Anyone else out there who hasn't had Covid?

Lilifer · 03/07/2024 20:15

I have yet to get Covid. Both me and my mum (85years old) have never had it or at least have never tested positive.

I think this is really strange as pretty much everyone else that I know has had it and some have had it multiple times over and been really ill.

What also makes it odd is that I have a chronic low white blood cell count which is not life threatening but supposedly leaves me more vulnerable to illness.

The longer it goes on the more I am hoping that maybe I somehow have some immunity to this virus, or maybe I'm just really lucky, I hope that continues 🙏🙏

Unless I had it asymptomatically, I have not had it.

I'd like to think in part because of the actions I took in 2020 and 2021 especially, in part because I was able to work from home.

gamerchick · 03/07/2024 20:17

I haven't had it either.

Jutemat · 03/07/2024 20:18

Dont test for it and you'll never get it

Yup! And I work in a school and worked throughout lockdown. Never had it. No idea how I have escaped, some of my colleagues are up to 4 times now.

sorrynotathome · 03/07/2024 20:19

I haven’t had it. I’ve never had flu either. I’ve had plenty of other things though - I’m not claiming to be immune to disease. I’ve been vaccinated and have tested plenty.

FeatherBoas · 03/07/2024 20:19

Me my DH and DD haven't had it, although we were really careful at the start and had the vax.

TheKingCobraIsNotStrictlySpeakingACobra · 03/07/2024 20:20

My husband has never tested positive despite me having it 3 times, and I’m pretty sure my DD caught it from me. He’s never caught it from us once despite doing all the running around after us on each occasion. We never isolated or disinfected anything etc etc

Ellerby83 · 03/07/2024 20:22

One of my ds has never had
It's been around the house twice so think he has some sort of immunity.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 03/07/2024 20:22

My 3 kids and my husband have never had it. That's 3 kids in 3 different schools, and DH who travels to London on the train and tube 5-6 days a week..

I've had it 3 times, but it was nothing worse than a bad cold. I managed to wfh during it, although was desperate for my bed the whole time.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/07/2024 20:24

Dd2’s partner has never had it AFAIK. Even when the other 12 of us had it a couple of Christmases ago, he tested negative. But he never even gets a cold either, so I have to assume he has some special immunity.

Notcms · 03/07/2024 20:25

Neither myself or my kids have had it.
We were extremely careful - shielded, and vaccinated quickly due to health.
Still not caught it unless we've been asymptomatic and not known.

I am in the same situation - as in unless asymptomatically I haven’t had it either. I did have the three initial doses of vaccine.

But I carried on as normal, or as normally as i could, in 2020 and 2021. I was semi retired, so didn’t work at all in 2020. But I carried on meeting up with people, travelled round Europe in the summer of that year and also flew to the Caribbean in the autumn. I ate out to help out, Had gatherings in my garden and in local parks. Was happy to go shopping for me and my neighbours I was a volunteer for the NHS and took a very flexible approach to the world of ‘bubbles’. I also walked a lot, and also continued PT sessions with my trainer in the garden. I was the fittest I’d been for ages!!

RockaLock · 03/07/2024 20:26

AKAIK I have never had covid, and nor has DS2.

DS1 has had it only once, fairly early on after the first lockdowns, and DH only once, much more recently. But neither time did anyone else in our household catch it from them.

LittleGreenDuck · 03/07/2024 20:27

To my knowledge I've never had it and neither have my two DSs. DD had it asymptomatically in January 2021 (testing due to a school outbreak) and DH had it in summer 2022. None of us have ever caught it from each other.

I work in a hospital and worked all
throughout lockdowns, but that does mean I was also entitled to all the vaccines.

We were all horribly ill over Christmas and New Year 2022, I could well have believed it was Covid, but we all tested several times and none of us ever got a positive.

Onelifeonly · 03/07/2024 20:29

I've never knowingly had it, despite working in a school during the pandemic, where the vast majority of the staff did. We had to test twice weekly too - never had a positive result. Never been significantly unwell since either. (Worst I've felt in the past few years was for a few hours following a covid vaccination!)

JohnnySoda · 03/07/2024 20:34

Quite a lot of my family have never had it including my DC1, sister, BIL and FIL. None were particularly careful, and DC1 was in school for majority of lockdowns. All lived with other family members who had it but didn't catch it.

ZekeZeke · 03/07/2024 20:39

Never had it, neither has DH or DS. We have (unknowingly) been around plenty of people with it.
I actually never catch cold, like ever. I'm always warm as is DH and DS.
Example, in Iceland we wore T shirts in November. People took photos of us!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 03/07/2024 20:43

Dd never had it.

Then she caught it at Taylor Swift in June. We thought she was immune.

Noosnom · 03/07/2024 20:45

Just my mum. She's avoided it twice in her house too.

I didn't catch it until 2023 and it got me again last month.

AppleCream · 03/07/2024 20:46

DD has never had it, even when the rest of the family all got it.

See I wasn't suprised that I didn't get it in 2020/21 becasue of lockdown, but I'm more suprised that I didn't get it in the years since lockdown as have returned to normal socialising and travelling and presumably the effect of vaccine has worn off by now or become less effective due to variants

Wow that's even more suprising if you work in a school setting!

I haven't. Dh has twice...we still slept in same bed.
I work in a school environment.

I have been less careful than most of my family because I didn't really feel at any threat from Covid, friends and family who have had 1st and second dose and 3 more boosters and who have work masks long beyond when they were required have all gone down with it many times - it's awful to see how ill they are, I really wish that they could avoid it.
