I know I know we have moaned about this before but can I have another moan and please can any "cosy hot chocolate" people stay away ! Just so tired of it. Had 1 nice day this week - last Saturday was sunny and a little bit warm and omg I felt so happy. It's really really getting me down. Every day since has been grey and wet. It's lashing rain again now after a very grey start. I know we have to put up with this for at least 6-8 months of the year but please it's nearly june. Am so fed up. Anyone else like to have a rant

I’m sick of it. This time of year should be parks and beaches and picnics. Instead I’m trying to avoid soft plays but really, what else is there to do indoors with toddlers other than going to other people’s houses. I want to be outside! I am a sunshine person. I need it to thrive.

Moier · 30/05/2024 19:31

Well it was hot and sunny yesterday.. and the weather picks up at the weekend .
I just got back from a very hot Cyprus .
Think I'm going to book another holiday for after half term when it's got quiet.
Can't decide on Portugal or. Corfu or back to Cyprus.
Wanting to go to North Wales and Northumberland too.. but that will be a quick book and go too ..when l know the weather is going to be fabulous.
I hate the bloody rain..
I hate snow.
I hate cold weather .
My body Hates it too.
Last week was wonderful for my painful body.. laying in the sun.

QuickFetchTheCoffee · 30/05/2024 19:35

I usually try to be in the cosy-hot- chocolate camp but I've got to the point where that just doesn't work any more! It's too warm for hygge but too cold for spring/summer activities.
Plus we had hailstones the size of ice cubes the other day and torrential rain that overflowed the gutters and came in through the walls! Hot chocolate can only carry me through so much - even if it has liqueur in it.
I've had enough - the rain can fuck right off 🌧⛈️🌧🖕

2023 was the eighth warmest summer on record. Eight. Out of about 140.

It was wetter than average but certainly not "a year without a summer".

Given you're posting this on a thread where we're collectively moaning about the rain... the temperature doesn't really matter. Especially as the "feels like" temperature in damp and wet conditions is always a few degrees cooler than a thermometer might record; it's what evaporation does.

The weekend here is looking a bit dryer, but completely overcast and back to rain on Monday.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 30/05/2024 19:37

It's eleven degrees here now (North Yorkshire), the wind is so strong that the windows are singing, and it keeps blowing through these stupid showers that are mizzly rain.

It's been warm(ish) but wet for the past year, except for one week in May, and a September and October heatwave. Saying it was a warm year last year doesn't help when it's too pissy wet to go out and enjoy any warmth. All my roses are flowering and I can't get out there to sit and enjoy them!

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 30/05/2024 19:39

We are due to go out in the camper van tomorrow til Sunday and I'm obsessed about checking the weather, The met office and BBC have opposite reports and it's never felt so unreliable. Im sure they don't want to give us false hope of sun so they just forecast rain even on the day we are due a patch of blue sky.

Snackpocket · 30/05/2024 19:41

It’s shit. It’s my birthday today and I’ve had a nice day but I wanted to be outside doing stuff not sat indoors because it keeps chucking it down! You can’t plan anything outside because you just don’t know what the weather will do.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 30/05/2024 19:49

So so sick of it. I have to confess today's weather is my fault as I took delivery of new garden seat cushions today. My abject apologies.

By way of punishment, I'm going to Ireland a week on Saturday and it looks like wall to wall rain for the duration.

I could fucking weep.

Sallycinnamum · 30/05/2024 19:49

I posted on another thread about the truly horrendous weather we've just experienced in Paris.

Been looking forward to this break with the teenagers for ages. It has been raining heavily for three days without a single break in the weather. We're all completely soaked through and it has made the break just that bit harder.

All the locals we talked to said it's been like this for weeks!

On the way home now after a 2hr delay on the eurostar to presumably more rain!

LooneyLiberalSpaceWaster · 30/05/2024 19:58

It seems like its been raining since October. I'm in the South East. Damp and humidity doesn't agree with me, it dries out my skin, I feel tired, I ache, my allergies are worse, and worst of all my hair looks and feels like wire wool. The weather is broken. On a bad day I'm convinced this is it, it will be tepid and raining forever more.

AllThePotatoesAreSinging · 30/05/2024 19:58

The 18 months up until the end of March were the wettest since records began in 1836.

And it’s still raining.

Omg thank you for that. Sometimes talking to people they just keep saying it's British weather and you can't rely on it. But I've never known it go on so long

@Flickersy nobody is talking about the heat. Its the wet. I camp very regularly. 2022 was a great year for camping. Exceptional weather generally. Last May was great. I toured Scotland and it was glorious. But then it changed and I'm not sure it's stopped raining much since. Every single camp last June onwards has been a wash (and wind) out. Absolutely awful. As a dog walker I can categorically say it has been the wettest winter I can remember in my area. Several separate occasions this winter the rain has been so bad her school has had to close due to flooding on access roads. The last closure due to heavy ran was last month! This isn't due to flash flooding but high water table due to prolonged heavy rain with even heavier and sustained periods. Its really very grim and a nightmare for farmers.

I quite like rain and it’s getting me down. My little girl was born at the start of July last year, it started raining the day I came out of hospital and it feels like it’s not stopped! It’s depressing.

spanieleyes22 · 30/05/2024 20:07

Omg it is pelting down now. Again. The roses and plants are destroyed . Will it ever end

I hear you! Aches and pains all the time. I'm sure the dampness adds to it. I just feel unwell when I get wet.

@67666d honestly how is that helpful?? You're not meant for this post.

Op I get it. I am sick of myself feeling so un-excited and bored and I reaised today it is probably because of the weather. I hate looking out the window and seeing grey and gloomy skies! I am outdoorsy and like to walk under the blue skies and it is free and makes you feel so much better. I have taken the kids indoor places but once we get home I feel bored again and then feel guilty for feeling it because it is nothing to do with the kids. Also when people on here say you can still walk in the rain, honestly it is not inviting or fun. You get soaked, it looks grim, you feel cold. It's so depressing and my garden grass is wild from the rain!

Justkeepswiimming · 30/05/2024 20:14

@Mozzarellaballs I've been soaked through to the skin several days running walking in the rain. In decent gear. Its absolutely no fun, particularly when the rain feels like blimim hail stones.

kerstina · 30/05/2024 20:32

So depressing . A bit of sunshine makes me happy but the UK is just absolutely crap at the moment.
Recently had my bloods tested and I am significantly low in Vitamin D . Not a surprise to me it’s always freezing and overcast.

LindorDoubleChoc · 30/05/2024 20:35

It is definitely a hugely unreasonable amount of rain and anyone who says "well what do you expect when you live in the UK?" can get to fuck!!

LindorDoubleChoc · 30/05/2024 20:38

BTW, is it just me or does the dehumidifier give off a little bit of heat? Mine is on again, next to the clothes horse covered in washing that should have been outside. But it has taken the chill off in my arctic kitchen. A tiny glimpse of positivity in a grim, grim, grim month.

It takes the chill out of the air because when a liquid evaporates it leaves a surface cooler, so your house and skin will feel cooler in a damp environment. But it's a machine, so yes, will probably give off a tiny bit of heat, too.

Speaking of heat, my central heating tried to switch on today because the house dipped below 17 degrees C. It's June in 2 days ffs.

Rainbow1612 · 30/05/2024 20:52

I'm fed up of soggy dog walks. It felt like autumn today.

JasmineTea11 · 30/05/2024 20:53

Yes. What's difficult is the idea of sliding into autumn and dark nights without a sense of having has any break 😱 I'm a very glass half full type and its really getting me down. Just no summer vibes, at all.

Evenstar · 30/05/2024 20:58

Our heating came on this morning, I had to change clothes after lunch as I was cold in summer stuff. I have fibromyalgia and have my heated throw over my legs this evening.

We have tickets for the Isle of Wight festival next month and are camping, at least it’s a pre pitched tent, 😬 I can’t bear the thought that the weather might be like this.
