I'll go first ...

B&M is over rated

Most of the home decor is tacky
I can get cleaning products at in the supermarket without a separate trip.
It's not super cheap like people say when you really compare the prices

Just because you managed to get it on doesn't mean it fits you ... (taking a look at yourself in a full length mirror before going out helps).

Going to be flamed for this but I think people should have to apply for some sort of licence before having children.

They should have to prove that both parties actually want the child and are able to look after it. I don't mean in terms of having loads of money but willingness to nurture and ensure that the child is loved. There ought to be some sort of compulsory parenting course before TTC so everyone knows pretty much what needs to happen to bring up well rounded children in basic terms. I also don't mean that the parents should never be able to separate if things don't work out but from my own experience so many go into parenthood with no idea what is involved and sorry to say but men especially seem to be able to just opt out when the going gets tough.

Not wording this very well but there seem to be so many children brought into this world without too much thought about what is actually involved.

Not flaming, but I'd like to hear more about how it would work.

What would you do in those cases where people have a kid and they haven't applied for the licence, got refused it if they did or didn't come to the compulsory parenting classes? Would you be compensating people for their time to attend, or even just their expenses?

People should stop flying - they are wrecking the planet and don't need to be able to jet off somewhere on a whim.

Aviation accounts for less than 2% of greenhouse gas emissions, and this figure is falling each year as engine design becomes more efficient.

Babies and toddlers who wear adidas joggers, adidas sweatshirts and trainers in little sizes look terrible.

Ok, agree to a point, but sometimes they do look cute, especially if they wear retro stuff. It’s endearing.

Bridgerton is so overrated.

Streaming is too expensive.

I disagree about Bridgestone. The story line might not b appealing to all but it has done wonders for the narrative and representation of people of colour in that era. Art has value beyond entertainment.

You're responsible for how you deal with what happened to you, whatever it is.

Oh God yes. The day I finally nutted up and dealt with my drug and alcohol addictions, instead of blaming them on trauma from the CSA I suffered, was the day I finally became a real human being. And my life's got exponentially better, happier, fitter and wealthier since.

My current unpopular opinions (as a born contrarian I have many others) are:

  • David Attenborough is an overrated posh boy emotional manipulator who got his role through his connections and not through any biological or zoological knowledge, which he doesn't have
  • There's still too much nepotism in the middle classes which keeps more intelligent working class kids out of Russell group and best jobs
  • Many protestors are really worried about Palestine, they just hate the West, which they see Israel as a front for
  • Same protestors wouldn't survive two hours in a fundamentalist Islamic society
  • Wagamama is crap
  • MaccyD's is really nice
  • Aldi salami is better than Waitrose salami
  • Dua Lipa is boring as hell
  • Chinese and Indian takeaways are overrated. Horrible slop
  • People who claim they don't have time to exercise are silly. A run takes 20 minutes. Just get up 20 minutes earlier.
  • Netflix isn't good anymore.
  • Richard Gadd is a liar

I couldn't give a shit if it's cream or jam first.

Yeah I always think it depends just how much jam and cream you like to have, e.g. if you have just a spread of jam that should go on first, but if you like a big blob of it and not so much cream maybe jam should go on last. I feel about this like the whole steak police thing where its like a competition who eats it the most rare and its a crime to have it well done (I have it medium rare so its nothing to do with me liking it well done or anything).

Dogs, I don't get the fascination.
Cats, same.
They are animals.

I don't want to see obese flesh on TV adverts. Yes Dove, I mean you.

Why are we saying it's ok to be fat and unhealthy!

I don't know, Fatnold.

I never wring my hands about the 'fat is unhealthy' thing, because god knows you can be fit and healthy, but I really don't find fat bodies aesthetically pleasing and I like to see aesthetically pleasing people on telly. Yes I'm shallow.

Snacking is completely unnecessary. If you can't function on 3 meals a day, you're doing them wrong.

If you want to snack, own that you are greedy.

Surely that stops them being snacks? They're just small meals?

Funnily enough IVF parents have to go through a 'welfare of the child' form to make sure that clinics are not just letting anyone have children! Funny that parents of none IVF children don't!

I have no idea how it would work. It's just that I see, unfortunately in my own family, people who go gooey eyed over babies and think oh one of those would be so lovely then practically ignore them or palm them off on grandparents because they find it too much boring hard work. It's heartbreaking.

Yes, and people who want to get a cat or dog from the Cats Protection League or the RSPCA, have to go through all sorts of checks regarding suitability. Yet it seems that little people can be brought into the world without a second thought.

It is indeed heartbreaking. I'm not sure creating an unworkable system that won't be adhered to by the people who'd most benefit from it is going to do anything to help with that, though.

Also, do you really trust the state with the welfare of children at the moment? After the last few years? I fucking don't.
