Anyone else think there might be something strange about the 19yr old disappearance in Tenerife?

I get that kids do foolish things, like travelling at night with 2 strangers.

But if he was seen at the new accommodation around 8am, and again walking briskly along the road some time “later”, how could he have needed to make a call at 8.30am saying he was lost, had no phone charge and needed water? He would have only just left the accommodation so definitely wouldn’t need water. And why not send your gps or what three words location then?

That GFM Is flying, over £41k now.

Same facts though. We know where the air bnb is and we know he called his 2 pals (unless theyre lying) saying he was on foot in no mans land. What else could have happenned since then? Unless some bad guys picked him up or he grew wings and flew away he's on that mountainside somewhere.
GFM is just what chavs do, its free money and nobody says no to that. Mum has already said theyre cashing some of it out.

Yes but the phonecall to his pal is new info!
The theories were springing from what we knew, and taking Lucy's statement with a large pinch of salt.

"Did you not watch it, he’s only talking to the press as jays mother asked him too. Clearly the information has been available to the police and family from the start."

Yes. But why not the press or wider public like all the other information that is available?

Maybe he didn't want to be harassed by reporters and internet sleuths?

@ReadyTeddy1000, The Manchester Evening News published this map of areas searched 4 days ago. The satellite map is from Casa Abuela Tina's listing at booking.com.

As you can see, the search area labelled La vica is where the house is.

Have you ever read news reports of a dog walker finding a body? They always say they thought it was just clothes. That shows you how insignificant a crumpled body looks in the open 😢 Jay wasn't even wearing much clothing, it was grey & white like the rocks, and the area's covered in deep scrub. It'd be hard to spot him from even a few metres away.

CatMumSlave · 28/06/2024 18:57

@ReadyTeddy1000 Yes I think so.

Thanks so much. That's interesting. I wonder how thorough they're able to search due to the scrub/rocks/cacti. Agh, it's all so horrible to think about

Yep that's the one from the club/rave. I don't know the ins and outs, but I just can't understand how that'd pick them up in the audio. So weird.

MeAgainAndAgain · 29/06/2024 17:00

I just read on the BBC website that they were asking for volunteers again and they got ‘less than12’. They were specifically looking for those with experience, so I guess climbers, mountain rescue, that kind of person.

Yes I kind of am.
It is obvious now that it is just a recovery of a body.
Though I can't understand why he would decide to walk over what is being reported as difficult terrain in the first place! Or go back to a house with two older men...for me, those are the real mysteries

Garlicker · 29/06/2024 19:29

@ellebelli, I think both your questions are easily answered by "party substances".

There’s been a statement from the police today reconfirming that they’d spoken to the men and there wasn’t anything further to pursue with that line of enquiry.

Sweetenuf · 29/06/2024 20:20

The police in Tenerife and UK couldn’t have been more clear that those two men have nothing to do with it. Why are people so obsessed with uncovering the mystery around those men when there is none!

Cipriano Martin, head of the Spanish Civil Guard's Mountain Rescue team in Tenerife, said:
'Those men have been spoken to and they don't have any relevance whatsoever for the case!

Uk police gave a similar statement.

Also I read in todays article his Dad was frustrated there weren’t many Brits out looking for Jay but then he says how he and his family/ Jays friends haven’t been going on most of the searches as it’s too dangerous which is understandable - but it’s a bit bonkers he expects strangers to all flock to conduct this risky search. They sound a bit entitled.

I still don’t get why considering the friends and family don’t have the expertise to do the search so many people are needed out there. Not to be morbid but they should save that money in case they need it for other expenses if they find Jay and he’s not alive.

Say for arguments sake they were taking drugs , or having sex- so? What does that prove in the context of his disappearance considering he’s been seen in person, on video call and on the phone AFTER leaving their house?

Why are you and others so desperate to bring these two men into it when police in Spain and UK have stated they are not relevant to the investigation. They will have all the details and may even have checked the men’s locations/movement using their phone.

And just to add - no one actually know the ages of the men but it keeps being repeated as 40 year olds on this thread.

I’ve seen some media descriptions say they are in their 30s-40s. It’s really not unheard for 19 year olds to party /take drugs /drink after the club on holiday with someone a decade older.

At 19 while my close friends were all 18-21, I definitely had some same sex acquaintances closer to 30 that I was friendly with, that I met from the clubbing scene and did attend a couple of after parties/gatherings with. Sometimes it was a full blown party but sometimes it was just a handful of us at someone’s house.

None of the above matters because as per above Spanish police and UK police have stated they are not relevant to the case.

Unless of course the internet sleuths think that they with their limited information know better than the police working on the case?

It’s so absurd and I’m just glad the police have confirmed very little about details pertaining to these two men.

I hope they manage to stay anonymous for as long as possible.

I do find it incredibly sad.
What sickens me is that every post on social media is full of people laughing and joking about it, insulting his family etc.
I can't imagine the trauma they're going through and at the same time it seems like everyone's laughing at them. It's heartbreaking.
I know he has a past but I can't help feeling a lot of it is classism.
I hope they get closure soon.

MeAgainAndAgain · 30/06/2024 12:20

It is sad they’ve stopped, but what else can they do? They can’t search forever. The police/fire/other professionals who were looking won’t have taken that decision lightly.

And it seems none of his friends or family were looking for him? The only people looking were complete strangers? Is that right? What are his friends and family doing out there? How many are there over there? Am I understanding that right?

Even Michael Moseley’s wife was out looking and she’s probably in her late 60s and in higher temperatures apparently.
