I'll go first ...

B&M is over rated

Most of the home decor is tacky
I can get cleaning products at in the supermarket without a separate trip.
It's not super cheap like people say when you really compare the prices

People who believe in a God are deluded.

True, if it wasn’t a widely held belief, it would indeed meet the criteria for delusion. There is as much evidence for a God as there is for a Tooth Fairy. After working in a neighbouring department for several years, I once discovered that a colleague of mine was a practicing Roman Catholic. We were/are scientists. I found it impossible to take her seriously after that 🤷‍♀️

Home bargains is miles better IMO

Babies with ear rings and bows look cruel and chavvy.

Grown ups who love Harry Potter or Disney are weird.

What about if you grew up on Harry Potter though? I was a similar age to the characters as well.

I’m no hardcore fan, been to the Studio Tour once (dressed in normal clothes) and read the books multiple times and watched the films. But I think there’s something sweet about having a connection to your childhood.

It doesn't matter which way round the toilet roll is on the holder as long as there is toilet roll

Baked beans* before cheese on a jacket potato

*Baked beans must be Heinz

Branston are the superior bean

Gravy is awful and ruins a meal. It just makes everything taste of gravy.

Gin is horrible

Some babies and some children are ugly, just like some adults are ugly - this is subjective and its great we don't all find the same people attractive.

Line of Duty wasn't a a very good T.V. programme

Yes to everything! But can we compromise on the gravy thing? I think it's delicious and ruined by having have dinner with it that simply doesn't go. A separate course of gravy? It's own meal?

Toenailz · 23/05/2024 01:41

Women who say that adult vulva's which are shaved/waxed smooth 'look like a child', are dodgy as fuck and need kept an eye on, because normal people don't think of children's genitals when discussing hair removal choices for adults.

Often, its actually just a cover to shame other women who choose & prefer to groom themselves this way, probably because of either inferiority issues, or that someone else prefers to groom themselves more than they do. Regardless - that comment (which I see ALL the time) makes them appear like predators far more so than the men who simply enjoy a hairless vulva, does.

Ditto for saying women do it because of the male gaze. Some of us just prefer it, even though no one is getting to see it.

Actually feel quite strongly about it.

Afternoon Tea is a fucking rip off and I assume those who provide it cannot beleive their luck that people pay £25, for 3 finger sandwiches, a scone and a pot of tea.

I agree, it's a ridiculous price and after you'd still go home hungry!

asdfgasdfg · 23/05/2024 03:02

@Pliudev When people leave the Repair Shop with their now pristine item DH and I say "and much can we now get at Christies/Ebay"

Garlicked · 23/05/2024 03:03

It's beyond weird to feel quite strongly about other people's views on your personal choice to rip out the natural hairs of your pubis.

Sorry

Sorry

I think it's extremely strange to even bother what other people do with their body hair. Couldn't give a fig what others do with theirs - unless I'm shagging them. But seems there's a lot of odd folk about - because it comes up more often than you'd expect.

None of the opinions about dogs are unpopular, there are negative threads about them at least weekly

Making a note to always be polite to you.

I love all animals including tiny insects so I don't really fit the mold of a serial killer.
IF I was I'd go after abusers of all forms.
Best leave it there though before it starts to sound like a manifesto.

nothingsforgotten · 23/05/2024 07:09

English people are weird with their dogs! ‘We won’t leave the dog alone’ ‘someone is always here with the dog’ WHY?! I don’t get it. In Australia they are just in the backyard mostly. Nobody I’ve ever met in my life would make sure someone is home with the dog 🤣

I've always thought that too. Here in NZ people go off to work in the morning and leave their dogs home alone - apparently that is a sin in the UK and unthinkable.

Orangeandgold · 23/05/2024 07:23

PossumintheHouse · 21/05/2024 15:23

So what's happening with the dogs, then?

@PossumintheHouse not sure if it’s been answered but the dog breeding business is cruel in my eyes. Forcing dogs to breed for our leisure. I’m sure we wouldn’t have half as many domestic pets if it wasn’t a big business.

Im with the unpopular opinion that domesticating certain pets is cruel - especially if you don’t have the space for it.

TheTwirlyPoos · 23/05/2024 07:46

Surrogacy is immoral and should be banned.

People who loudly proclaim that Taylor Swift is average or they 'don't get the hype' are either monunentally stupid or attention seeking.

The 'teachers say they work harder than anyone else' is a trope of fiction created so the bashers can continue.

BlueFlowers5 · 23/05/2024 07:57

What is B&M?

ArchaeoSpy · 23/05/2024 07:57

That people should study their political positions before voting

ArchaeoSpy · 23/05/2024 07:59

also people are omg at some of the high salaries that top ceos get, but do some realise its partly made up with stocks and shares etc and for the amout of hours they put in, part of the trade off is the ££

Are you not in the UK? It's a discount shop that sells everything.

L.o.l 😂😊 grown ups are weird who like Harry Potter and Disney

I can't get into Harry Potter films either , but can understand the sort of appeal still to this kind of genre though,

However i do like some Disney films though

It's pure escapism really and nostalgia watching films like that as a child,

There is a link to aswell that excessive day dreaming and escapism can be a sign of adverse shitty trauma experinces especially childhood ones
Wanting to escape reality or live more in a fantasty worlds through whatever means available..

No wonder 🤔 i like escapism films etc so much ..

Fizzy drinks in plastic bottles should be banned. There’s nothing good for you in them and the plastic waste is ruining the planet. There’s not one good thing about them.
ban them.

There is good in them if you add rum

songaboutjam · 23/05/2024 08:20

I don't think it's odd to like Disney or Harry Potter (I'm a Ghibli adult myself) but I did know a couple where the wife had made the entire house Harry Potter themed. That does come across as a little unusual. In general I'm fine with adult fans of either as long as I can discuss adult topics without them bringing up constant references, political comparisons etc with media meant for children.

DoraSpenlow · 23/05/2024 09:08

Going to be flamed for this but I think people should have to apply for some sort of licence before having children.

They should have to prove that both parties actually want the child and are able to look after it. I don't mean in terms of having loads of money but willingness to nurture and ensure that the child is loved. There ought to be some sort of compulsory parenting course before TTC so everyone knows pretty much what needs to happen to bring up well rounded children in basic terms. I also don't mean that the parents should never be able to separate if things don't work out but from my own experience so many go into parenthood with no idea what is involved and sorry to say but men especially seem to be able to just opt out when the going gets tough.

Not wording this very well but there seem to be so many children brought into this world without too much thought about what is actually involved.
