Anyone else think there might be something strange about the 19yr old disappearance in Tenerife?

I get that kids do foolish things, like travelling at night with 2 strangers.

But if he was seen at the new accommodation around 8am, and again walking briskly along the road some time “later”, how could he have needed to make a call at 8.30am saying he was lost, had no phone charge and needed water? He would have only just left the accommodation so definitely wouldn’t need water. And why not send your gps or what three words location then?

As someone who went to quite a lot of parties when I was younger… tbh his behaviour sounds pretty normal.

Festival with his mates, goes back to someone’s to keep the party going, decides he needs to leave in the morning, hasn’t been asleep for 24+ hours and has taken some eerrr… stuff.

Pretty normal night out IMO.

Yeah I agree with this. I remember walking 5 miles after a party, across the countryside at 5 am with a friend. No idea if we were going in the right direction and all we had with us was half a bag of Doritos and a bottle of cider 🙄

We were lucky and basically stumbled on where we needed to be but it obviously could have ended quite differently. People do stupid stuff all the time. I'm not sure there's much more to this than went back for after party, woke up with a bit of the terrors and just wanted to get home. Probably thought of he started walking he'd get a bus eventually.

Poor decision making - wait 2 hours for the next bus, or embark on a 10 hour walk through the mountains.

That's the drugs making him believe he can do it

I meant wait and get a lift

Maybe she never said she was going to give him a lift? She only went out there after he had been missing for hours and she couldn't contact him so how did he know she was going to turn up?

SebastianFlytesTrousers · 22/06/2024 09:49

The internet abounds with theories from Poundland Bergeracs on this one.

The lad has a dodgy past, there are drugs involved - supply thereof. He's made some people high up in the supply of said drugs very unhappy, and has now disappeared. This will probably end as these things usually do.

CatMumSlave · 22/06/2024 09:53

Just to answer those questions.

He probably has no clue what WTW are.

He would probably be dehydrated due to drinking the night before so even a couple of glasses of water wouldn't bake much difference.

Some of the theories on that FB page are quite amusing I have to say. FB at its finest.

I think his criminal past (google his name and the word machete) is making many people think twice. Plus the really piss poor decision making.

Underneath it all he probably has stupidly wandered off and got lost/fallen.

I can see why there is speculation though, given his background.

That's exactly what I've been thinking. Very suspicious @justamoomintroll

No, I don’t think there’s anything mysterious about it. Just as there was nothing mysterious about Nicola Bulley and Michael Moseley in the end. The most obvious answer is usually the correct one.

Exactly this. The unfortunate things in life that you hope aren't going to be true sadly usually are.

He could have said please can you collect me later this morning. There are restaurants close to where he was so he could have rested there.
Waiting a couple of hours for a lift vs 10 hour walk is very odd.

He’s a young lad thinking he’s invincible, it’s really not that odd at all.

From what I’ve read elsewhere his friend didn’t drive there she was given a lift up by an unconnected lady after he was reported missing. I guess the unconnected lady was trying to help once the alarm has been raised. It might have been more difficult to get a lift up there to fetch him if it just involved having to ask random strangers to drive a two hour round trip just to pick someone up

Misthios · 22/06/2024 10:01

I also agree that the crazy conspiracy theories are just ridiculous. Occam's Razor says the most likely explanation is probably the truth. So that is that he made poor decisions and wandered off because he was under the influence of drugs/drink, set off to walk and got into trouble.

Ah, I see, thanks 😊

The Go Fund Me is a total scam and anyone who donates to it needs their head examined.

Allegedly the second one raised by that person to find a missing friend.

Well yeah, but have you met young blokes on holiday? It’s really silly but typical behaviour, loads of ridiculous decisions get made like this when people are on holiday, just normally they’re lucky and things work out.

Young people do ‘unwise’ (or stupid, even) things all the time. I think back to situations where my friends and I were drunk and things could have gone badly. Luckily we were always fine but sometimes bad decisions lead to bad outcomes. Some of the conspiracy theories are a bit crazy.

As for the gofundme, hotels aren’t free and his family and friends are out there looking for him, so I don’t judge them for setting one up.

My favourite was the person who asked if their Labrador with 'a very sensitive nose' could possibly be of help.

Very much so. The MN grief tourists and conspiracy nut jobs just can’t help themselves.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 22/06/2024 10:10

I do feel sorry for his family and friends. Hopefully it is nothing more than he got lost in heat.

Sweetenuf · 22/06/2024 10:12

The 2 men he travelled with after the rave? Where are they? Who are they? Have they come forward or been identified by police

They didn’t leave Tenerife in a hurry as a pp said . They were due to return back to London anyway as they’d only booked the villa for 5 days, but they actually stayed an extra night to assist police with enquiries. The police have got their details if they are needed again.

His last sightings/calls were from outside of that house and he was by himself. The two men were probably sleeping or packing and there’s nothing to suggest they later followed him out. So I think that’s a red herring.

Kazzy5055 · 22/06/2024 10:15

100% agree @cheezncrackers

Chenecinquantecinq · 22/06/2024 10:16

I laugh at conspiracy theories but the way his friend reported him missing does not add up. Nobody would immediately call police straight after putting phone down unless it was a child who was lost. Unless they knew more had gone on.

Totally agree, there’s probably thousands of near miss situations like this every time young people are on holiday, in some ways it’s unusual that things don’t take a bad turn like this more often.
