I'll go first ...

B&M is over rated

Most of the home decor is tacky
I can get cleaning products at in the supermarket without a separate trip.
It's not super cheap like people say when you really compare the prices

Hopefully that’s becoming a popular opinion!

It's cold hard fact, as we all know.

TigerRag · 24/05/2024 18:55

I'm not a huge fan of fancy desserts. Just give me a bowl of strawberry ice cream!

The problem with unpopular opinions threads is that they should be full of "pineapple is great on pizza" and "The Godfather part III is the best one" but they always reach the shitty lows of "yay, eugenics and assaulting children!" And always by people who are weirdly proud and self-congratulatory about it.

I know! See, what I find endlessly fascinating is the pride and self congratulatory tone! but….. what’s going on there?? So so interesting.

I agree at best watch the Beeb adaptation or the Muppets which is clearly the best Christmas carol 😀

English people are weird with their dogs! ‘We won’t leave the dog alone’ ‘someone is always here with the dog’ WHY?! I don’t get it. In Australia they are just in the backyard mostly. Nobody I’ve ever met in my life would make sure someone is home with the dog 🤣

I've always thought that too. Here in NZ people go off to work in the morning and leave their dogs home alone - apparently that is a sin in the UK and unthinkable.

There are other countries where people take their dogs everywhere. Just for starters in France I’ve seen plenty in restaurants, and nobody throwing a MN type fit about GERMS!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 25/05/2024 10:51

Being obsessive about a bit of dirt and ‘hygiene’, as so many MNers would seem to be, is positively unhealthy and IMO bordering on a MH issue.

Pub culture binge drinking three sheets to the wind pissed is so way over rated in our skewed British culture society" too,

Nothing wrong having a sociable few drinks with friends catching up with things going on in your lives and having a bit of laughter and banter,
(obviously exceptions are, misogynistic bullshitter's some certain twats come out with,

It's the friends you are with,
the company you keep,
makes for a good time not how many drinks are inside you,

You can have a good time even when you are stone cold sober if you with quality good company friends,

I prefer traditional pubs with character such as the olde countryside family pubs etc,

Muslims ☪️ you really are not missing out on much,
not hanging out in the pubs and having to contend with being sexually harrassed abused while just wanting to just have a drink 🍸 with your mates.,
and not having to listen and fake laugh to a so called 🙄 jokes by the unofficial pub wit Comedian who thinks their jokes are hilarious,
they definately not that's for sure,

Also not having to breath the same air and mingle in the crowd as unfortunately you can come across certain males who are Arseholes 💩💩💩 and the female equilvant too 🤔 in a different ways..

cerisepanther73 · 25/05/2024 17:25

@randomusernam
This is all the things you have to contend with in the great British culture theee sheets to the wind culture,

It's so contrived and pushed onto you you are made to feel you are a boring fart and square if you don't participate fully get behind into this way of doing things...

What a load of nonsense 🙄

Sponge cake ...what is it good for?

Copilot Using the web

Certainly! Sponge cake is a versatile treat that can be enjoyed in various ways. Here are some delightful uses for sponge cake:

Layered Cake: Sponge cake serves as a great base for layered cakes. You can stack multiple layers of sponge cake with delicious fillings such as whipped cream, fruit preserves, or chocolate ganache. Add fresh berries or sliced fruits between the layers for extra flavor.

Trifles: Create a classic English dessert by layering sponge cake cubes with custard, fruit, and whipped cream. The soft texture of the cake soaks up the flavors, making it a delightful trifle.

Tiramisu: In the popular Italian dessert, sponge cake (often ladyfingers) is soaked in coffee and layered with mascarpone cheese and cocoa powder. Tiramisu is a rich and indulgent treat.

Strawberry Shortcake: Slice sponge cake horizontally and layer it with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Top with more whipped cream and additional strawberries. It’s a light and fruity dessert perfect for spring and summer.

Individual Desserts: Cut sponge cake into individual portions and serve them with a dollop of whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. You can also add a scoop of ice cream or a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

Cake Rolls: Roll up sponge cake with a filling of your choice—such as lemon curd, Nutella, or jam—to create a delightful cake roll. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Petit Fours: Cut small squares or rectangles from sponge cake and coat them with a thin layer of icing or fondant. Decorate with edible flowers, sprinkles, or chocolate drizzle. These bite-sized treats are perfect for special occasions.

Base for Fruit Tarts: Use a thin layer of sponge cake as the base for fruit tarts. Arrange fresh fruits (such as berries, kiwi, or peaches) on top and glaze with apricot jam for a glossy finish.

Ice Cream Cake: Layer sponge cake with your favorite ice cream flavors and freeze until firm. Slice and serve as an ice cream cake. You can also add crushed cookies or nuts between the layers.

Tea Time Snack: Enjoy plain sponge cake with a cup of tea or coffee. Its light texture makes it a delightful accompaniment to your afternoon beverage.

Remember, sponge cake is like a blank canvas—you can get creative with flavors, fillings, and decorations to suit your taste!

Nude as a clothing colour needs banning. From a distance (with my bad eyesight) I often wonder what on earth is going on 😂

I agree. I often have to look twice when I see a woman wearing light coloured leggings, as I think they've come out with no clothing on their bottom half lol.

That God exists and He wants you to know Him.

So why does he put such energy into hiding himself away? Why so coy and non-interventionist for a supposedly benign, omniscient, omnipotent being who's dying for his creation to form a relationship?
