Is anyone else thoroughly uninspired by Keir Starmar

Keir Starmar isn’t even officially PM yet, just feel he’s uninspiring. I’m a former Labour Party member but just not sure he’ll actually be able to make our lives better. He hasn’t given us much of a vision to get behind. He’s no Tony Blair or Jeremy Corbyn. He’s just not Tory?!

Hoping he’s a great PM but not getting that feeling.

Decent guy who I hope will do a good job of turning the country around. We’ve just been through the last days of Rome with all the excesses of the last incumbents. I don’t think Starmer is in it to line his pockets. I wish him (and all of us) success

Well no he’s already worth 8 million, neither him or sunak were in it for money they are loaded

I think he's very inspiring. That speech outside No 10 was perfect 👌. I have so much hope.

The speech was good, and has given me some hope.

His speech was great. Just what I needed to hear.

I enjoyed his speech, I do have hope that they can stop the rot. I doubt they'll turn everything around, I doubt the country will be as successful as they hope but one thing I do know is things will be better overall than if the tories stayed in charge. Solid and boring works for me.

Beats me. I always assumed it had todo with thinking he'd be fun to hang out with (i mean, the sheer number of children by who knows how many women was a pretty clear sign that some people did like hanging out with him). But yes, I agree it never made sense.

I reckon the bumbling "posho" did it for people he acted like a human labrador! Just baffled me.

ImMoId · 05/07/2024 13:08

I think he's going to tax us into oblivion. Yay.

Why do you need to be inspired by him?

He came from an ordinary background to lead the CPS. He took a political party that was dead on its feet and gave them a massive landslide.

Why are people determined he's not capable just because he comes across as a normal bloke more than the buffoons characters we've had over the last few years?

Edited

Exactly this! He’s a prime minister, not Taylor Swift. We had an ‘entertainer’ in Boris and that’s what charisma and performance over quiet substance gets you.

I do completely that it’s important to have a vision and to feel inspired by a plan, but there are other ways to be a leader.

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 05/07/2024 13:08

I liked his speech too. I also liked how almost every sentence you could hear the underlying message - vs random slogans. I almost felt emotional.

I can get inspiration from the dandelions and the clouds if I do wish, I can be the change I want be in the world and all that. All I need of Keir is decent, reliable, solid and positive leadership

So well put and made me 😂

Sourisblanche · 05/07/2024 13:10

I voted LD but thought it was a very good speech. I’m hopeful KS can turn the country around after years of Tory chaos, incompetence and corruption.

H34th · 05/07/2024 13:10

His words were inspiring. End the era of noisy performance. Calm and patient rebuilding. I have hope!

TheFairyCaravan · 05/07/2024 13:13

The country has gone to hell in a handcart these past 14yrs. We need someone calm and stable now to try to sort it out. I don’t want to be inspired by Keir Starmer, I want him to undo the mess we’re in

I feel that Kier Starmar is fundamentally a decent man. I think his moral compass is in the right place. Maybe he is too nice to be prime minster but honestly after the personality politics of the last few years maybe solid & boring is what we need.

I guess time will tell..............

Agree. Decent, even if dull, is what this country needs. We've had enough clowns.

SwingingVoter · 05/07/2024 13:15

Politics being quiet! I think they will get louder unless quieter by suppression.

Summerfreezemakesmedrinkwine · 05/07/2024 13:15

I don't actually have any faith in nice words now. I'm willing to suspend my cynicism for 6 months before I throw all hope to the wind. And that's as good as it gets.

So I’m a conservative voter - however I quite like Kier. I think he seems a decent man. I was torn who to vote for because I like him personally. I’m hoping on the global stage he’s not wet and is strong enough to go against the heads of other countries in such an unstable time.

newnamethanks · 05/07/2024 13:19

Oh dear OP. Never mind, I expect something a bit more brutal will come along shortly. In the interim, KS will do nicely. It's great to see a grown up back in Number 10 and I expect he'll do well without your support.

Moier · 05/07/2024 13:20

Always comes across as not intelligent enough to me and too laid back.

bringbacksideburns · 05/07/2024 13:20

When he said ‘We did it!’ I did inwardly cringe. It was very David Brent.

However he’s centrist and we needed to appeal to the Tory voters with a safe bet.
We have had 14 years of this circus.
Oh no, 10 percent of the population have schools who have to pay more tax! ( Tiny violin at first world problems)

Today is a better day than yesterday.

YouJustDoYou · 05/07/2024 13:20

It's like he doesn't have his own thoughts or wants at all, he just flip flops around saying what he thinks voters want to hear, depending on who it is he's speaking to. Absolutely no idea whatsoever what the man truly wants.

Bewareofthisonetoo · 05/07/2024 13:22

Is he going to knock off at 6pm today?

newnamethanks · 05/07/2024 13:24

Oh dear. Give it up, at least for a day. You can indulge your twisted thinking tomorrow when everyone's had some sleep and has enough energy to laugh at you.

Myblindsaredown · 05/07/2024 13:25

Bewareofthisonetoo · 05/07/2024 13:22

Is he going to knock off at 6pm today?

Well it is Friday,,,

mrandmrsrobinson · 05/07/2024 13:27

It doesn't matter whether you feel inspired or not. His bluff has been called and now it's show your hand time, cards on the table. Let's see. I predict more bollox, more moronic decisions and corruption.
