Let's hope the CCTV / sighting in town gives a glimmer of home that he made the walk from the beach to town ok.

It is possible he’s still alive but sounds like they need more searchers.

If it’s true that his friends’ villa is in Gialos, then there are some treacherous routes on the way from Pedi/Symi. Alltrails posters reviews talk about treacherous rocks, deep gorges and an isolated beach, which is the best beach on Symi. Perhaps a draw for MM.

I guess maybe the local authorities just don't have the resources.

I wonder will the UK send over any search and rescue teams?

Or they could pay the local authorities to do more

There's a large media focus on this small area, that appears to attract a lot of tourism.

They're not just going to shrug their shoulders after five days and say 'Oh well'.

If you look at Googlemaps there are multiple routes going from Pedi to Symi. Many involve rugged but possibly scenic terrain so might explain why he chose it.

He was wearing an Apple Watch so would have had access to Google Maps if he had roaming or data. Considering his level of fame and work schedule, it’s almost certain that he had some sort of data plan for his holidays.

He may have been very unlucky and encountered someone in a rural location and was robbed of the watch (visible to anyone passing by). That meant zero possibility to navigate or contact people afterwards.

I fear the worse, sadly.

So what if it's a tiny island? Woman by me went missing and after weeks was found yards from her home address. Happens all the time

@Rubbishconfession what are those photos of? Both are labelled Aghios Vasilis (St Basil) which is right over the other side of the island.

I wonder if things might become confused on some searches because “gialos” just means “coast” in Greek. So Symi island has lots of “gialos”. But in Symi Town, “Gialos” is used to denote the part of the town down by the water (the port) in contrast to the village (“Chorio”) part on the hillside.

What is a blind item

A lot of stuff is being stated as fact now with little evidence. Do we know he had an Apple Watch for sure? Surely then they would have used Find My on his phone and found his last location.

They had a sniffer dog at work all of today ... does anyone know if there is any news of what they did (or didn't) find?? I had/have high hopes of them - especially as it sounds as if we now know where he left Pedi from....

If it was an Apple Watch that he was wearing then the “find my” app on his phone could be used to trace his location on the watch. That’s if it even is an Apple Watch, might just look similar.

I’m compulsively checking for news of MM every few minutes. Such a lovely man. I am praying for a good outcome.

Don’t know if this has already been posted but this guy shows a two minute video of the type of terrain of the ‘difficult’ mountain path from Pedi to Ano Symi and how hard the path is to find and follow (I don’t think he is doing the exact same route but uses a lot of the path that you would take if walking from Pedi to Ano Symi, especially the initial part walking up from Pedi):

This is really sad. It feels like he couldn’t get the bus so decided he’d try to walk using the mountain path which isn’t easy to follow. Sounds likely he’s got lost, had an accident or medical incident. Really sad. Three days in such awful heat feels like there won’t be a happy conclusion.

Yes ... this is what I don't understand.

As soon as it was clear how limited the island resources were and how hot it is, why didn't the Mosleys employ their own Greek-speaking investigation team to work alongside the police? They have both the resources and the contacts...

Or perhaps they have and we just don't know.... I so hope so....

It feels impossibly cruel to only know now, at the end of the second day of searching, and the beginning of his third night, that he took an unusual and scarcely used track out of Pedi.... and that that knowledge was sitting there all along, just waiting for someone to ask the right questions and examine the evidence...

... that discovering this earlier could literally be the difference between life and death....

As a big Michael Mosley fan, like so many of you on here, I am hoping hoping hoping that there is a good outcome....

So that rules out him getting lost then.

Because if he got lost, he could just text off his apple watch

I don't think you can tell from the CCTV that he's wearing an Apple Watch and I think it's really really unlikely as it would have shown his last location and they wouldn't have spent two days looking in the wrong place.
