I'll go first ...

B&M is over rated

Most of the home decor is tacky
I can get cleaning products at in the supermarket without a separate trip.
It's not super cheap like people say when you really compare the prices

Coldplay are boring

Jeannie88 · 22/05/2024 20:16

Places like b and m used to be cheaper, but not anymore. Found a vanish spray half the price in sainsburys!

suburburban · 22/05/2024 20:21

Well said @snippysocks

AnnieSnap · 22/05/2024 20:29

Show tunes and musical theatre of all kinds are awful 😬

The problems no faith causes are pretty catastrophic - Pol Pot, Stalin, Putin, Kim il Sung in North Korea, Mao.....
The values of the west are built on the Judeo Christian faith. There are many intellectuals who have researched the historicity of Christ, found Him to be real and have decided to follow Him ( eg check John Lennox - Emeritus Professor of Mathematics[2] at the University of Oxford, an Emeritus Fellow in Mathematics and Philosophy of Science at Green Templeton College, Oxford University, and has worked as adjunct lecturer at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford University and at the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. He is also an Associate Fellow of the Saïd Business School and a Senior Fellow at the Trinity Forum.)

Jesus has had a huge impact on so many people from the time He lived until today.

but you’re stating that he lived as fact. Even if there was a man called Jesus, it would be impossible for him to resurrect, separate the waters, make one fish in to enough to feed thousands etc…. And the universe couldn’t have been created in 7 days a few thousand years ago.

Also other faiths don’t have the same version of events, it’s branched off over the years and different peope have followed the various branches which are all different variations, hence why there’s so many religions. So why is one more precise and true compared to the others…. They can’t all be right!

Up until a couple of hundred years ago (probably less) people thought people were possessed of for they had a seizure. There was no explanation or understanding but they didn’t have the scientific advances we do now. It’s laughable to think that they believed that but they didn’t know any better.

Anyway that’s for another thread but no one will ever convince me there is such a thing as god or heaven, because everything about religion defies logic

I think the concept of a ‘god’ is as legitimate as garden fairies. I can’t believe how many adults worldwide actually believe. It would be ok but the problems different faiths cause are

It may be biological - people do not have a choice? Have you heard of a biological meme?

Nah, it’s a social behaviour that people choose to rely on because it makes life easier for them. Biological memetics is a theory, with no evidence to support it.

I don't think (on this thread at least) anyone has been trying to convince you that there is a god, they're only trying to show that belief is not unreasonable. The unpopular opinion upthread was that religious belief is ridiculous, the response is not that you have to believe, but that belief is a reasonable choice to make (as is non belief).

Fatnold · 22/05/2024 20:41

People who believe in a God are deluded.

Ladybirdg1984 · 22/05/2024 21:07

Taylor Swift is overrated (get over your ex missus).

GoingUpUpUp · 22/05/2024 21:09

Single sex schools seem to turn out adults that can’t interact with the opposite sex in a ‘normal’ way even when they get to work.

Some people rush into kids/wedding planning/house buying etc and quickly realise they’ve run out of things to do and actually aren’t that keen on each other once all the ‘fun’ stuff runs out

Babies with ear rings and bows look cruel and chavvy.

Grown ups who love Harry Potter or Disney are weird.

What about Grown ups that Love Harry Potter AND Disney 😂

Ladybirdg1984 · 22/05/2024 21:12

It should be compulsory that Santa gets a cheap gift for all kids.
The aim is to stop children in less privileged households feeling they are less worthy of the expensive rubbish their friends receive from Santa.

To me, it’s all fairytales and I gave my reasoning as to why, as I felt it was appropriate to justify why I find it astonishing. It’s not unreasonable to believe but considering the nature of the thread it’s not unreasonable of me
to explain why I’m astonished….

I think pizza is horrible. The smell gives me instant nausea. I love carbs, cheese, and tomato/marinara sauces, so it makes no sense 🤣

Omg are you me? I hate pizza, it makes me feel sick...yet I don't have a problem with any of the ingredients.

Thisismynewname23 · 22/05/2024 21:39

I’m going to get in trouble for this… Beyoncé is so overrated 🫣

'Even if there was a man called Jesus, it would be impossible for him to resurrect, separate the waters, make one fish in to enough to feed thousands etc…. And the universe couldn’t have been created in 7 days a few thousand years ago.' You are right. It would be impossible. Unless God did it....

Babies and toddlers who wear adidas joggers, adidas sweatshirts and trainers in little sizes look terrible.

I agree

That concept is quite literally unbelievable to many people as it defies logic

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 22/05/2024 22:24

Afternoon Tea is a fucking rip off and I assume those who provide it cannot beleive their luck that people pay £25, for 3 finger sandwiches, a scone and a pot of tea.

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 22/05/2024 22:26

And if Jesus was watching over us when "An angel pulled me from the wreckage of my car", what was he doing when the car crashed?

Dontshootthemessengers · 22/05/2024 22:29

Cards against humanity is a terrible game. Offensive and rude for the sake of it, but not witty or clever like our friends claim it is

Pliudev · 22/05/2024 22:30

If people who take items to The Repair Shop care so much about them, why have they left them to fall apart in their shed/garage for years?

User556 · 22/05/2024 22:38

Religion was a way to control people and has no relevance to todays society

Surrogacy and fertility treatments should not be allowed to those in a homosexual relationship or single people

Teaching in schools (secondary) need an overhaul with more emphasis on real life eg finance, the way politics works and how our country is run, proper food lessons started from ingredients to preparation and cooking methods,

Certain things people need to pay for NHS treatment such as being drunk, drugs or stupid things like taking out things that they have wedged up there! (Eg the guy who got a coconut stuck up his backside)

I saved this comment about Swift as it sums her up perfectly for me -

'How on earth did this 'pied piper' garner so much acclaim for her social climbing, philandering, and her narcissism. She is not a role model for young girls, she is a manipulative orchestrator of a narratives that suits her own agenda, She also loves to surround herself by weakened
'celebrities' like she's some sort of oracle that will show them the light. How many boyfriends have you screwed and used for musical fodder now?
I've lost count. But you are not inspirational to my daughter, nor me. Thank goodness my smart nine year old sees through the continual BS and has zero interest.'

I wish my daughter (11) saw through it, she is obsessed.. like super obsessed.
