Anyone else loving the weather?

I'm so enjoying the cooler than normal weather. I can spend more time in the garden without getting hot and sweaty. Love sleeping in a cool bed. Can go for nice long walks. Less noise from neighbours. Win. Win.

It was cold here yesterday, grey and by the afternoon/evening raining and drizzling constantly with a horrible wind. It’s cloudy today, a bit of sun coming through but not really warm. And back to constant rain tomorrow. I’m so fed up

I know I don't like hot weather / heatwaves etc , but my other thoughts are why is is it like this? I can remember rainy Junes and Wimbledon messed up by it pre the big roof days ( when it was played more in June and not the end of June / early July ) in the 80s , but this now is unusual and not that warm ( and I'm in the south east where it is usually sunnier and drier)
The weather people said that May was warmer , but wetter.
Is it climate change and just how it'll be from now on?
Other countries will be too hot and we will be less warm / rainy? Maybe hotter in autumn?
There was a heatwave in 2019 and they said the summers will all be like this back then.
I am confused by it all to be honest.

RampantIvy · 14/06/2024 12:38

My washing is hanging up in the conservatory today (again).

CalicoPusscat · 14/06/2024 12:43

Rain rain rain rain rain 🌧

MyQuaintDog · 14/06/2024 13:03

It stopped raining 10 minutes ago here and there is a tiny bit of sunshine through the grey clouds.
Its the almost constant rain that is different.

Berlinlover · 14/06/2024 13:05

Yes, I can’t cope when it goes over 20c so I’m quite happy as long as it’s not raining.

MyQuaintDog · 14/06/2024 13:08

@Berlinlover but it is raining every day and for lots of the day.

So you don't actually like this weather then surely because it's always fucking raining!

It’s not always raining where I am here in the west of Ireland, at the moment it’s 14c and the sun is shining.

I'm jealous of both the temperature and the fact it's not raining! I'm not even going to pretend I'm not. It's 9 degrees here blowing a gale and absolutely pissing it down again!

RampantIvy · 14/06/2024 14:42

Anyone else getting adverts for St Tropez gradual tan?

MyQuaintDog · 14/06/2024 14:43

It has started raining here again.
So those who like this weather are not actually experiencing the kind of weather we are all complaining about? Rain, damp, windy and cold days.

Evidently not! Honestly I'm so bloody sick of getting soaked every bloody day. Maybe the fact they've not got wall to wall rainz gale force winds and constant grey skies goes some way to explaining why they're not all as grumpy as me!

My garden is sodden. I just want to go out without an array of layers, umbrella, jumper/jacket and maybe sit in the garden with a coffee
I'll take a long sleeved top at this point, not even a t shirt!

The cat is fuming

Sat on sofa under a blanket last night.

I empathise with that! I'm so bored of wearing the same boots, jumpers, full on winter coat and the other day I even put my gloves on during the early evening dog walk!

At most I should need a jacket tops at this point in the year. I was looking through some pictures the other day and it just look like I've been wearing the same clothes since last August and that's because I have.

I've been playing netball in a long sleeved thermal top and a t shirt
Was hoping by now we would be playing in the evenings in pleasant weather but it's been called off twice

ALongHardWinter · 14/06/2024 16:01

Yes! I'm dreading it getting really hot.

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 14/06/2024 16:01

I’ve got a cold, I’m running a bath and the heating is on

I wouldn't worry about it getting really hot it's not even got warm yet.

Crikeyalmighty · 14/06/2024 16:16

Just been to Majorca for a week 25 to 28 and sunny every day with a light breeze and only rain was on day going home where it hammered it down so much that the airport flooded and we had to stay an extra night in Palma-

I just felt so much better- no aching joints, you could make plans and I could wear sandals and sip aperol !!

It wasn't red hot- it was very warm and just right-

RampantIvy · 14/06/2024 16:53

It wasn't red hot- it was very warm and just right-

We had between 23 and 27 degrees in Kos - perfect.

We did manage 19 degrees and a bit of sunshine in Sheffield today, but now it is back to rain.

Tumbleweed101 · 14/06/2024 18:00

I don't mind it being a bit cooler but would like it to be sunny rather than grey and rainy.

Oh,give it another couple of weeks and I guarantee it will be in the upper 20s.

You guarantee? Is that a promise? Honestly I'd absolutely love to believe you but I'm getting pretty jaded. If we get even one day in the upper 20s in the next few weeks I'll be very surprised!
