When did your kids stop calling you mummy?

Dd is 7 and for a while I’ve been mum. Tonight as I gave her dinner she said thanks mummy, and inside I was weeping! Obviously didn’t say anything to her otherwise it would be omg mum stop 😂

I want to be mummy for years yet! Didn’t realise how much I loved it.

My 17 will still call me mummy (jokingly) if he wants something 😅

And I called my 88 year old mother mummy just last week (although again, jokingly).

I call my 82 year old Mumma sometimes too 😂

Echobelly · 22/09/2024 22:19

About age 5/6 it went to 'Mum/Dad' - we loved it frankly!

DD is 15 and calls me mummy. I have banned mum as my name though if course she refers to me as that when talking to her friends. I want to stay mummy!

MargaretThursday · 22/09/2024 23:06

My oldest switched about age 10. I think I suggested it before She went to secondary, and at the time she was terribly indignant. I've always been mum since then to her.
Dd2 was about 5 or 6, so while dd1 was still calling me mummy, she moved to mum. However what she calls me depended on what book she was into, and she likes old fashioned ones. So I've been Ma, Mamma, Mater etc.
Ds I was mummy or even mumma when he was ill until he was about 12 or 13, although mum when with friends. Now most often Mother. I usually respond with Son!

jolenethea · 22/09/2024 23:55

2 😭 I've been 'mum' since

mrsanflowerpot · 28/09/2024 22:13

Mine are 15 and 11, they refer to me as mum, when they want something or forget I'm now mum they revert back to mummy

lavenderlou · 28/09/2024 22:15

Mine are 12 and 14 and still call me Mummy, although never in front of friends!

Anisty · 28/09/2024 22:18

SparklingXmas · 28/09/2024 22:33

My son is in his twenties and calls me Mumma. Not every time, but often on texts and every birthday and Christmas card. He’s never called me mummy.

My son is 34 and calls me momma too! Sometime Mother if I’m annoying him 😂

teatoast8 · 04/10/2024 20:58

I'm 34 and still call my mam mammy

RoseyLentil · 04/10/2024 21:06

Aww 🥰 I'm 56 and my sister is 52 and we still call our mum mummy and our dad daddy. We do call them mum and dad too.

nunsflipflop · 04/10/2024 21:06

My dd (36) calls me mum, unless she’s referring to me to her dc then I am nanny. My DS (35) has called me mumma for years, my youngest DS (30) calls me marjay. No idea where it came from, I object when he shortens it to Marj tho

torturedpoet13 · 04/10/2024 21:12

I'm 28 and still call mine mammy 🥲

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 10/04/2024 18:36

2 boys, 7 and 8. Mostly mummy still. Sometimes mum.
Occasionally Bro or Dude!!

Same! I get “bro” once in a while too 😂🙄

UnravellingTheWorld · 04/10/2024 21:21

My 3 yo just started calling me Mum 😭😭😭 didn't expect it to be this soon!!! 💔

Arraminta · 04/10/2024 21:24

DDs are both adults but still call us Mummy & Daddy and probably always will now? They also like to call me by the nickname my friends use too 🙄

HelterSkelter224 · 04/10/2024 22:15

My toddler (2) has recently started addressing her dad and I not as mummy or daddy or mum or dad... but our first names 😠 I am not happy about it lol

HeadOfGregor · 04/10/2024 22:28

DD (8) started calling me Mum a few months ago, I told her it wasn't my name and would call her Gregory in return 😂
So she sticks to mummy / mama/ bro most of the time but mum in front of her friends

Ariela · 04/10/2024 22:38

They don't. When they want something: 'Muummmmeee....'

Katypp · 04/10/2024 22:43

20 and 17. I am assuming I will be mummy forever

yikesanotherbooboo · 04/10/2024 22:53

Three adult children ; one always calls me Mummy, one does about half of the time and one stopped somewhere in junior school.

CandiedPrincess · 04/10/2024 22:54

Mine are late teens and still "mummy" me Blush

ProvincialLady2024 · 04/10/2024 22:57

I still get called Mummy when they want my attention. Ma and Madre occasionally used.
