What did you get for your birthday presents?

I genuinely can't remember and my soon to be 14 y.o asked me the question.

It blows my mind what 14 year olds ask for nowadays that just were not part of my world back then, I had no interest in make up, skin care, expensive trainers, tech etc.

I was 14 in 95. I probably got either Rollerblades or a High system from mum. Otherwise it was cds, books, the addidas trousers with the wipe stripes, chocolate, fancy stationary

Anais anais perfume

My big present around that age was a massive CD player tape deck. It had a CD changer in it and two tapes so you could record CD to tape or tape to tape. I also got some DM boots at 14 but that might have been Christmas. Or vice versa. My present wish lists always had a few CDs on (I would get one!) but I can't remember what else I would get given.

A Walkman!

I got a hot brush for curling my hair. The latest now album on cd which my dad also raped for me so I could listen to it on my walkman. A new camera that did those panoramic photos that cost loads to develop and you had to buy the really expensive albums from boots to put the photos in.

Levi’s 501 in various colours! And some weird fleece thing and a subscription to a teen mag.

Now tapes/CD's - we loved a compilation back then! One tape was always more rock and the other dance...

1991 for me and I definitely got a small tv for my bedroom around then.

Other than that I usually got books and bits from The Body Shop.

Probably CDs and something to (attempt) curling my hair.

It would have been clothes.

I remember being 14 in the mid 1990s and at Christmas getting some pearlescent Reebok stacked trainers. Best thing ever. I also got a step machine... because I was chubby 😂

Cassettes and a new Sony Walkman and books.
It makes me really sad that you can’t give music as a gift anymore. That’s all I ever wanted for Christmas and birthdays.

Yes! I had some black Levi 501s and the first time I wore them I fell over in my friend’s drive and got a hole in the knee which my Mum mended with dark blue denim which I had to colour in with a black felt tip!

I know I was 14 as it was the sleepover we watched Flatliners at which felt very daring as it was a 15!

I was 14 in 1988 and from memory I think I got some estee lauder perfume from my aunt who said that I was old enough to have proper perfume and the one thing you should never skimp on is good quality perfume- which is something I believe to this day and have passed onto my own DCs.

But otherwise it would have been horse stuff because I was horse mad.

I wanted a fancy diffuser hairdryer.

Which I didn't get and can't remember what I did get.

Oh yes- I also got a perm about that age. And my best friend's mother took a look at it and said I looked like a slut. My parents were furious.

£100 from my Dad because I'd walked in on him watching porn the night before so I think the £££ was to keep me quiet.
A CD from my mum and a cheap necklace or something I think.
