I believe you can be on the electoral role in more than one ward depending on residence.

However it is an offence to vote more than once - so pick one and stick to it.

Ah sorry missed this

HannibalHeyes · 04/05/2024 14:33

Well done London!

IClaudine · 04/05/2024 14:34

This is all such excellent news. I love you, London!

Plenty of people feel like this.

Unlike in 1997, the media aren't behind Labour & Starmer hasn't the panache Blair had.

However, the shine came off Blairs promises if i remember correctly, so i'd rather a more "boring" leader who delivers in spite of a much more difficult economic outlook than Blair inherited.

But Labour do have to be less timid, e.g their plans on Dentistry pretty much mirror the Tories (or vice versa) same on Gaza, the UK is miles behind many other countries and also behind where the general public are on this too.... its simply not good enough.

I actually think it works in Labour and Starmer's favour.
No one expects much to change, its just possible Sunak is right and the economy is picking up, so Starmer will have that on his side too. As things get better Starmer will be credited, Tories will still be a mess, Starmer will win a 2nd term then some time after step down.

Looks possible Khan wins with highest share of any Mayor of London ever. Using 1st round as like for like comparison.

Kieran Pedley from IPSOS.

That would round things off nicely.

That suggests that he believes it's the lack of tax cuts that has led to these results ?

Not sure if I'd find much use for him if I had to reboot the human race.

Does no one at Tory HQ understand the metaphor of flogging a dead horse ?

It does serve to highlight though, who was Chancellor when all these taxes they now want to cut...

mibbelucieachwell · 04/05/2024 14:40

Prof Sir John Curtice calling it for a Sadiq win now.

Thank the lord for this result.

This is all such excellent news. I love you, London!

Not as much as I love Liverpool. And I say that as Londoner.

9 times as many votes for Labour as Tory. Bet Hunt can't explain those figures. (Not that anyone will ask).

That would be the same Bromley that fucked all of London over Fares Fair then ?

Cunch of Bunts.

IClaudine · 04/05/2024 14:43

From last night (sorry if someone has already posted). 😭

What's going on in the London Mayoral race? No votes have been counted yet, so hold on to your hats.. but it is clear tonight that the race is much much closer than some polls had suggested...

0% swing in Bexley & Bromley. Just doing what they always do (which is to swerve critical thinking).

Sunak could have voted in both places legally if he'd wanted to Hmm or doesn't he understand his own government's rules WinkConfused

Well yes. It’s totally legal and normal for lots of reasons/life circumstances. Tories don’t like it when Rayner does it though. (You don’t have to pick one and stick to it exactly - just don’t vote from both in any one election).

Bromley loves the car. It is the only place in London where they put their foot down if you are crossing the road!

Lib Dem take second place

(workers party and reform are on 4 and 2 respectively)

This makes it clearer although I'm not 100% sure he could have voted in both the London Mayoral election and his local mayoral contest -

"Either or both areas"

It's just UK Parliament, UK Referendums and London Assembly/Mayoral contests where you can't vote in both places.
