Anyone else think there might be something strange about the 19yr old disappearance in Tenerife?

I get that kids do foolish things, like travelling at night with 2 strangers.

But if he was seen at the new accommodation around 8am, and again walking briskly along the road some time “later”, how could he have needed to make a call at 8.30am saying he was lost, had no phone charge and needed water? He would have only just left the accommodation so definitely wouldn’t need water. And why not send your gps or what three words location then?

Haven’t we had at least 100 threads on this already.

CalicoPusscat · 22/06/2024 08:30

Don't think it helps speculating.

Hopefully he will be located soon.

Maybe he didn't have a drink before he left?

30 mins plenty of time to get lost and start panicking

Not everyone would know about WTW / think about gps

If battery dying he wouldn't have been able to send that info anyway

His disappearance is like Nicola Bulley’s disappearance. Arm chair detectives and conspiracy theories. Let the police do their job.

Bumblebeeinatree · 22/06/2024 08:38

He said he needed a drink, he could have meant an alcoholic drink rather than water. At that point he was probably just annoyed that he was lost, not really realising how dangerous it can be to be lost in a remote, fairly barren rural area, particularly in hot weather.

NoMoreFalafelForYou · 22/06/2024 08:39

Yes it is very peculiar. There was a big thread on it yesterday that was deleted. Lots of theories. Not sure I can repeat them or the prefects will be on to do their reporting duties. Suffice to say, drugs and the illegal trade in them featured heavily plus speculation about his criminal background and his friend out there whose storytelling is like a piece of Swiss cheese.

Fulshaw · 22/06/2024 08:40

No, I don’t think there’s anything mysterious about it. Just as there was nothing mysterious about Nicola Bulley and Michael Moseley in the end. The most obvious answer is usually the correct one.

That thread wasn't deleted because of the theories.

Occam's razor - the simplest explanation is most likely the right one.

SOxon · 22/06/2024 08:43

@Bumblebeeinatree which is ?

Sillystrumpet · 22/06/2024 08:44

I think it’s very likely he is no longer with us sadly. They just need to find him. Either he has had a very tragic accident, or someone has hurt him. I hope they find him soon, for his families sake. As this must be utter torture. The cruel hope, the slow realisation.

TM1979 · 22/06/2024 08:45

The 2 men he travelled with after the rave? Where are they? Who are they? Have they come forward or been identified by police?

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 22/06/2024 08:47

It is rather strange. I hope they find him really soon

Zonder · 22/06/2024 08:48

I do find the Go Fund Me strange. It's to raise money to bring him home. How does that work?

Who created the Go Fund Me page? Also, I’m curious as to why they can’t use a helicopter to search?

Chocolatecoveredshitpig · 22/06/2024 08:52

The Go Fund Me is a total scam and anyone who donates to it needs their head examined.

His mate Lucy Mae. Proceeds go to her and Debbie - is that his mum?

I don’t think it’s that odd sadly, I think young people do very silly things a lot but usually are lucky something terrible doesn’t happen.

He was at a festival the night before where he met the people he went off with, so most likely drinking, possibly doing other things. Went back with them to keep partying, by 8am he might not even have slept.

Sobers up a bit and thinks damn where the hell am I and sets off a bit worse for wear not really knowing where he is or how far away it is, of course he’d need water, he’s hungover and dehydrated.

He did call to speak to his friend, wouldn’t necessarily occur to sent his location, especially with 1% battery.

BloodyHellKenAgain · 22/06/2024 08:56

I think the strangest thing is that he called, said he'd missed the bus and was going to walk. He sent the girl a photo of the place he was. She drove there later and identified the place from his photo. Why didn't he just get a lift from her?
The whole thing makes no sense.

It’s been reported they’re using a helicopter for days.

Because she didn’t realise it wasn’t really walkable? It was 8am, they’d all been at a festival the night before, they’d all have been hungover and not really thinking straight.

MidnightPatrol · 22/06/2024 08:58

As someone who went to quite a lot of parties when I was younger… tbh his behaviour sounds pretty normal.

Festival with his mates, goes back to someone’s to keep the party going, decides he needs to leave in the morning, hasn’t been asleep for 24+ hours and has taken some eerrr… stuff.

Pretty normal night out IMO.

This is my thinking, this kind of thing happens all the time, just usually it becomes a funny story to tell afterwards. I think a lot of replies/questions on this are coming from some people who haven’t partied much when they were younger.

Yeah, they're hoping to raise £30k apparently and have so far raised £25k. For what exactly? It's a total scam and anyone who donates is a fool.

They apparently left Tenerife in a big hurry shortly after Jay disappeared ...

I don’t normally believe online speculation but there is one particularly compelling FB post I read last night that’s convinced me he didn’t go missing of his own volition and that he might just pop up in a few days once the Go Fund Me appeal is cashed out. His friend Lucy Mae who won’t be interviewed with her face showing features heavily in the background detail.
