I'll go first.

You shouldn't have a dog or a baby (or anything else noisy) unless you live in a fully detached property.

If you’re that bothered by the noise then why don’t you live in a detached property then?

Nightmarenewbornnostalgia1 · 20/06/2024 20:25

You have given much weaker reasoning for why you wouldnt move to a detached property than what you have given for families to only live in detached properites. Maybe before you had a cat or set your retirement plans you should have considered these things as you expect those of us with dogs or children to

K0OLA1D · 20/06/2024 20:25

Well I lived in a flat!! Shock horror

InfamyInfamyTheyveAllGotItIn4Me · 20/06/2024 20:26

I think people should not smoke unless they are in detached houses. I don't mind baby noise at all. Dogs, yes - but you can hear them barking from several doors' down so unless you isolate them to isolated properties, that problem will persist.

NotADailyMailJournalist · 20/06/2024 20:26

@ApothecaryRose actually, it's entirely normal to be "depressed". It's called being realistic about life. We really ought not pathologise it. In a weird way, I've been much more content since I stop striving for the "happiness" that society told me I should have and just accepted this is life and started a longer term exit plan. I suppose I would probably be happier, ironically, if I was less intelligent/thought less!

Babies don't bother me. It's mopeds, loud music, and yes, endless barking that gets to me.

NotADailyMailJournalist · 20/06/2024 19:14

@Fizzadora thanks, I feel your pain.

Trouble is, there's no escaping it at night when I'm trying to sleep and downstairs' baby and dog set one another off. I mean dogs and babies just don't mix, aside from the noise element. Do these morons not read the news about what happens when babies and dogs are put together?!

I 100% understand why they use (high-pitched) noise and sleep deprivation as torture in war.

Maybe you should go and live in a detached house? I hear they are quiet.

incessantpunditry · 20/06/2024 20:28

I am inclined to think that people who own either a drum kit or a trumpet should live well out of earshot of susceptible neighbours.

Penfeatherington · 20/06/2024 20:29

My opinion is that keeping a cat if you live in a flat is bloody cruel.

You have assumed I do not have a garden, I presume. I do. She went outside every day until she got old and ill.

But I agree with you actually, I disapprove of housecats.

Unpopular opinion? That life is wonderful and children are amazing.

God it must be such a drain being so much more intelligent than everyone else.

It doesn't really matter if you have a garden or sufficient space for a cat - only people who live in detached houses should have cats.

flowergardentree · 20/06/2024 20:33

I have a dog and a baby in a terraced house.

Yes my dog barks and my baby cries.

Why should you be any more entitled to express views than my baby who can't communicate through speech yet so cries to let me know he needs something.

Strange human

Actually it is. It's very lonely. I don't have much in common with basic bitches.

I prefer ‘Accept that unless you chose to live in a detached house you are going to have to tolerate a certain amount of humanity’

if you can’t cope then either move to a Scottish bothy (some very reasonably priced options with zero risk of human noise pollution) or acquire yourself a well gardened detached home.

Now here is an interesting thesis and I am all ears. Why so?

You mention your supposed intelligence a lot. You believe your opinions are based only in fact and logic, rather than accepting nuance. You use language that is social media specific. It's all giving incel vibes. I would suggest you log off and touch grass.

They CAN have children but they SHOULD NOT.

Do you have children? Do you live in a detached house yourself?

Mammma91 · 20/06/2024 20:38

i laughed at the should only have children if they live in a detached home. I have 2 children, one is a baby. My neighbour recently told me it was his pleasure hearing my eldest laughing in the garden as his kids are grown up and have their own families and never to apologise for any noise. He’s wonderful. I’m grateful to have 2 very lovely neighbours on either side of me. You sound bitter.

Basic bitches? Isn’t that a term for woman that have children with multiple fathers?
