Thread 13 - TalkLair: “I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.”

(Previous thread 12).

Looks like spring has sprung! Tulips, apple blossom and early hay fever are upon us. In the TalkLair, we remain hunkered down keeping cosy and warm, because "something something 'til May is out". The hearth is glowing, the walls covered in dubious artwork, books by non-approved authors line the shelves, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

I'm glad Mouse is being looked after in hospital. I won't offer to send a card because mail between the US and UK is currently taking a week or more and who knows where she'll be by then, but would somebody else please add my good wishes to theirs?

DeanElderberry · 13/05/2024 07:26

The post from Ireland is also taking unpredictable but too long times for delivery, so please will people give her my very best wishes.

SinnerBoy · 13/05/2024 07:32

I'm glad to hear she's being cared for and is recuperating. Please pass on my best wishes, too.

Kucinghitam · 13/05/2024 08:38

Thanks for the update @SqueakyDinosaur! I'm glad Mouse is recovering, how scary for her Sad Please send my love and good wishes Flowers

Lots of love to Mouse and it's good to know she's being looked after.

MouseMinge · 13/05/2024 11:18

I'm so sorry I worried you all. Yes, I've had pneumonia which has cleared up. I'm still in hospital because on Thursday or Friday, and there's no other way to say this, I violently shat myself. Twice. I remain in isolation because it could be neurovirus but I don't think it is. I like being in a side room because wards are annoying! I also have a fractured vertebra. I have osteoporosis so I don't know how it fractured but probably coughing. Apparently it would take a car crash for a normal person.

I'm currently at the phase of physios and occupational therapists preparing me for discharge. Hopefully early this week but I need to be confident to walk properly again. I'll be glad to see my Francis again. It's been nearly three weeks! And yes, I'm pretty sure that was Snoop you spoke to 🙂

Kucinghitam · 13/05/2024 11:22

Oh @MouseMinge - wonderful to hear from you! I was getting rather worried. So sorry to hear about your alarming health woes, but I really am glad that you're now feeling well enough to MN Grin Snoop is so lovely to be looking after you and fielding the messages of Internet Randos!

So sorry about your health woes @MouseMinge but so happy you're well enough to post again. Good luck on your escape plan!

duc748 · 13/05/2024 11:33

Great to hear from you, @MouseMinge ! Everything crossed!

NoBinturongsHereMate · 13/05/2024 11:38

Gosh, that's rather a lot! I'm not surprised you've been quiet. Hopefully you get a bit more rest in a side room than in a ward, which will help recovery.

SinnerBoy · 13/05/2024 11:44

MouseMinge · Today 11:18

Yay! You're back! I'm sorry to hear about all your extra health problems, which I'm sure is the last thing you need at the moment. Hope you're home soon and up and about.

Britinme · 13/05/2024 12:04

artant · 13/05/2024 15:51

Scary times @MouseMinge !

Very glad to hear you’re on the mend and that you’re in a side ward getting a bit more peace.

Gonners · 13/05/2024 18:29

Argh, @MouseMinge - I hope you're home very soon. I'm sure Francis (once he's punished you for a few minutes) will be as happy to see you as you will be to see him.

Winterborne74 · 13/05/2024 20:13

Glad you’re posting @MouseMinge .Hope you are on the mend.

DeanElderberry · 13/05/2024 21:08

I'm sorry you have had such a rotten time and hope you're home with an appreciative and purry Francis soon.

weaseleyes · 13/05/2024 22:13

Jesus, @MouseMinge , that sounds bloody horrendous! wishing you all the best in terms of recovery and being reunited with Francis soon

VictorianBigot · 13/05/2024 22:41

What a horrible ordeal @MouseMinge. I hope you’re being well looked after and that you’re cuddling Francis very soon.

MouseMinge · 14/05/2024 10:32

I'm definitely still here until tomorrow at least. The physio is going to get me on stairs tomorrow. I'm relatively confident I'll be okay with that. My guess is that it won't be tomorrow but should be the day after.

I've been lucky because I've been in a side room for most of the time I've been here. I was on a ward that got locked down because one of the bays had norovirus. I got moved to a side room on the ward I've been on ever since because I was on oxygen and the first ward didn't have oxygen via the wall so we were using huge oxygen cylinders briefly until the move. Side room because I needed isolation because I'd come from a closed ward. I stayed there until Friday when I was moved to a ward. I was there for a few hours when I had the second and more violent bowel explosion and I was very quickly to another side room. I went from room 20 to a ward to room 19 in a matter of a few hours.

Kucinghitam · 14/05/2024 10:49

Flowers @MouseMinge Flowers What an epic time you've had! Fingers crossed all is plain sailing from here, and you'll be home with your lovely kitty in short order.

Geez Mouse, you know how to wangle your way to a private room but that was a bit extreme!

DeanElderberry · 14/05/2024 20:12

I hope you're able to sleep in the place you're in now. I was talking to friend this morning who spent a few weeks in hospital with pneumonia (no other health issues afaik, but she was really ill) earlier in the spring. She is only just back at work - and looking fantastic, but still pacing herself.

SinnerBoy · 15/05/2024 10:06

A slightly strange morning today. We went out to go to school and my daughter said, "WTF!?" and pointed to a one armed bandit dumped outside our opposite neighbour's gate. She actually said the letters.

By the school fence, a load of kids had blocked the path, looking at something and taking photos; it turned out to be a dead cat, which was sad. My daughter went, "Aww, poor cat." An older boy got in her face and shouted, "Ha, you'll cry all day, you're such a girly cry-baby." She slapped him (not condoning it) and he burst into tears, his mates all started laughing at him.

She's Y6 and he's Y8 and has been harassing her for ages. I had a quiet word with her, trying not to laugh...
