I’m slightly late to this, but the recent fall in the number of visa applications from health and social care workers is truly remarkable. Down from 18,300 applicants in August 2023 to 2,400 in March 2024.

This is not good news.
I'm sure many people will dismiss the impact of this but I can only assume they haven't had to find care for a vulnerable relative.

It is good news, we urgently need to stop people coming here taking our jobs and living on benefits. Its one of the reasons we all voted for Brexit.

I suspect Johnson deliberately forgot his ID (with an aw shucks, little old hilarious me schtick) because he can't cope with being an irrelevance in this election.
Waving to his fan base - remember meeeeeeee.
Twat.

I suspect it was pure, unadulterated arrogance. Rules don't apply to special people like him.

Exactly! They're preventing Great British people from wiping Great British bums.

Wiping bums is quite beneath me, aren't there some foreigners we can pay very little to do that instead?

Evenstar · 02/05/2024 21:14

Not all of us voted for Brexit 😡

bombastix · 02/05/2024 21:16

Tbh I don't meet anyone who voted for Brexit anymore. It's weird

That's because the remoaners who took over the government after Brexit did such a bad job of Brexit that no one wants to admit to it now. If only we had been governed by enlighted true believers we would see how successful Great Britain can be.

Sun's shining and if you look carefully you can see a unicorn.

bombastix · 02/05/2024 21:25

It's not even implanted yet and we could be under a new government next year taking to the EU about the terms of the deal we made.

Surreal. The EU are mean as shit once you are outside and on their border. I wonder why nobody mentioned that one during the referendum.

Anyway, perhaps we will meet up again and they will look at us like we are crazy. It's so toxic how it was done, never mind the actual deal.

L1ttledrummergirl · 02/05/2024 21:30

We went down to vote this evening and nearly ended up in the wrong place- they've moved our voting station. We actually had to queue.

The atmosphere was quite sombre, I don't think it's been like that at all when I've voted. Last time was strange, but we were under covid rules, this felt as though people were resigned but wanted to make themselves heard.

DuncinToffee · 02/05/2024 21:34

I have just come back from voting, DH, DD and I were the only ones there (PCC vote)

It’s gets better apparently he tried to show an envelope with his name and address as proof https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/boris-johnson-turned-away-polling-32724518

Presumably it was just the ‘photo’ part of the phrase ‘photo ID’ that was difficult for him to comprehend.

Thinking about how the Tories are going to be describing things as "a win", "a better night than people were predicting" etc etc. That and the Tory press portraying Labour, civil servants, Bibby barge protesters, legal asylum seekers, students, unions, Angela Rayner, but Corbyn, lefty lawyers etc etc. They're really going to be going hard on it all until GE day . Even harder.

Zonder · 03/05/2024 00:03

Who's going to be first with any kind of result then?

L1ttledrummergirl · 03/05/2024 00:21

Sunderland is in. It looks like a good hold for Labour.

Bbc coverage with Kuenssberg is getting the tory excuses in early.

RafaistheKingofClay · 03/05/2024 00:40

Some big vote share increases for reform across all wards in Sunderland though.
