Anyone else loving the weather?

I'm so enjoying the cooler than normal weather. I can spend more time in the garden without getting hot and sweaty. Love sleeping in a cool bed. Can go for nice long walks. Less noise from neighbours. Win. Win.

I know it's not good for the farmers, but I just prefer cooler weather and this is perfect ( for me)
I appreciate that some can't handle it, the same as I can't handle it too hot.

I also like cooler temperatures, but it's not just cooler it's wet, windy and we have constant miserable grey skies. Today it reached a high of 13°, which to put it into perspective is colder than last years Christmas Eve. ⛄

CalicoPusscat · 13/06/2024 19:24

No it's been raining all day

RampantIvy · 13/06/2024 19:33

12 degrees and pissing down Sad

How much time do the cold and wet weather lovers actually spend outdoors?

I'm beginning to think very little. No one's complaining that we're not in the midst of a heat wave but seriously it's almost mid June 13 degrees, gale force winds and constant rain is no ones preference surely?

I'm sure we can all agree that a nice dry 18-20 degrees would suit everyone?

RampantIvy · 13/06/2024 19:45

I have just learned that Saturday's fund raising event is the latest event to be cancelled this spring/summer Sad

Whyoohwhyohwhyyyy · 13/06/2024 19:49

No, I'm beyond fucked off with this weather. It's really getting me down

Lessstressedhemum · 13/06/2024 19:51

It's 11, real feel 5, here and tipping it down. We had frost warnings earlier in the week. In the middle of June!
It's not to get above 14 degrees for at least the next week, which means it won't feel much above 10 tops. And it's to keep raining. It's rained almost constantly for almost a year.

I am so, so fed up of it. We don't need a heatwave but just a wee bit of warmth and dry weather. Maybe 19/20, blue skies and sunshine without it blowing a Baltic hoolie. It's a total waste of the light nights.

I'd like to say I'm sure it will be the last one cancelled but it would be a lie. Its the same round here the grounds too wet or the forecast is for high winds etc so everything is being cancelled. I strongly suspect it's just one in a long line of events to come which will be cancelled. Sad

Maidentale · 13/06/2024 19:57

No. You're obviously not a farmer nor do you keep livestock, or horses. It started raining in the latter part of June 2023 and it's barely stopped since. One of the wettest Autumn /Winters in history.

You obviously also have lots and lots of cash too, for all that expensive UK grown and imported food you're going to have to fork out for due to the hideously shit weather we've had 11 months and counting....

The UK seriously needs some warmth and drier weather before we head into another autumn/winter. The ground in many places is just not recovering.

GasPanic · 13/06/2024 20:02

No it's shit. After a long cold dark wet winter we are getting a long cold dark wet summer. A lot of people struggle through the winter with expensive fuel bills and not being able to keep warm enough, so summer is welcome relief and something for a lot of people to look forward to.

My kitchen is 15C at the moment. We need some warmer sunnier weather.

Also the fruit crop last year was crap, and is likely to be crap again this year from looking at the tree.

Noosnom · 13/06/2024 20:05

yy Maiden . I'm just a back garden veg grower and nothing is growing.
We need early 20's° and some sunshine. The farmers must be in despair.

I also resent having to wear a neck buff when running in June.

dimsumfatsum · 13/06/2024 20:17

Meeeeeeeeeeeeee! This feels like the summers of my childhood when we actually had normal weather!!!

mydogisthebest · 13/06/2024 20:22

I don't like very hot weather as it gives me a migraine but there is a middle ground between heat wave and the crap weather we have now.

Sick sick sick sick sick of the cold and rain. I can't get washing dry. I am so fed up with wearing winter clothes. I hate winter clothes even in the winter. Hate jumpers, hate any tops with long sleeves, loathe wearing socks.

My heating has been on most days. I don't like having it on in June but I refuse to be cold in my home so it goes on

Since when is heavy and persistent rain, gusty winds and constant grey skies considered normal weather for summer? Confused

MyQuaintDog · 13/06/2024 21:06

Last June was very hot. This year June is wet, windy and cold. I have the heating on.

Nope. Dry, yes but 12-15 degrees is ideal for me!

I absolutely fucking hate it. I hate the grey, the rain, the fact I'm cold.

I can deal with grey and cold in winter but in June? Fuck. That. Shit.

I'm going on holiday on Sunday. If it is grey and rainy I will stand on top of a hill and scream.

I'm sat looking out at my garden at the moment. It looks like November. Really depressing.

And - first world problem here - I haven't had enough summery days to wear in my sandals for the holiday. So this shitty, grey, miserable weather will also result in blisters.

RefusingToPlayYourGames · 13/06/2024 21:19

Yes, I prefer this weather to the heat -

I feel comfortable and not sweaty
I can sleep much better
I'm able to go out in my garden without the row of lawnmowers, screaming kids or barking dogs
It's nice to not have hay fever, Asthma or sunburn.
No flies, wasps or ants anywhere

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 13/06/2024 21:19

Nothing to love about this Angry

Why 12-15 degrees specifically? With a bit of wind that would soon feel autumnal. What's wrong with temperatures in the high teens, 18-20 is warm not hot surely a good compromise all round?

Again no one's looking for a heat wave of 30° plus but 12-15 degrees in the summer is still jacket weather.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 13/06/2024 21:24

I actually wore a t-shirt today as I was going into the office and knew it would be warm. We then got sent to a different office with air con so I ended up sitting in my denim jacket all day 😡

When I got home, DS had put the heating on so I'm nice and warm with my winter socks and hood on.

Happy Bloody June.

Haveli · 13/06/2024 21:28

I don't mind it not being very warm but I so miss the sun - everything feels so grey and depressing I don't understand how anyone can love it! ☹️

Exactly. I love the feeling of cool air around me, can't stand heat.

Any farmers on here can weigh in on how the crops are faring without so much sun/warmth?
The rain and floods must have taken a toll.

spoke to a farmer last month - worst him and his dad (also a farmer) have ever seen and last year was bad.

It will affect our food supplies and rpices.
