Trying to make cake toppers for my dd Snow White birthday cake. If it was just at my home I wouldn’t care how bad they are but we’re going to a restaurant with a load of friends and I am a bit self conscious about this cake and everyone else seeing it and secretly laughing at it.

i feel like these are horrendous and thinking of just giving up and going Tesco ha! Pls tell me the truth should I give up while I’m ahead?!

PlumBear · 30/04/2024 10:35

They look great! I’m sure your daughter will be thrilled with them.

marzipanlover81 · 30/04/2024 10:35

I think they look great

ZipZapZoom · 30/04/2024 10:37

They're very good in the sense that many people could make them as well as you have but I must admit my first thought was Dopey's seem some traumatic shit. 😅

I'd chuck them on the cake and it will be a nice family memory in years to come.😅

qotsa · 30/04/2024 10:37

Oh. I think they are great. It's so lovely too spending the time and making the effort to do them. They are really cartoony and they are perfect for a child's birthday cake. 🎂

Bonbon21 · 30/04/2024 10:37

They look great!
I am quite jealous...
Well done you!

Barktip · 30/04/2024 10:38

I think they are pretty good! They certainly have character! You’ll get better as you work through all 7 plus Snow White! Stick with it

Womblingmerrily · 30/04/2024 10:38

I think they're great and anyone sneering at them - they are the problem.

Most importantly your child will love them - my children remember my far worse attempts at their cake requests fondly.

It's family - not a professional bake off.

Justbetweenus · 30/04/2024 10:40

I think they look great! It’s a homemade cake that reflects DD’s current interest - it doesn’t need to be perfect. Keep going :)

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 30/04/2024 10:41

The one on the left looks a bit scary but I think they’re fab! I’m the type that would just tell everyone as soon as the cake was coming out that I made it. I’d be really proud of that!

SkaneTos · 30/04/2024 10:42

They look good! Really cute. Well done.
I could never manage to make those in a million years.

wheretoyougonow · 30/04/2024 10:42

I love them and your daughter will really appreciate the effort you've gone to.
If your friends laugh and you unkindly you need new friends not new cake toppers....

MaltipooMama · 30/04/2024 10:43

Ooh I think they look fab! They're dwarves in a fairytail story as well so surely they're not meant to look "aesthetically perfect"?! If I was a friend or family member I'd be well impressed that you made them yourself. Your child will love it!

Cattenberg · 30/04/2024 10:44

I’d be pretty pleased with myself if I’d made those!

Hotgirlwinter · 30/04/2024 10:44

They look kinda evil but I really like that haha

they’re great OP, I always make my kids a birthday cake. Im hopeless at baking and worse at decorating but they always love them and sure your DD will be so happy. Good
job!

Mamoun · 30/04/2024 10:44

They look great. I'd be proud of myself if I had managed that!

idontlikealdi · 30/04/2024 10:45

way better than I could do but I'd just buy them in the first place!

SiobhanSharpe · 30/04/2024 10:46

I think they are really good, it's obvious they are part of the seven dwarves. (Presumably you're going to do a prettier/graceful Snow White!)
I'd definitely use them and can only think the less than favourable comments here must have come from experienced cake makers and decorators.

Justcallmebebes · 30/04/2024 10:49

I think they're brilliant. Who cares if they're a bit quirky. That's part of the charm. Well done you, far better than could have done

LittleGreenDuck · 30/04/2024 10:49

I think they're brilliant. I've served cakes with a lot worse - the mermaid theme was a memorable one!

If you were selling these as a professional baker, then no. But it's a family party and I'm sure your DC will be thrilled with them.

My mum always made my birthday cakes and I still have fond memories of them, hoping my children will feel the same, despite them not being Instagram perfect.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 30/04/2024 10:49

I think Milo O'Shea on the right is a particularly good likeness. I like them.

Peasnbeans · 30/04/2024 10:51

I think these are weirdly great. It's a family party - spend the money somewhere else more memorable.

~sighs at pressure to live an Instagram perfect life and spend like the Kardashians~

Toddlerteaplease · 30/04/2024 10:51

They look great. I'd never be able to do that!

FranticFrankie · 30/04/2024 10:53

I like them
I bet your DD will love them
Good luck with the rest ☺️
