Is anyone else thoroughly uninspired by Keir Starmar

Keir Starmar isn’t even officially PM yet, just feel he’s uninspiring. I’m a former Labour Party member but just not sure he’ll actually be able to make our lives better. He hasn’t given us much of a vision to get behind. He’s no Tony Blair or Jeremy Corbyn. He’s just not Tory?!

Hoping he’s a great PM but not getting that feeling.

I can get inspiration from the dandelions and the clouds if I do wish, I can be the change I want be in the world and all that. All I need of Keir is decent, reliable, solid and positive leadership

SwingingVoter · 05/07/2024 12:25

@HowIrresponsible that's very true and the conservatives where an absolute mess.

DrRiverSong · 05/07/2024 12:27

I want someone who is going to work hard, take the job seriously, and be considered. I think he will be very good in that regard. I’m also not inspired by people talking the talk, but by people walking the walk. I’ll be interested to see what the first 3 months brings.

I don't need to be inspired by him, I need to trust him. I think he is solid and dependable and will do what he can for the people of the uk.

Velvian · 05/07/2024 12:29

I don't need to be inspired by a PM. Time will tell. Charisma can be a negative in a leader.

Pennyandolive · 05/07/2024 12:29

Well… Hitler was a charismatic leader and look how that turned out!

I’ll stick with hopefully balanced, fair and steady and hope we are about to see some recovery for our country.

SwingingVoter · 05/07/2024 12:30

But I don't trust him, I know unfortunately his behaviour around his own mp and trans etc means he can't be trusted. He has flip flopped and switched all the time.

VolvoFan · 05/07/2024 12:30

He has no charisma and he sounds like his nose is pegged shut when he speaks.

Mojodojocasahous · 05/07/2024 12:31

We’ve had too many showmen/women. Hopefully he will be diligent and get shit done rather than being all gloss and social media

I feel that Kier Starmar is fundamentally a decent man. I think his moral compass is in the right place. Maybe he is too nice to be prime minster but honestly after the personality politics of the last few years maybe solid & boring is what we need.

I guess time will tell..............

This is what I think he's a decent man who wants to do his best, you don't always need to be "dazzling" to get things done.

Stripesandchecks543 · 05/07/2024 12:33

Just want integrity, a determination to change fundamental inequalities, and prudent, measured competence thanks after the last lot of shysters.

mumsthewordi · 05/07/2024 12:33

I feel like I can trust him
But not a fan of the policies

So at odds

LizTruss · 05/07/2024 12:34

Whilst I can't say he is one of my besties, if he needs any advice on being PM, I'm happy to help.

I have done that job, you know.

cupcaske123 · 05/07/2024 12:34

Can't stand Starmer. I can't stand his about face when he became leader and the purge he carried out afterwards. He completely choked the left in the party.

Squareplate · 05/07/2024 12:35

VolvoFan · 05/07/2024 12:30

He has no charisma and he sounds like his nose is pegged shut when he speaks.

And that means he can't be a good PM because...?

Mulhollandmagoo · 05/07/2024 12:36

Lots of people were 'inspired' by Boris Johnson, and look where that got us!!!!

DogInATent · 05/07/2024 12:37

Do we need inspiring and charismatic, or do we just need someone calm and rational to bring politics back to an even keel, take the shouty out, and get things done?

Feelingmentallyunsettled · 05/07/2024 12:40

So after the Tories we now have Tory Lite.

I was " brought up" Labour and was a Labour party member until Tony Blair became leader and the party stopped being socialist.

Having lived in Scotland for many years I'm an independence supporter. So these election results have been painful for me - even though I never thought I'd live to see the day when ousting a Tory government wasn't a source of sheer pleasure to me.

The only thing that made me smile was hearing the moment when Jeremy Corbyn's result was announced and the shout of sheer joy from his supporters. I'm so pleased he got re elected.

Labour have a massive majority which SHOULD allow them to make a big change for the better but I don't have any hope or faith they will.

At least spell his name right!

I will never understand this cult of personality in politics. Boris Johnson was, arguably, one of the worst prime ministers this coutnry has ever had but becaue he was "likeable" everyone let him get away with it.

I don't want a prime minister I could go drinking with or who will come with me to a football match. I want a prime minister who is competent, sensible, pragmatic, effective. And THIS is what we're getting here. He has proven he is extraordinarily competent - in his first career as a barrister, then in his second as leader of the labour party and now, I hope, in his third as prime minister. As far as we know, he is broadly an honest and decent man.

I'm thrilled.

That's just childish. My autocorrect always changes it to something else.

Firdbeeder · 05/07/2024 12:43

He’s the Prime Minister, it’s a serious role, he’s not a Britain’s Got Talent TV jester. I’m very happy with him as PM. He needs to be able to put together and lead a competent cabinet and manage our international relations diplomatically and I’m more than confident he’ll be able to do that better than any PM of the last 14 years.

grumpypedestrian · 05/07/2024 12:44

Integrity? Starmer? Really?

He U turned on every pledge he made to be Labour leader, kicked out anyone he thought would challenge him, u turned on net zero.

I’d love to be proven wrong and he uses this majority to do anything good, but I doubt it.

I have no idea why Boris was so popular the man is a clown was it the bumbling act that endeared him to people ?

SwingingVoter · 05/07/2024 12:46

But when he says he will respect every single person in this country, I can't feel he's talking about me or my family.
We've turned a blind eye whilst nurses are forced to share changing rooms with men!
