Anyone else out there who hasn't had Covid?

Lilifer · 03/07/2024 20:15

I have yet to get Covid. Both me and my mum (85years old) have never had it or at least have never tested positive.

I think this is really strange as pretty much everyone else that I know has had it and some have had it multiple times over and been really ill.

What also makes it odd is that I have a chronic low white blood cell count which is not life threatening but supposedly leaves me more vulnerable to illness.

The longer it goes on the more I am hoping that maybe I somehow have some immunity to this virus, or maybe I'm just really lucky, I hope that continues 🙏🙏

Neither DH or I have had it. DH vaccinated at the very beginning, took first booster, not had any since.

Me : never vaccinated. Actually have only had one cold since all this started, used to have two or three every winter. Perhaps Covid has killed off all the other 🦠 (only joking).

It is completely possible that there will be some people with a natural immunity. Some priests during the Black Death gave the last rites to many parishioners, (unlike our craven current set) and survived unscathed.

I've never had it that I know off, had tested multiple times when I have felt ill.
However in December 2019, a colleague I sat next to had two weeks off with a strange virus.
I also started feeling unwell, so much so I had to go home from work during the day and had a couple of more days off sick. I always wonder if that was Covid. It wasn't really known about at the time.

This came on my Twitter today from a nurse (related to voting in the election). Something we should never forget

“I took this photo in October 2020, at this point I was running on fumes. I was exhausted to my bones.

I was nursing 15 COVID patients each shift, I was struggling to process everything. I would go 12/13 hours without a break, I would have colleagues bring me a drink and make me drink it because they had not seen me eat or drink anything.

Aside from 15 COVID patients, it had become a daily occurrence to see people die. I will never forget my final shift before I had a breakdown, I found one of my patients face down dead in the corner of the side room. I had spent my day desperately trying to get a doctor to see him, desperately trying to get enough PPE and staff so he could be 1.1 whilst he had non invasive ventilation.

I carry that death with me always, along with all the others. Their deaths stay with me, I keep their memory alive as a reminder of why it is so important to get rid of this self serving government. Please vote tomorrow.

I will never forgive this government for how they managed the Pandemic.”

Brazil never really bothered about the vaccine, didn't roll it out. Statistically the UK deaths in % were worse. Make of that what you will

Worldometer statistics, it's all there. Get your calculator out as I did.

Dd never had it.

Then she caught it at Taylor Swift in June. We thought she was immune.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Even goddesses are susceptible!

Those who didn't have the vaccine are probably least inclined to test though, so you can take that with a pinch of salt.

Both me and my husband were tested weekly at work, and neither of us had the jabs, nor had covid.

Houseofboys22 · 04/07/2024 17:24

Yup..... 3 of us in this house have never had it. My parents who live next door and we see all the time have had it twice!

Worldgonecrazy · 04/07/2024 17:35

Never had it, DH never had it. DD never had it. DF never had it. DM never had it.

Both DH and I worked all the way through, me on public transport. Carried on as normally as possible.

We don’t get many colds or other viruses either. We put it down to a healthy diet, exercise and time spent outdoors.

Whoosie · 04/07/2024 18:04

I’ve never had it, the rest of my household have had it multiple times and I never have. I still test regularly and haven’t been ill. I haven’t even had a cold for years 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Approximately 81.8 percent of Brazilians were fully vaccinated with the recommended amount of doses for immunization. Brazil ranked fifth among Latin American countries with the largest number of COVID-19 vaccination doses per 100 population.

Thanks for the link. I had read somewhere that the African countries generally managed Covid well. I meant that they managed better than was feared. This data confirms that.

Me and 19 yr old ds have never caught covid. We have both been vaccinated.

Many countries handled Covid better than the UK. The UK was too slow to lockdown - could have made a significant difference to the number of deaths.

DeftLemonDog · 07/07/2024 12:34

Yes. I was in Australia and we locked down quite fast. And closed our borders promptly too. Australians were advised to return home promptly from overseas. But after a certain period it was more difficult for them to return.

Any further lockdowns were usually due to Covid leaks from quarantine.

I remember following what was happening in the UK and early on we were considered to be about 2 weeks behind the UK in case numbers, but that didn’t happen because of our lockdown.

I think it’s because they have a younger population and less obesity. Two huge risk factors.

Plus the weather - warmer means they are outdoors more. And some evidence to say that they have some cross-reactivity immunity after being exposed to more viruses in earlier life.

Here- I think those that worked in schools and hospitals and didn’t catch Covid must have either had some innate immunity. Or (and I think this is the case for a lot of people) they were exposed to small amounts of the virus, their body fraught this off without becoming ill or testing positive and therefore you have some immunity.
This is a good thing. (And why on some level, after the initial lockdown, I was opposed to further lockdowns for all - should have been more targeted).

justasking111 · 07/07/2024 12:49

I went on flight radar a number of times. The inbound flights were carry on regardless especially from Italy. Outgoing much fewer. I found that odd.

fussychica · 07/07/2024 13:34

Unless I've had it asymptomatically I've not had it. Tested when DH had it, stayed negative.
Teacher DS and his A&E nurse partner have both had it multiple times varying from quite unpleasant to very mild. Everyone I know has had it at least once, fortunately none of them severely.

Terri090 · 04/02/2025 13:13

My dad and I have never had COVID (we live in two separate houses too). When the pandemic first hit I had a house full of COVID, my son (who's now had it 3 times), my daughter (who's had it twice) and my partner at the time were rife with the disease. I thought it was unavoidable that I was going to catch it because they all needed looking after, so I didn't take precautions, but it never came. Since then I have had ill children with COVID a few times and still never contracted the virus, despite testing. My mum has it last year and my dad never caught it either. So who knows, very interesting though.

CherryRipe1 · 04/02/2025 16:25

Yes 3 of my friends who are conspiracy theorists & unvaccinated. A fourth unvaccinated actually got it badly & now on steroids and oxygen.

Patterncarmen · 04/02/2025 16:28

Nope, never had it unless asymptomatic. I had a bad cold this year, but tested negative and didn’t have the COVID specific symptoms. Worked at home, in rural area, and had the vaccines.

Cynic17 · 04/02/2025 16:30

Neither me nor my husband have had it, as far as we know, but neither of us have ever taken a test. And, obviously, the "need" to test disappeared years ago, so it will never happen.
We are both fully vaccinated, so maybe the vaccines actually did their job?

AsGoodasIOnceWas · 04/02/2025 16:32

Never had it. Never tested. Never been unwell.
