Anyone else think there might be something strange about the 19yr old disappearance in Tenerife?

I get that kids do foolish things, like travelling at night with 2 strangers.

But if he was seen at the new accommodation around 8am, and again walking briskly along the road some time “later”, how could he have needed to make a call at 8.30am saying he was lost, had no phone charge and needed water? He would have only just left the accommodation so definitely wouldn’t need water. And why not send your gps or what three words location then?

I think the British police should be talking to him and telling him to keep out if it! The Spanish police are dealing with it, the family don’t not know the names, what good would it do?

I saw that. 30 odd grand isn't a massive sum all things considered, especially if there's a whole gang of extended family there. Hopefully someone is advising them financially, because their costs could quickly spiral.

Bit of an elaborate way to fund a mass get together though isnt it.

It depends though. They're currently receiving accommodation and food etc for free. So it comes down to how long that'll be provided/needed.

My own personal feeling is that I wouldn't be using the funds to pay for others to come over, given that immediate family is already out there.

I honestly don't know why he'd threaten to post a photo of the men - esp since he has been vocal about being careful about what people should be posting on social media

Apparently his ex girlfriend and several of his friends are being flown out today. Surely though his family and friends have been advised/are aware not to venture into the terrain to look for him??? You'd hope they're not planning to, given how dangerous the terrain is - but why else would so many of them need to be there?

Jay Slater's Dad has said the police aren't communicating, there's a language barrier, so perhaps using some of the funds on a local interpreter would be of more benefit?

The possibility of them becoming a hindrance (one of them getting themselves lost or hurt in the terrain!) would be my biggest concern.

Obviously his Mum is hoping Jay can still be found/saved, a parent will always hope against the odds, and she's thinking it'll be nice for him to have his friends there.

If this was 20 years ago, those two men once found would've had their phones royally hacked and their bins rifled through- dodgy private investigators would be involved throughout.

hmm, so this is the full update below - when she says they're supporting the mountain rescue teams, I hope she means providing them with food and water etc - given that the actual rescue-effort costs will already be covered.

First, I would like to thank everyone for your support, kind messages, and good wishes. It’s difficult to wrap our heads around what is happening right now, but we are not losing hope that we will find Jay and return home together.

We are currently working with GoFundMe to withdraw part of the funds, which are being safely held. I wanted to share that these funds will be used to support the mountain rescue teams who are tirelessly searching for Jay. Additionally, since our stay in Tenerife needs to be extended, we will also use the funds to cover accommodation and food expenses. I'm surrounded by wonderful people who are by my side, but far from their loved ones, so we'll also be using part of these funds to fly them to Tenerife so we can support each other during these dark times.

So the people who flew over to support her, need people flown over to support them. Then those people will probably need people flying over to support them! It’s becoming an absolute piss take at this point.

Sure you would need support but people like an ex gf of his and her mate? The guy is 19! Wouldn’t have been a decades long relationship! What are they even doing there other than putting up a few posters? Which shouldn’t even be necessary given how much media coverage there is.

So are all these people just sitting in a room waiting for news? Unlikely. There is no good reason why any more people need to be flown over there.

The gofundme never promised anything so they can do whatever they want with the cash! Nobody was under duress to donate.

Well quite. But I guess those who did donate expected it to be used for the immediate family accom and/or the rescue effort, more drones, translator etc

Seems to be going up since she said she was withdrawing some. Plenty generous donors out there. Funny how it mentions food expenses, given people have to eat when they're at home and presumably that isn't funded.
