What would you rustle me up? Too late to go to the shops on Sunday so has to be what you already have in.

We're having fajitas, so I'd bung in more veg and sides. Online shop came this morning so I could do most things apart from a roast

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 09/06/2024 15:52

If you were a family member or friend who I really like and wanted to stay i could do you a roast with pork and potatoes and peas. Or a dinner fry. Or various pasta dishes from store cupboard items or a stir fry. And various batch cooked dinners in the freezer (bolognese, curry) or frozen chips and fish fingers!

CHEESEY13 · 09/06/2024 15:52

Cheese sandwiches and vanilla flavoured Keffir.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 09/06/2024 15:53

And when I say I mean my husband

Cadela · 09/06/2024 15:55

I’ve got some sea bass in the freezer, so fish, whatever green veg is lurking around the drawer and a quick pilaf.

I’ve got a Lidl’s hot chocolate fudge cake in the freezer but wouldn’t share that sorry 😂

Octavia64 · 09/06/2024 15:56

Mmmm burritos.

Nothing to add, just.... yummy,

You're in luck, I've been food shopping

You can have
Jacket potato with any toppings
Cottage pie
Marry me sausages with rice/pasta/veg/mash
Beige oven food
Posh pizza
Halloumi salad
Toasties
And I'm cooking lasagne if you can wait an hour

What are marry me sausages?

ghostbusters · 09/06/2024 15:58

We're pretty well stocked for a Sunday and I've already been to the shop for milk. There's lots of wine too.

Leftover takeaway curry tonight, but there's no extras for unexpected guests.
I could rustle up mushroom risotto or harissa butter bean soup.

NC10125 · 09/06/2024 15:58

I’ve got some homemade curries in the freezer which is serve with rice and naan. Probably make a raita.

But I’d have to send you to the garage for some beers….

buffyslayer · 09/06/2024 16:39

@Funkyslippers these (brown the sausages really well)
The sauce made me do a happy dance when I first tasted it Blush

GalileoHumpkins · 09/06/2024 16:39

Short shrift.

LlynTegid · 09/06/2024 16:41

My main meal on a Sunday and any day I wfh is at lunchtime. You'd get a sandwich and I've got plenty of fruit to choose from.

Ombadcat · 09/06/2024 16:46

I’m cooking roast chicken at the moment so could make that stretch to feed an extra. I’d ply you with wine first in the hope you wouldn’t notice if the portions were a bit measly. Ice cream or more wine for pudding.

DS has got into a really bad habit of asking if his girlfriend/friend can have dinner when it’s already 90% cooked so I’m getting quite good at making things stretch to feed an extra mouth.

Ohfuckrucksack · 09/06/2024 16:48

@CorporaINobbyNobbs So how would you ascertain who was at the door before making that decision?

Would it be a peer from behind the upstairs curtains or would you crawl along the hall corridor to listen behind the door?

or other.... maybe checking the ring camera footage first?

AmelieTaylor · 09/06/2024 16:53

viccat · 09/06/2024 15:07

Pitta bread and hummus as a starter, and then pasta with smoked aubergine pesto.

@viccat

What time should I arrive?

shall I bring wine? Dessert? Cheese?

fiddlesticksandotherwords · 09/06/2024 15:37

Ah yes, the UFOs (Unidentified Frozen Objects).

I had a whole thread about this once. I found something mysterious labelled 'CEDRIC GROSS' in the freezer, and had no idea what it was. I even fed it to DH and we were still none the wiser.😂

@fiddlesticksandotherwords

i remember your thread!!

fridaynight1 · 09/06/2024 16:56

You'd get a roast. Everyone else will get one less roast potato and because I'm nice I'd give you my Yorkshire pudding.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/06/2024 17:02

Half my chicken casserole from last night (cold). Soup from the freezer (take your pick - cauliflower, mushroom, celeriac), or what's left of the pepper and tomato soup I made the other day. If you don't fancy that, sardines on toast.

LuckysDadsHat · 09/06/2024 17:03

Chickpea curry with wholegrain rice.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 09/06/2024 17:04

Well anyone who knows me well knows I might not answer the door so they’d be persistent and maybe call to say they are outside! Or else as you say ring doorbell!

DelphiniumBlue · 09/06/2024 17:05

Spag bol. Or some sort of salmon pasta or veggie pasta if you don't eat meat.

DaffydownClock · 09/06/2024 17:08

We ate at lunchtime but there’s enough food for you too - chicken escalope, broad beans, peas and runner beans with new potatoes. Vienetta for pud?

Gingernaut · 09/06/2024 17:09

Some microwave pesto pasta pouches fro Aldi with Peperami slices, one protein thin bagel, crunchy peanut butter and I've got a bag or mild salad in the fridge

For dessert, your choice of mango protein yoghurt or a double chocolate protein pudding

Washed down with sparkling Sainsbury's Apple & Elderflower flavoured water or copious amounts of Pepsi Max

FiveTreeHill · 09/06/2024 17:10

You can have a hummus pitta bread, a cheese pitta bread or a tuna pitta bread. Or any of the above options on a jacket potato

I think I've got some pasta so can probably manage a macaroni/spaghetti cheese or a
plain carbonara

buffyslayer · 09/06/2024 17:11

Right the lasagne is done so you can have that
