Am I eating too little ?

ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 12:50

Around 8 months ago I started cutting my calories to loose weight
Crept up to nearly 12 stone
I'm 5ft 7 so it's not always obvious on me but I felt it
Anyway now I'm 9 stone 4 and still loosing
Tbh I'm happy with my weight now
I don't really want to loose more but I'm not sure if my diet is too little to maintain and il loose more.
Breakfast -2 egg omelette
Lunch -2 slices of bread (120 cals ) with a egg mayo or cheese savoury filler (170 cals )
Dinner -something around 600-700 cals
Snacks -1 biscuit (100 cals )

My only exercise is 10,000 steps a day
Before I put the weight on I was slim and always struggled to gain then I got a partner and put it on with lockdown (no steps ) etc

What do you think ?

It's not exactly healthy but I'm sure you know that....

Where are your fruit and vegetables for a start?

ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 12:54

Dinner will be veg Based with chicken normally
But can be anything like spag bol etc
Only fruit I like is a banana

Could you swap the biscuits for some vegetables?

And what is the cheese savoury filler? If it’s a processed thing may swap that for cheese and add salad/vegetables.

What's not healthy a biscuit ?

It's full of processed foods. The sandwich filler instead of making your own, biscuits, a complete lack of fruit and veg

ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 12:57

@concernedchild I have veg for dinner
Normally broccoli /carrots /cauliflower
The cheese savoury isn't every day just a example
It can be anything really from ham salad to cheese savoury
I get bored otherwise if I stick to the same thing
And find lunch choices for work difficult as we have no cooking facilities

I'd want to focus more on strength and fitness and nutrition, and less on numbers on a scale.

Protein, fruit and veggies, exercise (steps don't count, that's just moving).

ManchesterBeatrice · 26/03/2024 13:01

You are definately not eating too little.

But it doesn't look very nutritious.

It should be spread through the day.

Pasta salads etc,, would be good, fruit instead of biscuits as snacks

ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 13:02

Just I'm still loosing weight -normally 1lb a week
I don't want to loose any more I want to stick at this weight -that's why I thought I'm eating too little

EauNeu · 26/03/2024 13:04

That's about 1300 calories I think, which is less than what you need to maintain your weight.
I would go on a tdee calculator and find your maintenance calories.

bloom19 · 26/03/2024 13:04

Well if you're still losing weight, you're not eating enough. Add 100-200 kcal and see what happens. I'd add healthy snack or addition to lunch like carrots and houmous/ peanut butter (protein and veg)

You need to calculate your TDEE and maintenance calories

MaryFuckingFerguson · 26/03/2024 13:08

Logic would dictate that if you’re still losing weight and you don’t want to, you need to up your calories a tad.

ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 13:09

Would you say I'm sedentary with only doing the 10,000 steps daily and no exercise other than that ?

If you can keep it up, you're in the active category. If this is likely to fall, it's better to measure yourself sedentary

Maybe very low activity rather than sedentary.

ohletthesunshine · 26/03/2024 13:10

For sedentary it's saying 1578
For lightly active it's 1797
Which one would you aim for ?

concernedchild · 26/03/2024 13:13

1500 at first for two/three weeks and see what happens to your weight. Then up it if needed

NotFastButFurious · 26/03/2024 13:20

Definitely too little! You're probably not even eating your BMR calories, let alone enough for someone who does 10k steps a day. You're not going to have a huge calories burn from that level of exercise but it will make a difference if you're doing that every day. To burn lb of fat you need a calorie deficit of around 3500 calories, so that's another 500 calories a day you can add to what you're currently eating.

HappyToSmile · 26/03/2024 13:36

If you are still losing weight and don't want to be, then yes, you're not consuming enough calories!

bakewellbride · 26/03/2024 13:40

Hardly any fruit and veg. I could never eat like that, not healthy.

cherrychapstickk · 26/03/2024 14:17

that's low calorie OP for your height and someone who is walking 10,000 steps a day.

you can work it out properly but I'd be very surprised if you did not continue to loose on that amount of calories
