Please leave your possessions at the door, we live a simple life here, no currency, self sustaining, communal meals and electricity from 7pm to 9pm only.

Now to the first matter.

What job you want?

I feel we should invite JK Rowling, I'm sure she'd love it here.

PotOfTulips · 14/06/2024 05:39

Ooh ooh can I join?
I will be your resident Story Teller /Skald. As we sit around the fire in the great hall, wearing our gloves of guinea pig hair, I will tell you stories on the lines of Beowulf, the Odyssey, Pride and Prejudice, and Gone with the Wind. All stories will be adapted to reflect the benefits of communal life,

BouleDeSuif · 14/06/2024 09:23

@PotOfTulips could you do anything with Night of the Living Dead? If so then yes you're in as far as I'm concerned.

PotOfTulips · 14/06/2024 11:19

@BouleDeSuif yes definitely! Plus clearly from your user name, a few Maupassant stories can be thrown into the mix.....

BouleDeSuif · 14/06/2024 11:51

Excellent @PotOfTulips and also yes!

Can we have alpaca? They’re excellent guards, and their fleece can be turned into yarn for the crafters. I’m happy to wrangle the herd and do some knitting.

WmFnKdSg1234 · 14/06/2024 12:35

I have thought of my skill, at last: I will fetch all the medical prescriptions.😎

Also I will help with the care needs for our aging women community: I will give them company, help and support. I want all the community to know that as they age there's still a place for them amongst us.

This is great because I am working on recruiting several wealthy elderly widows in their late 90s.

By the way, the founder seems to have disappeared (gone off recruiting, perhaps?) so I am claiming position as de facto leader until she returns.

Can I join? Another finance bod so nothing useful.
However I naturally wake up very early and am annoyingly cheerful first thing so I can he a greeeter/ do morning chores/ be a human alarm clock?

Fantastic. You are now christened the Human Cockerell. Although I wouldn't want to assume you identify as human?

Yes, great.

I will use one as a vessel for Morgan Freeman's spirit so we can channel his sage and comforting advice for spiritual development.

Excellent. I can spin the alpaca fleece to make the knickers. And other stuff. I'm not sure I'd be very good at shearing an alpaca though... Are there any commune members who are big and strong, handy with shearing equipment and unbothered by being kicked or spat at by large animals? <hopeful>

Outwardly I'm a human, inside I'm a cat.
Happy to be a human cockrel, I'll also be the first to bed but I'm not sure that's helpful.

I regret to inform you that I will no longer be able to join the communal lifestyle. I was hoping for an ocean view with small individual cottages and people to bring us wine and cheese and do our laundry. In fact I think I was confusing it with a spa. Also, it’s getting a bit quirky for me.

I’ll think of you all fondly.

ScottBakula · 14/06/2024 20:46

Aww @AliceOlive , please stick around , I am sure someone will be along soon that can give good massages and I have suggested a island so there is bound to be a ocean view.

Hello, can I be considered? I can bring my experience of actually previously having lived on a commune!

Other than that, I can cook, make bread, wine and peg loom rugs, grow vegetables, collect and chop wood, have basic carpentry skills (adding my voice to the demand for power tools please!), and think building a compost toilet would be a nice thing to do.

I could even paint you some pretty signs (my actual job).

Unskill: I have no tact, and have been known to upset hippy types with my unvarnished opinions on antivaxxers and general woo.

Geneticsbunny · 14/06/2024 20:49

Brilliant!

Only £684,306.50 to raise then.

Any ideas?

You're in. Just don't upset the generous benefactors that we are yet to locate.

As long as you don't denigrate my very important spiritual work, you're welcome to voice your opinions. I'll not hear anything about the alpaca.

MysweetAudrina · 17/06/2024 03:47

I just completed some reiki training this week so happy to manipulate peoples energy for collective gain. I'm also working in the area of energy renewables so can get some good grants on solar and microgen. I'm an accountant and practice yoga daily and have crystals.

We can knit bees and sell them at Christmas bazaars to raise the money. I reckon it will only take a couple of years
