Lots of x posting…it’s just so good to see after the bot rumours last night

DuncinToffee · 04/05/2024 13:59

According to senior Tory sources “yesterday’s briefings were from some local activists who got a bit overexcited”.

😂

Now I'm definitely more relaxed!

I'm London South West... so Conservative territory in the past. But ya never know!

No, not from Client Journalists at all. No.

Was it heck as like.
They were desperate to give Sunak something to cling to for a few hours.

I am assuming that my bit of London will be the only part that votes Hall over Khan.

Because cleaner air is communist around here...

Snowjive2 · 04/05/2024 14:08

Khan has won SW London

tobee · 04/05/2024 14:08

What is the point of briefing that Khan might be having a close shave when the votes have already been cast?

fabio12 · 04/05/2024 14:09

Surely no one wins when the arse-licking paid for journo's do this though? They look stupid and the gov look out of touch. It was obvious to most people with a pulse which way this was going to go.

The women to Rwanda is very angering for me. As a pp said a while back, this is likely because they register and are looking for housing and schools for kids. I am sure most fascists just want the young forrin' men out though, so this will not be high on their agenda as "winning" for the Tories. Women don't threaten jobs in the same way...

tobee · 04/05/2024 14:09

When are the assembly results announced? Just curious

Downing Street admits that Rishi Sunak did not vote for Susan Hall in London. A source said the Prime Minister used a postal vote for the contest in York and North Yorkshire where Labour's David Skaith won the newly created mayoralty against the Tories' Keane Duncan.

Hmmm

Snowjive2 · 04/05/2024 14:08

Khan has won SW London

He won in South West London by 77,011 votes to Tory challenger Susan Hall's 68,856 votes.

That's a swing to Labour of 2.6 percentage points - and the second part of London so far today that has gone from backing the Tories in 2021 to Labour in 2024.

Tell the world you are a think fucker without telling the world you are a thick fucker.

Personally it's no one's business who he voted for. And maybe we should keep it that way ?

But Sunak lives in London, doesn't he?
I thought (checks notes) that it is absolutely unforgivable to be on the electoral roll in another place just because you own property there.
Obviously the police will be right on this, as this is at least a current situation, not a decade old accusation...

I believe you can be on the electoral role in more than one ward depending on residence.

However it is an offence to vote more than once - so pick one and stick to it.

Hunt is apparently considering tax cuts in the autumn to appease the Tory right-wing. A further decline in public services is therefore imminent. I don't know why their answer to their growing unpopularity is tax cuts. Surely they've tried that and it's got them no where? (Not that I want them to gain popularity).

Tory voting friends of mine don't want tax cuts, they want improved public services but its too late to improve them before the next GE, so tax cuts is all they've got.

Its grim that Hunt is funding these with future public service cuts, should be illegal, he is effectively screwing over the UK for possible electoral gain.

That suggests that he believes it's the lack of tax cuts that has led to these results ?

Not sure if I'd find much use for him if I had to reboot the human race.

Does no one at Tory HQ understand the metaphor of flogging a dead horse ?

Saucery · 04/05/2024 14:28

I used to love a good tax cut. Now I’m more into a health service that’s fit for purpose, schools that can do the best for every single child and roads I can drive down without knackering my car. Dangling a tax cut ain’t gonna do shit for me or my voting intentions.

Would he have had a vote in the London mayoral?

Every 1p in [personal] tax cuts will cost you 5p in paying elsewhere for services that should be provided by the state.

Anyone who can't grasp that is thick as pigshit. It doesn't need explaining
