Please leave your possessions at the door, we live a simple life here, no currency, self sustaining, communal meals and electricity from 7pm to 9pm only.

Now to the first matter.

What job you want?

Baking yes

OK great. I can only bake brownies and banana bread. Are we part of an international commune network that we can swap exotic ingredients with?

Unfortunately we have been ostracised from the international network, something about blindfolds giving communes a bad name 🤷‍♀️

I can work with guinea pigs!

I'm also really good at baking patisserie - would that be useful??

FutureFeelsBleak · 31/05/2024 14:09

I have no practical skills of note. Any chance of a managerial position opening up?

Is it possible to make yarn from guinea pig hair/fur? 🤔

Surely we can? Does that seem exploitative and diminish the guinea pig equality USP? We could do it in a basement and lie to outsiders about the origins of our hairy clothes?

Guinea pigs utilising a naturally available resource to raise funds for their emancipation. It's perfect!

Geneticsbunny · 31/05/2024 14:14

This it literally my dream life and frankly I am fed up either my current state of affairs. I am in. I like sewing (am I allowed a sewing machine?) so can make clothes and patchwork blankets and clothes for the guinea pigs and I also do a bit of beekeeping on the side, although I am now allergic to bees so it might have to be a supervisory role...
I am also reasonable good at DIY.

Could you distract people with management babble when they ask about our hairy clothes?

Could you tailor your teaching to a guinea pig audience? We're trying to make a real societal difference, and also carve out an attractive USP to attract new recruits. I think guinea pig equality might be the way forward.

I've been assuming I could bring my cats....

Can GP's be taught?

I'd be good at scaring away small children.

rainydaysaway · 31/05/2024 14:18

I am very good at listening to people talk about their problems - can I be Wise Old Crone? I’m happy to live in a bit some way from the main settlement and mutter to myself a lot.

I could also brush up on my junior school flute playing skills if we are want in house entertainment.

weegiemum · 31/05/2024 14:19

As I'm old and disabled I think I could be the Wise Woman who lives a little way from the rest of the camp and survives on offerings brought by role needing my sage advice!

weegiemum · 31/05/2024 14:20

@rainydaysaway great minds!

Electric is on between 7pm and 9pm, you could focus on GP garments 7-8, and sacks for illicit GP yarn 8-9. Or the reverse , I don't want to micro manage.

Maybe you could write down your bee keeping knowledge during the rest of the day

Actually scrap security - I'd be soil and worm monitor. Need those worms for the veggies

GauntJudy · 31/05/2024 14:24

@rainydaysaway and @weegiemum could one of you be a good wise woman and the other an evil wise woman?

I need my big stick back please @Dexterrolledoffthesofa

If they are Peruvian Guinea pigs they will expect to be eaten

Excellent. I'll bring my cats.

Lurkingandlearning · 31/05/2024 14:30

Could I be the cyclist who powers the electricity (or is that fictitious) it would help me lose weight and then need less wool for my knitted clothes

BouleDeSuif · 31/05/2024 14:31

I've got a hand sewing machine, and I can knit and crochet, I'm willing to knit us all jumpers and gloves and socks whilst the brewery is quiet.

Bluevelvetsofa · 31/05/2024 14:32

I can teach English and maths to the children. I can teach them knitting and crocheting too. I’m very good at the teacher ‘look’ so I will make sure they do their chores too. Unless they’re taller than me.

GauntJudy · 31/05/2024 12:31

OK @anunlikelyseahorse anything with udders is your area.

Surely we'll be tidy @Unicorn34 , all our possessions were cast down "The Well of Rebirth" when we were sworn in. We've not amassed enough random shit to create a mess, just need to keep on top of the numerous whittled spoons and knitted blindfolds. What function will the guinea pigs serve please? We can't have frivolous creatures all over the place.

The Guinea pigs will keep the grass short while their poop will fertilise it. They are also very cute and make people smile.
I am very very happy that there will be no worthless tat sitting around. I'd like to be accepted in please.

Begby6789 · 31/05/2024 14:43

I could extract tin, copper and possibly iron if there were the right rocks around.

Littlebitofsomething · 31/05/2024 14:46

I want to be the one in a comfortable chair who reads, shares wisdom and resolves disputes.

Littlebitofsomething · 31/05/2024 14:47

Next to the fire as it sounds cold there.

StandingMyGround888 · 31/05/2024 14:51

I'm the spiritual advisor. Because speaking directly to the Gods and spirits of nature is thoroughly exhausting I lounge in bed or on a sunlounger all day and am exempt from all manual tasks which are below me. I will protect you all from the outsiders and warn you of their impending attacks. I will also mediate any internal disagreements by finding out what Hestia or Athena think, for example.
I expect nice puddings.
