Climate change and the environment, I literally find them the most boring subjects in the world. I'm not a climate change denier, I'll do what I can but I'm just nor interested.

OP posts:

Cars 🥱

How much people paid for things, my in laws are all obsessed. It's so tedious.

Pets. I love animals but pet owners can be another level of boring.

TheaBrandt · 17/06/2024 14:56

We live in a rugby city and everyone we know seems to love it. Dh and I could not give a shit about it.

I am a car convert used to not be bothered but for first time in my life we have a nice car so I’m coming round to that.

Also - American politics, and the doings of Donald Trump. It's just a ridiculous circus in a different country. We only get blow-by-blow accounts because it happens in English so it's easy for our media to lift it.

Oh yes, this. I’m dreading Trump getting re-elected because my family will revert to endless rehashing of his latest exploits. I get it, he’s a twat, but there’s absolutely nothing anyone in the UK can do about it, and the self-congratulatory competitive horror about it bores me to death.

Well the majority of Scots have been stuck with an SNP govt i.e. tartan tories by another name government since 2007 that we didnt vote for so now you get to see what it feels like.

Edited

Well with a PR system in Holyrood rather than FPTP, we got nearer to what we voted for than with the Westminster system. So happy to disagree on this one

The debate about self ID/trans issues/womens only spaces. I just don't see it as a big deal. I know there are certain circumstances where it is, but it's been blown out of all proportion by all sides involved.

Oh yes this is me too. I'm too old and uninterested to even attempt slotting new genders into my life. In my mind there's simply men, women and Other. And if you fall into my Other camp then I really couldn't be less interested in your pro nouns.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 17/06/2024 15:57

@Purplecatshopaholic

Hardly. The result is exactly the same. The majority don't get the government they vote for.

Oh yes, women’s football 💯

Yes this too. When did women's football become a thing? It's just a much slower, clumsier version of men's football which is already tedious in the extreme. And what's with the female football pundits everywhere? I don't see male pundits commenting on the womens' games? I know I should support the sistahood and everything, but women playing football is so dull.

RefusingToPlayYourGames · 17/06/2024 15:59

The election
Any politics
The royal family

comoatoupeira · 17/06/2024 13:45

And dogs! Oh god.
and illnesses.

Oh yes! Even youngish people now regale all their illnesses.

RandomUsernameHere · 17/06/2024 16:12

Fashion
Wine
Food

angelcake20 · 17/06/2024 16:23

Celebrities - why is anyone interested?
Fashion
Reality TV - should be banned
Football
Dogs
F1
Taylor Swift

I am interested in politics and current affairs, though extremely frustrated with the current level of debate. Can take or leave gardening, cooking. Love travel, drinking and science!

TonTonMacoute · 17/06/2024 17:00

American politics
All women's sport

alloutofcareunits · 17/06/2024 17:13

Stately homes - love the gardens but inside is so boring
Anxiety, ADHD, Autism - you might as well assume everyone has all three as most people I encounter at work claim to have at least one as an excuse for being off/late/not finishing a task etc etc.

AnneElliott · 17/06/2024 17:14

Definitely sport - sky keeps trying to give me sky sports for free and is astonished when I say I'll never watch it so don't bother!

Running - have colleagues that do go on about it a lot.

BlowDryRat · 17/06/2024 18:28

Putin's never-ending spiel of threats. I'll be interested when he's dead. Until then, he sounds like a pathetic drunk gobbing off down the local pub. There's naff all I can do about it.

My colleagues' dogs. Someone recently had a month off work because her dog died. My internal eye roll nearly dislocated my brain.

Toomanysquishmallows · 17/06/2024 18:32

I say this as a cat owner, but I have no interest in other people’s pets .

TomPinch · 17/06/2024 18:52

Anything when it is 're-examined through a race-critical / non-heteronormative / non-patriarchal / intersectional / queer lens'.

Yes I feel I genuinely ought to be interested, but it's so worthy, dull, humourless, and I know it just means a hatchet job on the past history of whatever thing it's applied to.

This really made me laugh!

Toddlerteaplease · 18/06/2024 14:47

I'm so relieved to discover that I'm not the only one, who isn't really interested in the Ukraine or Gaza. I thought I was being heartless.

Nightblindness · 18/06/2024 15:01

I just had a bit of a scroll through this thread to see what others thought and realised, aside from history and illnesses - I bloody love history and can spend all day talking illnesses, whether I've had them or not - I pretty much agree with everything said.

Has anyone mentioned foreign travel? If not, that's my shameful contribution.

I love talking about travel, though I’m unlikely to be interested in your delayed train or your nightmare experience at the airport.

For us oldies who've "enjoyed" many different governments, you realise just how little anything changes. The people in the background who actually run the country (civil servants and financiers) will do what they want anyway. We don't have a true democracy at all. So much that happens is enforced upon us without us ever having voted for it. Likewise many things we DO vote for (i.e. in party manifestos) don't happen. There's a reason why the Tories and Labour were recently said to be "different cheeks of the same arse". People expecting any kind of major change after the GE need to prepare themselves for a shock - very little will change!

Umm, over a few years okay not much changes. Over a longer period of re-elections, such as the last fourteen years I have seen a hell of a lot of changes and none for the better.

This!! Life in the UK has gotten worse by pretty much every objective measure in the last decade
