UK has had severe heatwaves in recent years and everyone knows to stay inside as much as you possibly can. Don't think we need telling that stuff.

People do need reminding about not going out in severe heat.

What's the main way prevent it when out for the day in the sun

I saw on the previous thread that someone had posted this on his wife’s Instagram a couple of days ago. I wonder if it was MM who they saw all along? So terribly sad.

gosh someone posted it on his wife's instagram, seems a bit intrusive. i doubt she would have been looking

ducktapez · 09/06/2024 11:56

Quite a few of us on thread 3 yesterday were paying attention to the media reports on the routes he could have walked, and one possibility was indeed the path from Pedi to Agia Marina, where he has been found. However... can any of you figure out how on earth he ended up at his exact final resting place?

The path from Pedi takes you into the south side of the Agia marina, where it leads to the cafe, bars and beach area. There's a google earth 360 photo on there which shows where the path from Pedi enters. But his body was found on the northern side, part way up the boundary fence. It's a most unusual place to be. Was he heading up or heading down the hill? There's no path there so the terrain must have been very difficult to traverse.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 09/06/2024 11:59

He would have needed urgent medical attention, not a drink and dip in the sea. Ta Nea's headline says it is tragic and I couldn't agree more.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 09/06/2024 12:01

@ducktapez - jfc, what do you hope to achieve by this tasteless invitation to speculate?

I feel so sorry for his family, his wife, his four kids, and indeed his friends who he was staying with. For a holiday that should be a joyous event. To turn to such utter tragedy so quickly is so very sad. And of course rhe complexity of passing in a foreign country and the red tape associated with repatriating him and his family taking that final journey with him,

hopefully it was a very sudden fatal heart attack and he had no idea what was happening, quick and painless.

Are we talking 2/ 3 miles of walking?
No idea haven't looked at map.

May you RIEP Michael Mosley and my sincere condolences to your family at this awful time. I hope they can take comfort in the fact he seemed to have lead a life well lived until now.
Dr Mosley left a lasting legacy and certainly changed my thoughts on diet and helped me lose weight for which I am very grateful.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 09/06/2024 12:05

He's been there before so it's harsh to blame the friends. We have no idea whether he was intentionally walking to the resort where he was found.

Fulshaw · 09/06/2024 12:05

I do think that, broadly speaking, we have a too relaxed attitude to hot weather. British people are so obsessed with the sun, getting a tan and so on and they don’t understand or don’t care about the dangers.

The phrase ‘Only mad dogs and Englishman go out in the midday sun’ was coined in 1770. We’ve learnt nothing over the centuries.

I’m speaking in general, not about Dr Mosley specifically.

Aquarius1234 · 09/06/2024 12:07

Just listening to a interview of his about g
How to improve sleep.
I didn't actually know what his voice sounded like. Just knew of him.

I can only assume he lost the path, whether the costal one or perhaps a different one that he tried to take over the hill from Pedi

For fuck's sake.
You couldn't resist a dig at his grieving family and friends mere hours after his body has been found.
Why post that? Is there no moment of consideration between having the thought and writing on a forum?

uncomfortablydumb53 · 09/06/2024 12:09

RIP Dr Mosley
You changed many lives, and left a lasting legacy.

gymgoals2024 · 09/06/2024 12:12

I don't want to speculate on cause of death but just came here to pay my respects. So sad this is the outcome. My heart goes out to his family, colleagues, friends. Just terrible.

Disturbia81 · 09/06/2024 12:13

@Snowdrop80 Someone mentioned it on here about a woman spotting some blue on the rocks from her boat a few days ago, don't know if she had actually spotted him.

What kind of person feels it's appropriate to post this kind of thing on the Internet when friends and family will be grieving?

Some thoughts are really best kept to yourself.

There has been quite a few of these, the same posters doing it. And then attacking when pulled up on it.

No idea haven't looked at map.

Many media pages posted maps and they're still live however looking on google maps is the clearest for anyone interested.

It seems inexplicable how he came to rest on the "wrong" side of the little beach bar area. It's off any beaten path. Did he approach from behind or in front. I imagine CCTV from the beach bar will be being rigorously checked.

It doesn't "irritate" me.
It makes me so sad that people fail to recognise a total lack of humanity. Or worse, don't care that their posts lack humanity.
