Dd is 7 and for a while I’ve been mum. Tonight as I gave her dinner she said thanks mummy, and inside I was weeping! Obviously didn’t say anything to her otherwise it would be omg mum stop 😂

I want to be mummy for years yet! Didn’t realise how much I loved it.

My kids are 2 and a half and 6 and use both mum and mummy but mainly mummy.

I saw a lady wearing a t shirt that said on it:

Ma ma
Mummy
Mum
Bruh

😁

I don’t like mummy, never have and makes me cringe when I hear other kids saying it to their mums, gives me the ick when I hear adults refer to their parents as mummy or daddy too.

Im mum and have always been since my babies could talk.

Eldest son is 12 and he still calls me Mummy.

if talking about me he says “my mum” but to my face it’s “mummy”

Greentomatoes21 · 22/09/2024 20:51

DD8 still mummy
DS3 still mumma! (And a great wee talker, just calls me mumma and I'm not stopping him 😄)

Belovedinfidel · 22/09/2024 20:56

DD nearly 11 calls me mummy, mamaa, or Maisie.
DD6 calls me mummy, mother or Maisie (the name Maisie came about for me after we started playing a game where youngest DD pretended to be mother and me and my eldest DD were her daughters and she gave us both names beginning with M)

Mine is currently 7 and just gone into year 3. Just before summer break I got 'mum' but over summer got 'mummy'...she's said won't call me mummy term time in case forgets and gets overheared. It really makes me sad! But all part of growing up, it's my not her

They haven’t, my eldest is 34. ☺️

Same here 😊

RainintheDesert · 22/09/2024 21:04

Mummy until about 6 years old.
Mumma/Mama until she was about 13. Since then, I've been plain old Mum.

I liked Mumma best.

RedHelenB · 22/09/2024 21:11

Never bothered me so I can't remember exactly I hate mummy when kids are older though, it just sounds wrong

rainsofcastamere · 22/09/2024 21:14

About 8 I think. Up to being about 2 I was 'mamam'. The way he would say 'ah mamam' when we were snuggling up used to make my heart hurt. And then he stopped and I was mummy. Now I'm just 'Mam'!

Hopebridge · 22/09/2024 21:21

Age 10 and 11 still miss it

StainsOnStaines · 22/09/2024 21:25

What....is nobody bruh or bro?! 😬

I remind them, I'm not your bruh, I'm your mother! So now the eldest 2 class me mother or mummmyyy when they want something 😩

That’s odd.

DS10 calls me Mummy. DD12 calls me Mumma.
I don't want to be Mum for a while yet 😩

CurlewKate · 22/09/2024 21:34

My 27 year old has just said "Good night, mummy".So it cones and goes! 🤣

CoodleMoodle · 22/09/2024 21:34

Mine are 6 and 10 and I'm usually Mum or Mama (from both). I'm normally only Mummy when they want something! Sometimes when they're talking about me they'll call me Mummy but it's usually Mum.

They refer to DH as Dad/Daddy in much the same way, mostly Dad. But when we're talking about him he's usually Daddy.

LaRosbif · 22/09/2024 21:49

Mine are in their 30's and call me Ma or Mother. Sometimes it's still Mummy and it still melts my heart.

That's so funny. I was called brah today by my son. I said "excuse me?"
None of my three ever called me mummy. Just mum. DS5 called me a devil yesterday, which was kind of him 😐

MonsteraMama · 22/09/2024 21:55

Mine is 16 and I'm Mother most of the time, mummy when she wants something or is feeling particularly cuddly. Occasionally bruh.

Neodymium · 22/09/2024 21:57

middle son calls me mother 😂.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2024 22:08

Ans when my mum was alive - god bless her - she was mummy to be and I was 41 !

TheaBrandt · 22/09/2024 22:11

Ours still do they 18 and 16. Notice when a friend is there they say mum but it sounds weird

Neodymium · 22/09/2024 22:13

Reminds me of friends when Ross calls Rachel mummy when she is pregnant, and she says oh no it’s bad enough you call your own mother that 😂

JacketPotatoFoodOfTheGods · 22/09/2024 22:17

I have 14 & 12 year olds. Both still call me Mamma.
