Thread 13 - TalkLair: “I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.”

(Previous thread 12).

Looks like spring has sprung! Tulips, apple blossom and early hay fever are upon us. In the TalkLair, we remain hunkered down keeping cosy and warm, because "something something 'til May is out". The hearth is glowing, the walls covered in dubious artwork, books by non-approved authors line the shelves, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

Wow, SinnerBoy, that looks gorgeous! I had no idea they were going to be visible so went to bed and missed it all.

SinnerBoy · 11/05/2024 09:12

I couldn't see it from the house, because of light pollution. That the difference about 150 metres away!

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 11/05/2024 09:25

Wish I'd known, we could have driven somewhere and had a good view. My main work place would have been perfect as it's in the middle of nowhere.

VictorianBigot · 11/05/2024 09:29

I too woke up to lots of WhatsApp photos, including from my neighbours who were watching them off their balconies. I'd gone to bed early and unusually hadn't really looked at the news yesterday as I've been so busy, so had no idea they might be visible. Usually something like that would show up in 'top stories' on my phone widget but there was nothing. I'm gutted and it's put me in a very grumpy mood Blush

Apparently they might be visible tonight but it's less likely.

And absolutely stunning photos @SinnerBoy.

VictorianBigot · 11/05/2024 09:31

Also, congratulations @NoBinturongsHereMate. Very happy for you!

And absolutely stunning photos

You'll have to thank SinnerGirl, mine were rubbish!

artant · 11/05/2024 12:03

Excellent aurora pics @SinnerBoy

SinnerBoy · 12/05/2024 10:34

Apparently, there was a huge traffic jam around St Mary's Lighthouse last night. All people driving up to try to see the Aurora.

Was it visible last night where you are?

VictorianBigot · 12/05/2024 12:00

I was in and out looking for it last night but didn’t see anything despite the red aurora alert. I considered driving out somewhere but didn’t for fear of what @SinnerBoy has described! I watched some Shetland webcams but didn’t see anything there either. Gutted I missed it all.

is @MouseMinge ok?

SinnerBoy · 12/05/2024 12:58

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · Today 11:06

Was it visible last night where you are?

I don't think so, there was a sea fret and the foghorn in Tynemouth was sounding from early evening.

DeanElderberry · 12/05/2024 13:28

I missed it on Friday night but went out last night - there was a lot of light in the sky (I could see the checkered patter on my pyjamas) but mostly in a uniform whitey green, no splendid stripes or curtains. I did see a couple of shooting stars. Gave up at about 11.15. It doesn't get dark here until well after 10.00. Spaceweather suggests we might have one more night. https://spaceweather.com/

Kucinghitam · 12/05/2024 14:15

@VictorianBigot Haven't seen @MouseMinge on here for quite a few days, I hope she's OK.

Last post here on the 7th, and on FB on the 3rd - which said she had pneumonia, so I'm a bit worried.

SinnerBoy · 12/05/2024 14:30

Oh no! I hope she's OK. Perhaps she's in hospital?

DeanElderberry · 12/05/2024 15:11

Another one who has been worried. I hope she is okay.

Britinme · 12/05/2024 15:52

Do we know anyone else who could let us know? Anyone in contact with Snoop?

NoBinturongsHereMate · 12/05/2024 16:07

I have a strong suspicion about who Snoop might be on FB - and if not Snoop, she is certainly a RL friend of Mouse. I'll see if I can send a message.

duc748 · 12/05/2024 16:57

That'd be great. Hope Mouse is OK.

VictorianBigot · 12/05/2024 17:18

Oh no! I hope she’s alright and is being taken care of.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 12/05/2024 17:23

Thanks, Binturong, it would be good to know if she's okay.

artant · 12/05/2024 20:51

Oof, pneumonia doesn’t sound good. Here’s hoping she’s being well looked after and on the road to recovery.

SqueakyDinosaur · 13/05/2024 00:59

A message from one of her oldest friends: "Mouse has not been at all well. Still in hospital 2 weeks after they admitted her direct from A&E bc of her oxygen sats. She is on the mend but still very frail. She would love to see and/or hear from people."

Please DM me if you would like address of hospital. For some modicum of security, I will only give it to regular long-term posters on here and those whose identities are known to me.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 13/05/2024 01:06

Thanks, Squeaky. I'm glad she's on the mend.
