I think it's a shame when women fill their face with botox and fillers @Solgrass but I can't see that Holly looks any different to what she usually looks like. I think I may need to see better photos.

Edited

Fair enough, I could be wrong but to my eye seems like she has

@Prawncow

Ah but society's judgements Hollys looks have made her millions. So you’re saying don’t judge negatively, only positively

The only thing I noticed is that she’s wearing a great coat!

Crikeyalmighty · 21/04/2024 13:35

I the biggest hater of the trout put look- but she looks perfectly fine

I remember Leslie Ash having
lip fillers decades before this current trend
and being totally traumatised and career damaged by it, as they were very swollen, ie just like many today, but not the fashion back then. How times have changed...

It was different stuff back then sadly Far more permanent and her body reacted badly to it.

WhamBamThankU · 21/04/2024 13:37

It's giving Leslie ash vibes around the mouth

Solgrass · 21/04/2024 13:38

@WhamBamThankU

Agree, that’s what I see

She's messed up her beautiful face with fillers. It's not anti feminist to notice when women mess up their faces and comment on it. Fillers need to go out of fashion immediately. They look awful.

It is when it blames the women, not the patriarchy/our sexist society. Fucking men don't mess about with this shit nearly as much, women feel they have to.

Prawncow · 21/04/2024 13:41

I’m saying give women a break. We all have enough to deal with.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 21/04/2024 13:41

Nice women don’t give opinions though?

Please don't pretend you think that posters are saying that women (nice or otherwise) shouldn't have opinions. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but specifically starting a thread to criticise an individual woman's appearance is completely unnecessary and contributes nothing useful to any conversation about anything.

If you're trying to deflect from the mean-spiritedness of your thread by making posters look bad or unfeminist for denying you the right to an opinion, it's not working. It's bad enough that sexist men think the only noteworthy thing about women is their appearance. There's really no need for women to pile on as well.

patchworkpal · 21/04/2024 13:42

I think its great she's found work outside the UK that will perhaps give her a break from all the comments and speculation on her appearance and focus on her skills as a presenter. She's incredibly talented.

Solgrass · 21/04/2024 13:45

Give yourself a pat on the back, well done for doing good womaning!

Personally I don’t agree with this. I do agree that we should not comment on an individual’s natural appearance, I.e. what they were born with. But I think we should be able to have an opinion on fashion tastes and choices esp when the person has a team if ‘experts’ advising them and spends copious amounts of money wanting to look a certain way.

she’s a role model and her actions are actively promoting poor cosmetic practices to a mainstream audience.

It wasn't good womaning. It was just pointing out totally deliberate and unnecessary bad womaning. I'll settle for being an ok woman, thanks. No pats on the back needed.

See …bad womaning for giving non nice opinions.
We bad women are the worst

It's perfectly possible to have a pretty robust and critical conversation about fashion and cosmetic procedures without starting a thread to say 'Ooh look at her! What's she done to her face?!' though, isn't it? I think it's terrible that the fashion industry, social media, peer pressure and general public scrutiny make women feel the need to conform to such images of youth and beauty. Pointing out how bad individual women look afterwards does the opposite of reducing that self-consciousness though, doesn't it?

Quartz2208 · 21/04/2024 14:06

I think it is becoming more popular for men as well to use fillers and it is creating an unnatural look - in the pictures of Victoria Beckham 50th David Beckham has clearly had it done as well. Currently in society we are seeing all of this as a good thing to the point where even young people are doing it to themselves rather than aging naturally

Solgrass · 21/04/2024 14:07

Has he? I knew he had a hair transplant but never noticed anything else. Will have a look

Exactly!

Grumblevision · 21/04/2024 14:46

Fillers are grim. I put this in the same box as 'we should support sex work because it's empowering' - pretending fillers look good and lining the pockets of people doing them, selling the products, etc is bollocks. It's my line. I don't mind makeup, don't wear it often (though loved playing with it when younger) but invasive stuff is insane. Actually, so is the obsession with products, trying 87 different things that promise to make a difference, the SAME difference, that won't do anything other than make someone else some money. The beauty industry is fucking stupid.

Dollychopsporkchops · 21/04/2024 14:48

Hi op, why don’t you have a look on indeed.com or LinkedIn? Seeing as you have so much time your hands…

Meanwhile I am off Googling trying to find the coat!

Take your own advice then and don’t comment on this thread or others comments, if you feel that way inclined

Difference is you’ve used a public forum asking a question and people will give you an answer you like or don’t like but you’ve put the question out there. Holly is walking with her husband minding her own business and people like you think you have a right to pass judgement on her looks. Doesn’t matter if you like what she’s had done or not it’s her face not yours. It’s not wonder people have tweaks and things done when random people constantly criticise them
