fizzy drinks ever, or dessert at restaurants.

MoonlightMedicine · 06/07/2024 23:31

Ride my bike on the busy main road
Stay out after dark
Scream (unless it was an actual emergency)

Nothing unreasonable:)

thaegumathteth · 06/07/2024 23:31

Oh yes I wasn't allowed to cry either - only times I can remember it being allowed was when someone / a pet died. Otherwise 'no bubbling'

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 06/07/2024 23:32

Get a perm
Speak in a 'local' accent
Watch Dallas
Hang around
