Dd is 7 and for a while I’ve been mum. Tonight as I gave her dinner she said thanks mummy, and inside I was weeping! Obviously didn’t say anything to her otherwise it would be omg mum stop 😂

I want to be mummy for years yet! Didn’t realise how much I loved it.

DS is 9 and I've been mum for about 2 years

DD is nearly 3 and mummy is still going strong Grin

Fixesplease · 10/04/2024 20:14

Ds 7.. yeah he's half arsing it, mummy is when he's sick ( or wants something!).
I'm absolutely gutted tbh, cos I was hoping I'd be " mummy " till he was 22. 😆 🤣

BeaLola · 10/04/2024 20:44

DS16 calls me Mum most of time since about 10 - he calls me Mummy these days when he is after something - usually £

I have been Mumma for a stage when he was about 6-7 and I have also been called MooMoo 7-9 ish on occasions which I didn't mind at all.

I only refuse to answer to Mother ad it makes me feel like a wizened old lady - thankful he only tried twice .

My Dad92 is Dad or Daddy even though I'm in my 50s. My brother calls my Dad by his first name which I find sad - DS asked me if I wanted to be called like this and I had said absolutely not - you're the only person who can call my Mum/Mummy etc and it's special and makes ne proud

Younger DD made a very definite decision to call us “mum and dad” when she was about 11. Her older sis is 15 and still calls us “mummy and daddy” to our face, but not if referring to us to other people!

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 10/04/2024 20:47

Nearly 8 and I'm still mama or mummy. Dreading the day that stops 😭

gertrudemortimer · 10/04/2024 20:47

My 7 year old started a few months ago. I get bro a lot too

gano · 10/04/2024 20:55

DD5 started calling me Mom around Christmas time. I don't like it. I think it's due to her starting school, and being in wraparound care with older children. She has asked me (last week) if I mind, so I told her I prefer mommy. She said she'll try to remember, but she hasnt.

Alwaystired2023 · 10/04/2024 20:57

My three year old calls me my first name 🤣

MichaelFlatulence · 10/04/2024 20:59

DD15 calls me Moomah, DD13 Mummy

KvotheTheBloodless · 10/04/2024 21:00

My 6-year-old calls me Mummy or (increasingly) Mama, but when talking to his friends refers to me as Mum.

AuntMarch · 10/04/2024 21:00

I'm mostly mum already, he's only 4.

AuntyMabelandPippin · 10/04/2024 21:04

My eldest (in his thirties) calls me Mother.

My second son calls me Mum.

My third calls me Mumsy.

My fourth calls me Mabel.

RoseGoldEagle · 10/04/2024 21:05

5 and 7 year olds both call me Mum, 3 year old still calls me Mummy. I think the 5 her old uses Mummy sometimes, 7 year old hasn’t for a while.

Yearendjoy · 10/04/2024 21:05

Ds is 14. I've been Mother for a good few years now.

hoonicorn · 10/04/2024 21:07

My 10yo calls me mum, stopped mummy about 7.
6yo still between mummy or mum depending if copying his older sibling

Youngest at 2 calls me mama. I never want it to end 🥹

17caterpillars1mouse · 10/04/2024 21:08

DD7 stopped calling me mummy about 2 years ago, but has replaced it with Mama so I'm happy enough, not mum yet lol

Dd5 also calls me Mama mostly now but still occasionally mummy

somethingisnotquiteright · 10/04/2024 21:08

My son (just turned 14) called me mummy until he was 13.
We're still mummy & daddy to my almost 17yr old daughter though.

I don't like being mum! (Or muuuuuuuum!)

mrsanflowerpot · 10/04/2024 21:09

Mine are 10 and 15 and it's interchangeable between mum, mummy and mother for both of them

mrssunshinexxx · 10/04/2024 21:09

My mum was still saved as mummy in my phone when she died, I was 27 she was 63. Most precious word in the world

RespiceFinemKarma · 10/04/2024 21:10

Mummy was about 10 maybe just 11.
She does do Mama which I quite like.

HelterSkelter224 · 10/04/2024 21:13

I'm originally from Northern Ireland where mummy and daddy are always mummy and daddy lol

BruFord · 10/04/2024 21:14

DD (nearly 19) still calls me Mummy sometimes, especially when she wants something.

DS (15) mostly says Mum, but also calls me bro, dog, or dude when he forgets that I’m his Mum, not one of his friends. 🤣
