Climate change and the environment, I literally find them the most boring subjects in the world. I'm not a climate change denier, I'll do what I can but I'm just nor interested.

The amount of posters thinking the government we have won't impact their lives in any way shape or form is astonishing. If you use the NHS, send your children to comprehensive schools, hope for a state pension or drive on our roads then unfortunately yes it will affect you.

DerekFaker · 17/06/2024 12:08

Most sport. In fact, I detest it. I'll watch the football Euros and Worlds and the Olympics, but that's it. The rest of it bores the life out of me. And no, it wouldn't make a difference if our country were doing well. I still wouldn't be interested.

DelphiniumBlue · 17/06/2024 12:12

Insurance issues, utilities issues, hmrc, minor medical issues plus medication.

For us oldies who've "enjoyed" many different governments, you realise just how little anything changes. The people in the background who actually run the country (civil servants and financiers) will do what they want anyway. We don't have a true democracy at all. So much that happens is enforced upon us without us ever having voted for it. Likewise many things we DO vote for (i.e. in party manifestos) don't happen. There's a reason why the Tories and Labour were recently said to be "different cheeks of the same arse". People expecting any kind of major change after the GE need to prepare themselves for a shock - very little will change!

Toddlerteaplease · 17/06/2024 12:26

War. Terrible, yes, but I really am not interested.
Climate change
Politics
Sport
Taylor swift.

My job - bettering myself at my job, challenging myself at my job.

Well I probably should be interested in climate change but I’m just not. A country the size of Scotland can make FA of a difference if the big ones don’t change their ways. I’m not giving up my car, or going by plane either.
Ditto the news, and to some extent politics too. I just feel the world has gone to shit just now and the news is just not good for my MH. I used to be very into politics, but it just all seems so fuckin pointless at the moment. Scotland will get a Westminster Labour government, ie bunch of Tories by another name, whether we vote for one or not.

Well the majority of Scots have been stuck with an SNP govt i.e. tartan tories by another name government since 2007 that we didnt vote for so now you get to see what it feels like.

Men who get threads deleted because they really care what others think of them

ActualCannibalShiaLeBeouf · 17/06/2024 12:55

Using 10 different types of skincare and talking about "tret" obsessively.
54 year old and wash, moisture when I remember, sleep in makeup often. Hardly any wrinkles and think my skin prefers a less is more approach

LoobyDoop2 · 17/06/2024 12:57

Definitely other people’s children.
The foibles of my male relatives, which could mostly be fixed in seconds if my mother stopped pandering to them rather than making it her life’s mission.
The minute details of why my husband’s colleagues are unreasonable idiots.

SirenDiMare · 17/06/2024 13:01

According to society I should probably be interested in these things - but I'm not:

Feminism
Saving the environment for the sake of the next generations
Pride, LGBTQ (or whatever it's called now), gay rights, and trans rights
The news
Politics
'The media'

TulipsAndForgetmenots · 17/06/2024 13:04

Foreign policy and overseas conflicts. There is absolutely nothing I can contribute to either the conversation, or the situations themselves, beyond a general preference for world peace. I just switch off.

Happy to hear about other people's children, however - send that my way!

TulipsAndForgetmenots · 17/06/2024 13:07

Also - American politics, and the doings of Donald Trump. It's just a ridiculous circus in a different country. We only get blow-by-blow accounts because it happens in English so it's easy for our media to lift it.

Rugby (I live in Twickenham the ‘home ‘ of rugby)

Hi neighbour!

Have you ever been to a match? I haven't and I've lived here decades. I go to Waitrose, see the loos out and think 'Bugger, big match today' and stay in the rest of the day.

As for the heading - most of the things on this thread.

Edited

Went once out of curiosity. Very boring

Beanieton · 17/06/2024 05:50

Oh wow! Your ignorance is unbelievable. It has everything to do with us. How the fuck do you think the state of Israel was created in the first place?

Honestly, I wonder why the world is in such a mess and then I read posts like this. Ignorance everywhere.

We're talking about things that we as ordinary people aren't interested in. The First World War was a fascinating turning point in history where all sorts of borders, empires and alliances were unravelling and being created anew. Fascinating academically, that is - but I'm sure the average Brit a hundred or more years ago was deeply uninvolved in how various world powers managed the situations of the day, including in that corner of the Middle East. This is why I can't be personally bothered with it now - it seems to me like foreign policy is about throwing stuff at the wall in a crisis and hoping something good sticks, meanwhile mopping up something that's kicking off elsewhere. These are live and complex situations that the ordinary person has virtually no influence over, and is very far removed from. If "the world is in such a mess" today it's got nothing to do with people on Mumsnet not taking personal responsibility for Israel and Palestine.

NotHeard · 17/06/2024 13:29

I quite like hearing about children but I cannot be doing with pets. I literally could not care less about someone's cat/dog. I've never seen a cute animal so don't bother with pictures.

Trans debate. Fortunately it's only on mumsnet that this actually comes up, no-one in real life has ever mentioned it to me. Let them use whatever toilets or play whatever games they want, I don't give a shit.

Sport. Any of it. I don't care who wins. I'm the least competitive person so even playing it is unbelievably boring.

Food; cooking (means to an end) and eating out at fancy places (as soon as you've finished eating it's gone, so may as well have just gone to McDonald's, the result would have been the same).

Space and dinosaurs.

I've got 3 sons and had to suffer the boring conversations about them. It just doesn't penetrate my brain.

They're all adults too!

Oh my God, yes - and it made me laugh out loud when I got to the big reveal that they are all adults!

I could have lived very happily without ever hearing a single fact about dinosaurs or space.

TulipsAndForgetmenots · 17/06/2024 13:34

Oh my God, pets. I just switch off. I have to consciously remind myself that pet owners really care about their pets, and not in the half-hearted way I did as a child (in the days before enormous vet fees). To me a pet is either passingly cute, or annoying/intimidating. I don't expect to be hearing about it like it's a child.

Waitingfordoggo · 17/06/2024 13:37

I’m a bit envious of the people who find climate change boring. Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather not think about it but don’t seem to have a choice as I’m so incredibly anxious about it.

comoatoupeira · 17/06/2024 13:44

Israel-Palestine :(

Middle Eastern politics
Most other people's kids

The Euros football championship. For my job, I can get access to every game, and it's hard coming up with excuses to turn them down. I just. Don't. Want. To.
