I'll go first ...

B&M is over rated

Most of the home decor is tacky
I can get cleaning products at in the supermarket without a separate trip.
It's not super cheap like people say when you really compare the prices

@NecessaryNC24 yeah thank god I only have two school years between mine, I feel sorry for the mum's with a big age gap between their youngest and eldest having to do the school run for years and years. It will be 9 years for me between eldest and youngest, that's more than enough. It will free me up to work full time. I'll be shouting next July ; I'VE DONE MY TIME 😂

🙌🏻

Television nowadays is so sexualised, perverse and violent that it surely can only please the depraved. Everything should be dialled back to wholesome content like the waltons

Pollipops1 · 22/05/2024 08:28

Goodness I really wasn't expecting anyone to take that seriously. Hence the "give or take"
It was a joke

Well that’s awkward!

Realduchymarmalade · 22/05/2024 08:28

All mainstream/popular/high street shoes are terrible for your children’s developing feet/hips/knees/gait/posture.
Same goes for adults.

Realduchymarmalade · 22/05/2024 08:30

Long talon–like painted nails make you look like cruella deville, a transvestite or a madam in a brothel

Also, how do you wipe your arse?

SBGHJ · 22/05/2024 08:35

False eyelashes and nails (the OTT obviously fake kind) look dirty.

Justleaveitblankthen · 22/05/2024 08:42

The W7 cheapo range of cosmetics is about a third of the price that Tesco charge, so I stock up.
I use B&M for pet treats mainly.

Not a patch on Wilkos though 🥺

The Crown was the most boring load of tosh since Downton Abbey!
Each scene seemingly lasting 3 and a half weeks in real time 🤨

EnterFunnyNameHere · 22/05/2024 08:47

People (mostly women in my experience) who cannot comprehend that just because their children are the best thing they've ever done doesn't mean that having children is right for me have a very narrow world view. You're not me, you don't live in my head, please don't tell me that I'm somehow fooling myself thinking I don't want kids.

Added to which, show some emotional maturity - what good is it doing to tell me that what I think about what I feel is wrong?! Do you seriously think on your say so I'm just going to procreate and hope for the best?! I don't quiz you on why on Earth you had kids, so please don't quiz me on why on Earth I don't!

We over use the words phobic and phobia. No one has “an uncontrollable, irrational, and lasting fear” of fat people, for example.

I do

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 22/05/2024 09:02

Downtown Abbey was shite and full of cliched situations you could see coming.

Mums, not dads. Of course. Always the woman's responsibility and guilt if she needs to work 🙄

Mum’s generally have a stronger bond with children. It’s not about guilt or shame. IMO it’s better for the child if mum stays at home. I think the expectations on mum’s to be everything to everyone is ridiculous. Regardless of how we’ve evolved as a society, the need for a child to be with its mother hasn’t.

All " gritty police" dramas are as predictable as fuck. Likewise all "action thrillers".

Realduchymarmalade · 22/05/2024 09:17

Generally speaking, men and women suit their historical gender roles and society and children particularly benefit from them

Realduchymarmalade · 22/05/2024 09:19

Marriages where the couples keep their finances separate from each other, are a bit strange

Saying you have an allergy to a certain food unless you are anaphylactic makes it harder for people with a life threatening condition

Erm just because it's not anaphylactic doesn't mean it can't be serious. My daughter suffers and its been so hard seeing her in so much pain

I used to say I had an allergy because it was easier than trying to explain that I'd get migraine and vertigo. Many people still think a migraine is "just a headache" and that vertigo is a fear of open spaces. (I used to get so dizzy I couldn't stand up)

Still didn't stop someone trying to tell me what I can and can't eat. (My problem was cheese. Someone interpreted that as dairy and told me I couldn't have something with chocolate in)

Cockerpoos should be renamed Cockerchavs.

I never understood the obsession with coffee.

It's vile, the smell look and taste makes me heave and I don't like the word 'coffee''. It's like sewerage junk!

That’s nonsense, looking back through history it’s only a very small window where mothers would be expected to be not just at home with dc but spending all their time with them. Before mod cons there would not have been the time.

@suki1964

You wrote 'However the breeds you have named are crossbreed, specifically crossed to enhance/change characteristics

Because Pugs are so badly bred in the past ( and there are calls on banning the breeding of them ) for example, pugs are now crossed to another breed so their muzzles become longer to help with the breathing issues they have '

........

You are completely ignorant and spouting copy and paste rubbish. We have many dogs and have actually adopted a Pug X Jack Russell (idiots call them Jugs) and whilst he is loved and cared for, he is an abomination.

People have played God in producing these breed mixes and the resulting dogs can suffer.

They breed them to make the face less flat but the tongue of our one is meant to fit the long snout of a Jack Russell. His face isn't squashed flat like a Pug but the tongue is still too long for his face shape and he has to make a conscious effort to hold it in. When he is relaxed and or asleep the tongue hangs out as he cannot hold it in and the end becomes dry and crispy. It's cruel and people playing God in producing different dog mixes in this manner are cruel.

But you missed the actual point of my post regarding these breed mixes as it was referring to the high prices that fools will pay for a dog that has a mixture of breeds that is essentially a mongrel.

And you are missing my point

All "pedigree" dogs are crosses , bred specifically to produce a new breed

Im sorry that you have an "abomination" ( your words )

I have a cross breed pug as well, some call it a Frug, I call it a wee sod :)

He doesnt have any of the problems with the tongue, eyes or breathing but has the charm, gentleness, playfulness and character of a pug

However this isnt the thread for this

Enjoy your dog

Life would be made better if all social media channels were banned

Dogs should not be dressed in twee little coats, be allowed to sit on chairs made for humans or be allowed into eating places. People who infantilise their dogs are cruel

Voting should be compulsory for anyone 16+

We do not deserve this planet and it will be better off without humanity surviving on it

There is nobody alive who looks better after having cosmetic surgery on their face and, yes, it is always obvious

As a nation the English are unpleasant and uneducated

Voting for everyone should not be compulsory
You should have to pass a test to be allowed

@Realduchymarmalade I totally agree about TV shows nowadays. Everything seems to involve sex, violence or sadism in scenes that don't need really to be shown in such detail. Everything seems so gritty and dark, like we are plumbing the depths of depravity to hit the shock factor. Even soaps seem to have to offer helplines at the end of each episode these days because they deal with such troubling issues. I used to watch soaps for light hearted entertainment but they depress me now, to be honest. Same for music. I work with teenagers and their choice of music is often sinister and deals with very adult themes.
