Is anyone else thoroughly uninspired by Keir Starmar

Keir Starmar isn’t even officially PM yet, just feel he’s uninspiring. I’m a former Labour Party member but just not sure he’ll actually be able to make our lives better. He hasn’t given us much of a vision to get behind. He’s no Tony Blair or Jeremy Corbyn. He’s just not Tory?!

Hoping he’s a great PM but not getting that feeling.

And that means he can't be a good PM because...?

He can certainly do what the Tories couldn't. He could privatise the NHS and nobody would bat an eyelid because it's Labour doing it instead of the Tories. Just like Blair partially did. He could stop the boats and again nobody would care, because it's Labour doing it.

NasiDagang · 05/07/2024 12:47

I would rather have a boring prime minister than Rishi Sunak the dick.

I don’t need to be inspired by him, I need him to be a solid PM and try to undo some of the worst excesses of the last 14 years.

This !

He's sensible, clearly very intelligent and hard-working, has a good team of people around him. To be honest I think we've had enough excitement- I want him to come in and get on with it, and I think that's what he'll do.

Re home building it's exploded around me, huge flats, estates have gone up with constant opposition. I can't imagine more building?

grumpypedestrian · 05/07/2024 12:48

Similar to a PP I thought I’d be really happy with a Labour win. But with Starmer being a red Tory I don’t have much hope.

I don’t care about personality I just want someone with principles who cares about helping people. His manifesto was uninspiring and thin.

Have people already forgotten he dropped every pledge he made to be Labour leader?

SwingingVoter · 05/07/2024 12:49

Rishi was boring.

Theedgeoftheabyss · 05/07/2024 12:49

God all fucking mighty.... It's not meant to be a popularity contest. He's a man. He represents his party. Anything has to be better than the absolute shitshow we've endured.

Personally I think KS comes across more personable and believable than slimeball Tony Blair ever did.

Yes agree on Blair v starmer!

I have no idea why Boris was so popular the man is a clown was it the bumbling act that endeared him to people ?

Beats me. I always assumed it had todo with thinking he'd be fun to hang out with (i mean, the sheer number of children by who knows how many women was a pretty clear sign that some people did like hanging out with him). But yes, I agree it never made sense.

StopStartStop · 05/07/2024 12:52

i am unispired by keir starmer. i saw him last time he was in government, when he was younger, fitter and still immensely disappointing. But fucks' sakes -- what else have we got?

Theunamedcat · 05/07/2024 12:53

We need a grafter not a clown

Doveytail · 05/07/2024 12:54

I feel that Kier Starmar is fundamentally a decent man. I think his moral compass is in the right place. Maybe he is too nice to be prime minster but honestly after the personality politics of the last few years maybe solid & boring is what we need.

I guess time will tell..............

Lol a good person doesn’t actively support the murder of thousands of people , because it’s suits his political agendas.

ProvincialLady2024 · 05/07/2024 12:54

He's more inspiring than the last three!

We don't need a smiley showman; a sensible, steady pragmatic leader will perhaps do wonders.

He’s never been in government before today!

Rishi was boring.

I used to work in finance. Rishi always struck me as very similar to many of the successful bankers I worked with - they weren't bad people and genuinely had good intentions. But they just operated in a world completely different to the rest of us as a result of their wealth, yes, but also the world in which they lived in where dry, emotionalness intellect, ambition etc are prized more than anything else. Even when they come from more modest beginnings, they take this view that "if I made it, anyone can". And as a result, they have zero ability to understand the world.

I can easily see someone like Sunak being someone I would have liked as an internal client in banking, someone who would have had good relationships with others and who would have been considered one of the good guys.

But as prime minister? Clueless and awful. I felt sorry for him oftne. He just didn't understand why everyone hated him.

Moonshine5 · 05/07/2024 12:58

We are crying out for boring politics. They're running the country not auditioning for I'm A Celebrity.
Please please bring on the uninspired, boring, grey, dull politics. PLEASE.

missmousemouth · 05/07/2024 12:58

I think he's very inspiring. That speech outside No 10 was perfect 👌. I have so much hope.

ElleLeopine · 05/07/2024 12:58

I thought his speech was brilliant. Humble, sober, level headed, but definitely very inspirational!

Nope.

RoseyLentil · 05/07/2024 13:03

I'm inspired.
A government to serve not rule.
People first not party.
Rebuilding our broken country.

Not you again with your insults! Do grow up!

Cattery · 05/07/2024 13:04

Decent guy who I hope will do a good job of turning the country around. We’ve just been through the last days of Rome with all the excesses of the last incumbents. I don’t think Starmer is in it to line his pockets. I wish him (and all of us) success

Myblindsaredown · 05/07/2024 13:04

I find him quite dull, I really do.
