I'm sure Larry tweeted that he's looking forward to having another cat in No 10 who will be doing the hard work of catching the mice ☺️

Yes unfortunately Larry got his work ethic from his Tory minders 😂

This actually made me snort over my (non-Rishi) sandwich!
Straws...clutching...much?

"Can you take a call from the President?"

Tell him I'm busy. I'm watching the football.

Do you think it's ever "acceptable" to do that!!

PMSL at an actual quote from a thread on AIBU

They might have won all those seats but it's hardly a huge mandate

Some people are fucking stupid and I will always call it out.

Yeah I responded that when it was the Torys it wa a inside red a huge mandate - so what's good for the goose ....:!

Good news from France

Isn’t it? It will doubtless upset some people though.

pointythings · 07/07/2024 19:26

Really good news, between this and the UK results it makes me feel more hopeful.

grannycake · 07/07/2024 19:34

So pleased at the news from France! I spend time there every year and love the country and the people

IClaudine · 07/07/2024 19:35

Was just coming on to say good news about France. Tops off the last few days nicely! Might put a spoke in Farage's wheel.

I do love Larry. I also love that Keir is a cat guy. I knew I liked him. 😂

He owes us some cat tax though. Can't be having a new feline resident of Downing Street and no picture!

tobee · 07/07/2024 19:39

Hourra!

bravo la France! 🇫🇷

NoDishiForRishi · 07/07/2024 19:39

Also, great news from France.

Igotjelly · 07/07/2024 19:42

Thank god for the French result 💙🤍❤️ a much easier and friendlier partnership for Starmer!

Igotjelly · 07/07/2024 19:43

Jordan Bardella claiming that the French people were ‘denied a RN victory’ (much like the Brits were ‘denied’ a Reform victory)…..fairly certain that’s how democracy works 😑 rather the French people denied RN a victory.

The grown ups are back in politics it would appear!

The grown ups are back in politics it would appear!

Please tell that to the voters in the US. 🤞🏻
To paraphrase Princess Leia..
This is their most desperate hour. Help them, O MNetters.

TimeForRishiByeByes · 07/07/2024 20:07

I'm telling that to Joe Biden first, would definitely prefer him over the tango alternative but I definitely think he should reconsider running.

tobee · 07/07/2024 20:22

I wish there was a way of knowing whether JB dropping out and being replaced would be the correct call or more harm than good for absolute definite

Edited

At this stage Biden’s chances of winning in the key swing states against Trump are almost zero.

tobee · 07/07/2024 20:25

Maybe, but are they even more zero with a replacement? 🤔 Plus it's still a few months out and what will it be like then? 😬

SerendipityJane · 07/07/2024 20:34

The first line of attack of fascists is that the "the vote was unfair" and then attempts to deny its legitimacy. It's a signature tell.

Igotjelly · 07/07/2024 20:34

His continued appearances (e.g. at rallies and in his recent television interview with ABC) have only fuelled fears of cognitive decline, nothing they do now will allow him to win. Not to mention he has point blank refused to take a cognitive assessment and release the results. He certainly isn’t going to get any younger between now and Nov.

There are a number of options for the nomination (each with their own pros and cons) for example:

  1. Kamala Harris - the obvious choice and would have access to the funds and to Biden’s delegates. She polls poorly but has proven to be effective on issues such as abortion.
  2. Gretchin Whitmer - Governor of Michigan (a state the Dems need to win) recently reelected. She seems to be a popularchoice.
  3. Gavin Newsom - Governor of California. Very young, attractive and charismatic. Not likely to do well in the rust belt states due to California’s ‘woke’ policies etc.

That recent debate performance was awful for Trump and any young candidate with even the slightest vigor would have run rings around him. The issue is that Biden was just so much worse. Pretty much everyone (other than the Bidens) seem to think he needs to go in order for them to have any chance at winning.

prettybird · 07/07/2024 20:36

I don't know they seem to be so shocked at the French results Confused: this is exactly how I predicted it would play out Halo
