I know I know we have moaned about this before but can I have another moan and please can any "cosy hot chocolate" people stay away ! Just so tired of it. Had 1 nice day this week - last Saturday was sunny and a little bit warm and omg I felt so happy. It's really really getting me down. Every day since has been grey and wet. It's lashing rain again now after a very grey start. I know we have to put up with this for at least 6-8 months of the year but please it's nearly june. Am so fed up. Anyone else like to have a rant

Im not defensive about it i had an opinion like anyone else.
But it seems you and others just wont except that.

Because your opinion that endless months of rain and bad weather is lovely brings with it serious implications as I’ve already explained.

Like you won't accept the opinion of those that are fed up with the rain you mean...?

Yes, you do seem like someone who would.

To be fair the OP wasn't looking for differing opinions she was pretty clear she just wanted solidarity.

This isn't a AIBU to dislike the wet weather thread. It's just a discussion and a space to moan about disliking how much rain we've had.

This.

The OP even said so in her first post.

Christ, it's like some petulant child having the last word.

I woke up this morning and BBC weather said dry from tomorrow until next Saturday.
By lunchtime it's changed to rain on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
South East England.

thinkingfood · 31/05/2024 14:47

I dont mind the rain in fact it helps me.
Stops the neighbours kids screaming all day outside.

SirChenjins · 31/05/2024 14:47

wendycupcakes · 31/05/2024 14:44

okay.

Indeed.

Mozzarellaballs · 31/05/2024 14:47

@wendycupcakes nobody is picking on you, you chose to get the backs up of people not liking this weather by saying you like it, when the OP said please don't come with your winter loving. How can you say the weather doesn't make people miserable. What about the SAD condition. I for one feel utterly gloomy looking at the weather and I'm not choosing to be miserable, it's just what my brain feels like, I would love for it to not affect me. Yeah that's all cute searching for worms when you have a 2 year old, try telling a 13 and 10 year old that we are going to look for worms and then come home and be covered in mud, it is mind numbingly boring looking for a worm what am I supposed to do once I see one? Wow do you know what I might never go on holiday again to a hot country when there's so many worms to find over here and painting a pine cone will not raise my vitamin D levels or the seratonin in my brain.

There as been a few on here that have said the same thing they like.

thinkingfood · 31/05/2024 14:55

@Mozzarellaballs
To be fair there has been a pile on for @wendycupcakes just saying she loves the rain in her fist comment and it just been pile on from there when others have said the same thing including myself.

Snerl · 31/05/2024 15:00

I consider myself firmly in the "no bad weather; only bad clothing camp". We do that 1000 hours outside challenge every year and usually get at least close to 1000 hours, if not more, because we force ourselves out rain or shine. We have so much rain gear and every year we spend many, many hours outside in the rain and genuinely manage to have a good time.

But even I have had it up to here with the fucking rain and the wind this year. I've literally just unpacked the DCs winter coats from storage for the third time since April because it's so cold in the wind. It feels relentless. I am so tired of being wet and my eyes streaming from the wind, and looking at a grey sky.

Also, it is a massive privilege to be able to afford decent rain gear that keeps you properly dry for more than a 5 minute sprint to the car. We buy ours second hand and I'm grateful that we can afford that because it's still really expensive, especially for DC that insist on growing! 😅😭 It's not just a question of "mind over matter" or "having a positive outlook" or finding "fun things to do like looking for worms" ffs. Nobody, but nobody enjoys worm hunting or puddle jumping when it's 9°C and they're drenched because their £10 showerproof "raincoat" from Primark is letting most of the rain through.

Sux2buthen · 31/05/2024 15:10

I'm with you @wendycupcakes
As for the argument that farms etc are suffering that's not the fault of anyone that likes this weather so it's a daft argument. Not everyone wants to wallow in misery because of the weather and that's a good thing!
I've got a full time job, 3 kids to entertain and no car but we make the best of it

SirChenjins · 31/05/2024 15:12

I have read the whole thread but i dont get why the pile on @wendycupcakes first comment all she said was she loved the rain then bam pile on.
But yet there are plenty of others that have said the same.🤔

Probably because the point of the thread was pretty clear but evidently people chose to ignore it and some posters got a bit fed up of all the yay rain is great posts.

Added to that, that specific poster continued to post, failing entirely to read the tone of the thread.

Honestly I don't think the poor OPs request was so blooming unreasonable and she was very clear so I don't see why anyone posted saying how much they love torrential rain and gale force winds. It seems beyond rude and impolite to pile onto someone's thread and basically tell them they're wrong. Why not start your own thread if you want to discuss your love of all things wet and windy?

Yes but there are others on here that have said the same thing yet none got piled on for it.
It wrong and not kind.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 31/05/2024 15:24

It's not the weather per se that's getting me down, it's the fact that every day that passes when it's grey and cold and miserable is one less day of summer to look forward to. Up here in North Yorkshire, winter days are light from 8.30-3.30, so in summer it's nice to be able to go out in the evenings, sit in the garden, meet up with friends or walk the dog over the fields late into the night, when it doesn't get dark until after 11. But I can't enjoy those long light evenings because it's too bloody cold to sit outside, and I'm walking the dog with two coats on, stomping through the wind and rain.

I want my long evenings, to feel as though there's some day left when I get in from work, to garden or to be able to visit people and sit out in their gardens, rather than to be stuck inside for yet MORE months of the year.

Well it's also wrong and not kind to post on a thread where it's very clear what kind of discussion the OP is starting. I mean she couldn't have been more clear. Don't you think?

sparkelsinthenight · 31/05/2024 15:26

I like the rain to much sun and hot weather brings on my migraines i cant cope with it.
I get that others love the sun but my head dont.
