Mishal Husain: Are you going to change the plan?

Andrew Griffith: No, we're going to keep delivering the plan

Mishal Husain: The reason I ask, because it's a plan that's just lost you 448 councillors.

#r4today

Better that Tories think it's going ok/in denial and Labour thinking they have work to do. Labour should not be resting on their laurels.

So the same Rwandan government Rishi Sunak insists will provide a "safe" haven for refugees arriving in the UK, has now been blamed for the bombing of a refugee camp

Thank goodness the government have declared Rwanda a safe country huh?

@Notonthestairs - fantastic figures!

tobee · 04/05/2024 13:19

I thought low turnout (27%) was supposed to be a bad sign for Labour?

Notonthestairs · 04/05/2024 13:20

They really are! I've had to temporarily shake off my Eeyore-ish demeanour!

Notonthestairs · 04/05/2024 13:21

Up in West Mids where I’m told the race is genuinely too close to call. Here’s the turnout - overall 29.8 per cent

London - West Central won by Khan. (Last time Shaun Bailey beat him here!)
Feeling more hopeful now but still got all the ULEZ burbs to come.

I'll be voting Labour.

But I'll be doing it with no enthusiasm, nor the feelings of hope and promise of change I felt in 1997.

My oldest dc can vote this time (1st time!) and feels the same.

If labour aren't offering young people the promise of change, then...what's the point, other than to get the tories out?

It's hardly inspiring.

I'm not sure even the plotters to remove sunak care that much anymore tbh.

I'll be watching the Ch 4 election coverage, so I won't have to look at LK!

Plenty of people feel like this.

Unlike in 1997, the media aren't behind Labour & Starmer hasn't the panache Blair had.

However, the shine came off Blairs promises if i remember correctly, so i'd rather a more "boring" leader who delivers in spite of a much more difficult economic outlook than Blair inherited.

But Labour do have to be less timid, e.g their plans on Dentistry pretty much mirror the Tories (or vice versa) same on Gaza, the UK is miles behind many other countries and also behind where the general public are on this too.... its simply not good enough.
